I have spent hrs. watching people reaction to this. It was ahead of its time when Simon & Garfunkel sang. It's so relevant now with everyone one their media devices. We needed this. I've heard so many reactions where people are just empowered to do something.

When I first saw this, I watched it every day for like a month. Turns out Simon & Garfunkel have endorsed this version of their song as the best all-time, including their own!!

David Draiman's voice is epic. Regarding the lyrics, Simon and Garfunkel's version was a warning.
The Disturbed version is furious because the warning was ignored.

    Simon & Garfunkel = a whispered warning
Disturbed = a battle cry that the warning was ignored

It's a very nice analogy but after having seen this exact comment more than 20 times in these reaction videos, by different people, it's getting old really fast ;)

Janet Stafford he was mad during this show. Since he was sick the audio person autotuned him without asking. He hates auto tune. They only did that to like two parts. The rest is him

No offense auto tune is for wimps. I understand why he was mad. Artists from 70 to the 80s only used the power of their voice.

I love it, watched a lot of these reaction videos for this song, which is absolutely beautiful, but you can see it in the reactor's eyes when they get sucked into his vocals and the story...they just glaze over

I had time tonight to relax, and decided to roam RUclips to see peoples reactions to this masterful cover of The Sound of Silence. It is so enjoyable to see how people are impacted and moved by this song and the power with which he delivers the message intended when Paul Simon wrote it.
Fun fact, every reaction video has one or more heartfelt 'wow' uttered in disbelief and amazement irregardless of race, religion, social status, age, sex, whatever. It moves everyone who listens to it.

Just in case you did not know the original version of this song was written and sung by Simon and Garfunkel 1964. I like both versions but they have a completely different feel to them. The one from Disturbed is a bit darker and harsher, the one from Simon & Garfunkel is a little bit brighter feeling. But both carry the same message. Love your channel keep up the great videos.

  • @RyanRichardsToby

I don't think she's heard the original. It's more fun when the reactor has heard the original, but I can't fault her for that. I didn't learn until decades after listening to Hendrix that "All Along the Watchtower" was originally written and performed by Bob Dylan. Upon hearing Jimi's version, Dylan stated, "That's his song now." Similarly, I've heard that Simon heard Disturbed's version, and said, "That's no longer my song."

If Julia's "SoS" interests you, maybe you'd like to do an official reaction to another of her recent covers? Try "Hallelujah" (ruclips.net/video/xzmKauNfYAo/видео.html), "Zombie" (ruclips.net/video/JQYtj8Uwybs/видео.html), "It Ain't Me" (ruclips.net/video/6N89LCBu8I0/видео.html), or Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love" (ruclips.net/video/yApMvm4Tdx8/видео.html) As you listen, remember that all of these performances are acapella. She records and mixes multiple tracks, but no instruments are used.
