- The far northwest of North America has some of the most spectacular wilderness anywhere in the world! Join Ashley and I (Keenan), along with our two dogs, for an amazing adventure canoe trip, at the edge of Alaska.
We paddle our canoe through pristine, ice cold, glacial fed waters and hike our way through a wild forest, to the toe of a glacier. There, we taste a small chunk of ice from an iceberg that's been frozen for thousands of years!!
We do plenty of fishing, and catch beautiful, huge Lake Trout. We find some amazing spots to camp where we can prepare and enjoy our tasty fresh catches for dinner, while marvelling at some of the most spectacular and wild scenery we've ever seen!
The wilds of Yukon and Alaska are some our favourite places to explore, especially by canoe. We hope this film helps you to understand why we drive thousands of kilometres to do this. We love exploring the wilderness together, and in doing so, have found a passion for filmmaking. We hope that we convey a sense of how special these places are and how important it is to look after and preserve them.
Many fond memories were made on this trip, including a very special moment in particular... You won't want to miss it!

Beautiful, I'd be so afraid to not have both dogs in a life vest, you just never know how a dog will react to anything. Enjoy your videos!!!
Thank you. Our dogs have developed hot spots from wearing life vests. They hold the moisture against their skin and we’ve had to end trips because of this. We only have them wear a life vest when we find it necessary.

I am still doing 'catch-up on all your videos so just discovered this one which caused my eyes to leak very quickly. 🙂 My 'CONGRATULATION!' may be coming in a couple of years late, but my wish is still the same. May you continue to make some wonderful memories as you go forward as a couple - in life, as well as when you go into the 'wild' with your canoe and fur babies. Ashley - may your wish come true - to stay strong, healthy and able to make a return trip when in your 70 or plus years and retrace where you travelled in younger years. Gorgeous scenery. The mountains in the background give the views a majesty that you don't see in other canoe areas like the BWCA.
Thanks Louie. The mountains out west are pretty amazing. I will say though, that the bwca quetico area is one of our favourite areas to explore and is just as beautiful in a different way.
My proposal 17 years ago was out in the backcountry also, so memorable. What a wonderful trip and congratulations. Enjoy these trips now as if there are children in your future all of this will change! Best of luck!

O well, I have been living for many months on the shore of this lake, exploring its surroundings, over a couple of years... Nice for keeping it a secret, this is a true gem of wilderness and quietness. As some say " if you know, you know!" I'm living in the French Alps, but to watch your beautiful filmmaking, which does entire justice to the place and memories I made there, it simply brings me that feeling I always had there: a HOME feeling.
