I work and live in Roseburg. It’s a quiet beautiful city with lots of outdoor recreation. It’s also affordable living . It’s not a perfect because there is no such place like that in this world.
@@brave9801 Wrong! I live in a perfect place in Costa Rica. Just because there are no perfect places in the US does not mean there are no perfect places in the world.
Well I agree with a lot of your pros, you did not talk enough about the cons. 1-Crater Lake is 2 hours away not 1 hour. 2- you said it does not rain in the summer, but it can absolutely rain and get thunderstorms. 3 - it can be very difficult to find medical care. Providers do not stay in this area very long because it is too small of a town. And yes you may have to go out of town for some of your bigger stuff, but even some of your basic things like eye appointments, dental cleaning, routine Imaging exams, etc, those can take months to get scheduled. 4- you did not mention the bike path. I refuse to go on the bike path by myself because it is scary and sketchy and not safe. Due to all the drugs and the homelessness. 5- shopping is nonexistent. Dining is not much better.. I have lived here my whole life. We are mostly retirees who are not in the workforce. Don't move here and expect a lot. We are not a large town.
Thank you for sharing your perspective and highlighting the cons. I will include more cons on my next video, and yes the bike path is a little sketchy but as far as dinning I will take you to some great restaurants.😀
Thank the mayor for the homeless and the drugs. Typical democrat policies have ruined all of oregon since 1982......disgusting and i was born and raised here
I've lived here in Roseburg the majority of my life, I'm in my early 30's, and there is almost no industry outside of the lumber mills (RFP and Swanson Group). Many of the smaller employers don't pay much higher than state minimum wage, and if you are a renter, unless you have a companion, roommate, spouse etc. You're probably living paycheck to paycheck.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences living in Roseburg. It's true that our local economy has been predominantly centered around the lumber industry, with major employers like RFP and Swanson Group. This has led to a situation where many entry-level jobs offer wages just slightly above minimum wage, which can make it challenging for individuals, especially renters, to make ends meet. Additionally, employers in the area are facing difficulties in finding and retaining help, which is another aspect of the economic landscape here.
I was born and raised here. Democrat policies have ruined the town, and the entire state.......never had the homeless problem and rampant drugs when i was a kid here. DO NOT go in any park or walk the bike trail you will be assaulted or asked for drugs or sex and harrassed..........
The VA closed its hospital years ago. It is now an Urgent Care. The closest VA Hospital is 3hrs away in Portland. That's one of the reasons we moved here. 😢
For a small town it’s really open and spread out with lots of big box stores not congested. With the parkways it’s really easy to get around town. Great huge park in the center of town on the river with great walking trails very well planned. The people I have found to be very friendly 😊
I’ve lived here in Roseburg for 12 years. Moved from CA. I’ve never had a car. I was 21 when I moved here. Am now 34. It’s certainly a VA retiree town. The VA is a very critical part to this town. Something not mentioned. That’s why more suited for the elderly.
You are Right the VA is a huge draw to Roseburg! How do you get around here with no car do you use public transportaion? Is there enough route options for you?
@@sellwithnorman I average about 12 miles a day walking. There’s lots of bike paths and trails that go throughout the town actually. And there are bus options. As well as sunshine taxi, I noticed you had mentioned Uber.
I will add that I moved here because my fiance at the time was pregnant. It has been phenomenal as far as raising children: yes there could be more options for things to do. But it gives us a chance to let them be with nature more so then with electronics.
I lived for a year in Roseburg back in the mid-eighties. I live in Western Montana now. I hope to be able to move back soon. It all depends on where our grown son decides to settle down. I miss the location and the weather.
While Roseburg generally offers a more affordable lifestyle than many parts of Northern California, especially above Sacramento, the details can vary by towns or communities. Stay tuned for my upcoming video. It'll provide detailed insights into the cost of living here in Roseburg, Oregon.
Hard to get any job because of nepotism. And the cops love to turn people into felons for absolutely no reason. State and county cops galore, be ready to get traffic tickets just for sneezing. And for sure, fly your MAGA flag on a pole on your big diesel truck. 🤫😉 Cops don't play here, they WILL take your car if you're late on your tag renewal, zero leeway. And lastly, be melanin deficient, or be a target.
The cost of property has gone up and its hard to find a decent home, as there isn't much to choose from within reason. I retired here almost three years ago and like the slower pace. But, like you said not much night life, few decent restaurants or stores. I have found it is easier to use Amazon! 😐 If you are a more open minded person, you are the minority. Yet, as more people arrive from other places, it can change for the better. Being fair minded and kind is what matters most. Not interested in political plays for profit.
Hello! Thanks for your insight. You're spot on; while prices surged post-COVID, they've stabilized recently, likely due to higher interest rates. If you find this topic interesting, consider liking, subscribing, and turning on notifications for more updates. I appreciate your engagement!
You didn't mention the huge population of homeless people. The massive drug problem. This small town is very unsafe to walk at certain times in certain areas. Also, housing costs are way too high for the local economy.
Thank you for sharing your perspective on the town. It's important to consider all aspects when discussing a community. New video next week that covers these points!
Definitely more for retired folk who enjoy simple life, if your a young and single or have family who crave entertainment Roseburg might not be for you

Roseburg might not be perfect, but hey, that just means there's always room for improvement, right?

My mistake however the VA does have a great health care system here in Roseburg www.va.gov/roseburg-health-care/

Wife and I were there for a couple weeks last year, house hunting. We were put off by the 'bum' problem, and bought elsewhere.
Where did you end up buying?

Yes I have seen Uber here but I don't think there are many drivers. Definitely alot of Grub Hub and Insta Cart though.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Nature truly offers a unique space for kids to grow and explore.

It always looks dirty in roseburg for some reason.
is it cheaper cost of living than nor cal (above sac, exclude bay area...not nor cal)

It's true, Roseburg has a charm that appeals more to those seeking a slower pace of life.
anywhere is better than Portland Oregon
Haha, I get it! Many of my clients are excaping Portland. Portland definitely isn’t for everyone. What’s your favorite place then?
Stay out of the Roseburg area.
Roseburg is a dirty toilet bowl.
It sounds like you’re not a fan of Roseburg! What specifically do you think needs improvement?
