Fix Data Error Cyclic Redundancy Check CRC, Can’t Read From the Source File or Disk Corrupted Disk

- Error Message: Can't read from the source file or disk or Drive not accessible, data error or Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) error which is a data verification method that computer uses to check the accuracy of data on the disks.
That error occurs due to hard drive corruption, cluttered disk or there’s a bad spot on the hard drive. Whenever you experience CRC error issue, you must resolved as soon as possible to avoid data loss, as Cyclic Redundancy Check is very serious error and it prevent you from copying files and accessing your hard drive data.
There are many ways and software claiming to fix and recover corrupted data but 99% of them don't really work, I have found that windows 10 CHKDSK and Recuva data recovery software are the best to fix the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) issue and help to recover almost all files.
Windows CHKDSK command may fix CRC issue but it may clean out important data along with the errors, therefor you will need to use recovery software like Recuva to recover and repair corrupted unreadable video files (.mp4 , mkv , .avi , .MOV), photos, office word, excel files and all types of data.
Check Disk Command for Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC):
chkdsk Z: /f /r /x
Replace Z: with the letter of your Drive or partition you would like to scan

When I try to install Prince of Persia t2t on my PC during the installation process it shows come files download error

If you are trying to install program or game and you get crc error, that's a clear sign that you need to backup your important files because your disk isn't healthy. If you insist on using that disk, then you will need to mark bad sectors on the drive and use it with caution. You can still follow first method on the video and see how will go with it. If it won't help, then get a new drive.

It depends what are you trying to recover! If you are trying to recover certain corrupted files, then start with Recuva for faster outcome, otherwise start with CHKDSK. Thank you
hi. i've follow your solution 1 and do the chkdsk. but it seems like it run till half and stopped. it stopped at "step 4 progress: 4448 of 13040 done". its been like it stopped at the same progress for more than 8 hours. what should i do now? can i unplug my harddisk? pls advise.

Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs , details are included in the CBS log File located at windir \Logs\CBS\CBS. log.
For Example C:\Windows \Logs\CBS\CBS. log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

Same here. Corrupted disk read as raw file system.
You will need to create partition first in order to access your drive then run CHKDSK.
Then if system doesn't generate partition letter then do the following steps:
Right click on start menu and choose "Disk Management" then Right click on the partition that has no letter and choose from the list "Change drive letter or paths" then Click "Add" to add new letter to your partition. Thank you
@@ezy2Learn I tried creating a partition with gparted. It refuses to be partitioned-so no joy. The SD is read as 512Jib in size but actual size should be 16gb.

How to fix it when it said on the cmd cannot open volume for direct Access?
That could happen if your drive is connected via USB or because of your Antivirus program.

@@ezy2Learn In the case that Windows 10 makes the sound that it recognises the USB thumb drive has been plugged in, but shows nothing in the 'My Computer' page, but Disk Manager sees it but cannot format it/delete partition due to 'Cyclic Redundancy Check', what does one do?

Hi, First you need to initialize the HDD, Connect your HDD and on windows 10 Right Click on Start then choose "Disk Management" , and you will get "Initialize Disk" pop up screen and it will ask you to choose between "MBR and GPT" you will have to choose the one that match's your current system then press ok. after that, use the second method in this video and recover your files with Recuva software. You can only assign a drive letter to a partition, NOT a drive. so if your disk doesn't have a partition, then you won't be able to assign a letter to it. Thank you

@@ezy2Learn thanks but that didn't work either. My drive was so messed up it wasn't even registering in disk management! I had to use hddscan to correct the corruption or something - full erase, before it showed up in disk management.
