The delightful & strong masculine style of Smt Yamini is demonstrated in the 2 classical styles of Odissi & Bharatanatyam. Видеоклипы
I happened to witness her dance in the town hall of Bangalore in 1964 by chance and not choice but was washed off my feet and ever since was attracted to classical dance and music and she was my guru. She is one of the greatest of our dancers, dance is her passion and has done much to popularize dance all over the globe.
God bless her!
She is immortal. Look how she is able to control her limbs and the strength and grace of her posture. As long as these recordings survive, she will live. Her talent is astounding.
Those who complain and argue about her performance, must be a great and perfect dancers. God bless them all...
Some have given negative comments but her dance look like as performed by some devadasi she has maintained essence of the dance of devadasi (which has been root of both Bharathanatyam and odissi). Wonderful!!!
Srijan Ghosh exactly....He has contributed to this art....How can ppl just crit on her....We must respect old forms from which things got better today
I don't know why all say she is ugly.... Her dance, expression, skill, knowledge...... 👌Nothing is ugly......
Such a fine dance She is performing, Love it!
Wowww🥰🥰🥰 Rama mam (Rama Vaidyanathan) has used this jathi at 6:00 in her Ardhanaareeshwara ashtakam!! Yamini Krishnamoorthi was her first guru.. mayhaps she did it as a tribute to her guru, wowwww ..me getting Goosebumps watching the same jathi here.
Bless the great teacher and wonderful student!!!
Rama mam has done the bestest job with Ardhanaareeshwara ,bless her
I had the good fortune to see Yamini Krishnamurti in a dance recital she presented at the Herodeion Theater in Athens (Greece) in June 1984. A very great dancer! I still keep as a souvenir the rose petals that he held and scattered on the stage of the ancient theater.
Seen her dance in Chowdaiah memorial, Bengaluru 20 years ago. Very effective.
the essence of beauty! Her dance should not be judged with the contemporary meter....in her time the dance was like this and she was the best... people were getting mad....some divine touch was in her, i can see it...
thanks a lot for sharing, really precious!
Her movements are somewhat different from today i feel ....But it's so casual and beautiful....
my mom saw her dance once and named me after her!! :)
lolitafish87 oh......wow.....Do you practise bharatanatyam
A master piece that is hardly seen now a days
She and her dance both are amazingly beautiful!

Very good and different expressions…
Beutiful dance. She has real mastery of movements with the beats of music.Strong movements with good pace, interesting to watch.
Can't stop watching. Amazingly beautiful and graceful. Love the Vernams and thillana 😍😍😍
She is epitome of Bharatnatyam in all its new form ✨✨✨✨✨
Extraordinary rhythm and line. Beautiful style, so graceful.
what a gem! thank you for posting this! it seems that some of the Odissi pieces from this repertoire were choreographies of Guru Debaprasad Das- possibly from back when the different five-part repertoire was performed together as one unit for tours. beautiful!
Extraordinary! !
As an Indian in the United States, I was surprised and disappointed by Kiran Mayee's comments. I am a mathematician and not a dancer, but I was enthralled by this video, and felt immensely proud of this legendary exponent of Indian dance. Ms Kiran Mayee seems to be a dancer herself of some budding repute. It does not behoove her to insult by epithets such as 'substandard' a luminary who is her predecessor, especially on an international forum. Disagreements and rivalries between different "schools" of the art form are understandable, but to air them on a worldwide forum for general audiences is plain bad taste. As an aside, I looked up Ms Mayee and watched some of her videos (which perhaps was her objective behind posting such a comment) - and was not impressed. She may be a self-proclaimed "expert", but does not hold a candle to Ms. Krishnamurthy. My humble opinion as a lay aficionado.
Well said. Styles vary from time to time, person to person. But even by today's standards she is not at all bad. Really sad people are calling her substandard and ugly.
Anima Ray a perfectly astute comment 🙏🏽 She has not understood such a basic principle of Indian dance pedagogy that humility is, it is appalling! . .. No surprise she is short on talent also.
I don't have to watch the upstart's performance who criticized Yamini to know that she isn't any good. Also it's terribly rude to call anyone ugly. This idiot should grow up
Soooo beautiful !!!all the dances!!!
She is still magic. Wish she could have the modern stage with superb lighting etc.
Its Sthai at 2:54! I learned that piece last fall. Ahh, memories...
Foundation of our cultural heritage... Exellent.
thank you lot for posting.... God Bless you......
Extraordinary.
I have seen her performance. Yamini krishnamoorthy madam had regards for my Pattamadai Krishnan, who had composed thillana n tuned certain songs for her dance
lakshmi gee you are very blessed. Thanks for sharing🙏
@mkrisshnan "ugly?!" that is your 'opinion' and such disrespect, I might add . In an Indians point of view or some one who appreciates this ancient dance form- she is very beautiful with all the 'classical' qualities that radiates her 'beauty' and her art.
2023 🎉

Very beautiful.
Wow !!
Great
Bella!!!!
Amateur of her art much better than a lot of modern dancers
Она прекрасна!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😮😮😮
yup, my opinion which I am free to express. Sorry, I never embellish the obvious!
Rani khan am
Why'd she cover her shoulders at the starting when praying for? Please explain
When a dancer is felicitated on stage, they usually present and cover with a shawl. Bouquets are a recent form but earlier, they used only gsrlands and shawls.
can anyone tell me the song name that starts after 3:50
Aaja sri gosta chandrama
Writer Kabi GopalKrushna Patnaik..
Any idea where one can see her Kuchipudi and decide for themselves as well? :)
On youtube
Ahhhh atma trupti haigala
@anangsen Its preconceived notion. One must see a performance without already judging it. Otherwise there is no point. No dancer will keep up her standard after reaching a position. Dancers like Valli and Malavika Sarukkai cant be older than Ms.Krishnamurthy in this video. They don't disrespect their art by not keeping to its norms. The critics will shoot them down with bad reviews. i never had the opportunity to see her perforn in her prime, but the videos I've seen don't impress. I'm sorry.
Great
