Glad no background adverts but why two of her. One camera at moving lens focus would keep the concentration on the dance and dancer. Two images are not better than one.. as One.
I have videos of other dance forms as well if you want to see just check out my dance playlist. And the dance form that you are seeing in this video is called odissi , it is one of the 8 classical dance forms of India and probably the oldest of all of them , it originated from the state of orissa in eastern India and hence the name odissi. That's all I know.
Nafisha Low This dance form is Odissi and the name for this particular one is Batu. The movements represent playing of the musical instruments initially and then of preparation of getting ready, ie putting on of Jewellery and hair flowers and the final one is the Bindi on the forehead. I am assuming it is to represent the temple dancers getting ready to dance for God.
This is Battu, a dance done in respect of Batuka Bhairava, an aspect of Shiva, the lord of dance. It is a nrtta (pure dance piece) i.e. dance done purely for the joy of it without the dance needing to convey any meaning. And as @Sue Thompson so succinctly described, she (the dancer Sujata Mohapatra) begins by imitating the playing of instruments (Veena, the stringed instruments, Venu, the flute, Mardala, the two sided horizontal drum and Manjira, the cymbals, big and small) and towards the end depicts a woman getting ready.
Battu dance is the symbolism of learning the purest grammar of the dance form because Batu in Sanskrit means Students who learn grammar from guru and it's also dedicated to lord Batukeshawra Bhairava
