Hi William, I don't usually comment on videos but I feel I should mention something. There is absolutely no need to break any of the clips on the display frame. All you need to do is: 1. Remove the display assembly from the laptop in the first place. 2. Lay the display face up on a towel or cloth to avoid scratching the back. 3. Remove the two stickers and screws from the bottom of the front bezel. 4. Lift up the lower edge of the screen and pull it downwards to disengage all the tabs. You might need to use a prying tool on the lower part where the screws were. 5. Lift out the display, job done! Very quick and easy with no broken tabs. I repair laptops for a living and I hope this helps. Thanks for the video though!
what is this magic technique of removing the screen from the top cover without breaking tabs? I'm trying to slide the screen down while sliding top cover up and it's not really going anywhere. And lifting the screen up away from the cover seems to break tabs.
+Hans hinners I did forget to mention that you need to remove the plastic cover that runs in between the hinges, this comes of by sliding to the right first then pulling straight out.You only need to lift the screen a little at the points where the screws were removed (not at the top or sides)If you still cannot work it out let me know and I'll make and post a video.
+Plasma Tronics In addition to not breaking the clips, does this also save not having to do the whole process of taking the laptop apart to get the screen back in. It would seem you perform the steps you mentioned, then swap the screens (doing the steps in the video to detach and re-attach the components) then put the screen back in place in reverse of how it was taken out. Thanks in advance.
+Bryan Napier I successfully finished my repair with the help of plasmatronics comments and William's video. I detached the screen assembly from the rest of the laptop which wasn't difficult. Two screws for each hinge, display wire harness and the two Wi-Fi antenna cables. I think it would be easier to handle as two separate pieces. The only thing I didn't mess with was disconnecting the battery but carefully made sure I kept the laptop powered down.
Hi William, your video was THE difference in my deciding to buy an entire screen assembly vs just the rear LCD cover for a Vivobook S400C. The one I got to fix had the hinge broken from the real lcd side. Thanks for that crucial comment about separating the LCD from the rear cover below, I only need to buy a rear cover off ebay. THANKS!
Thought I might mention that the digitizer and LCD are not glued together on this model. You can replace one or the other (I just did). Also, there is no need to break the snaps when disassembling the display. When you remove the display from the laptop, you take out the two bezel screws and the hinge cover just slides to the right to remove it. Once that is gone, the front half of the display will slide downward to remove it. Once removed, you can carefully separate the LCD from the Digitizer.
Excellent video. I just cracked the digitizer in my s200e and I was looking around for solutions. My only issue with this video is that you started with the screen and then went back to the traditional way of opening the bottom cover. I would have hoped for an easier way to just remove the digitzer and put in the new one but looks like I am going to have to go the long way.
Hey William, this is exactly what i was looking for. I´ve just changed display on my S400CA. One note, you should always disconnect and remove whole top part (display and cover) before glass and display change. If not, you´ll brake these small plastic clip anchors. Cheers mate...
Viktor Kocak May i get a suggestion as to where to purchase or where you got the part? I am so leery on buying a part from some person in China and not have it work with the touch screen part? I would appreciate it with suggestions.
samberhanu Hello, i bought it on ebay (display and touchscreen glass). When i opened it, i realized my original glass was OK. I've decided to use the new glass and display, so now i have one spare fully working glass (plastic around is broken, you can use your own, it's easy to change). If somebody need it, i'll sell it ...
For anyone who wants to know the bezel does not pry/clip off as shown in in this video it slides off. Doing it this way breaks all of the clips holding it on. 1) Remove the screen completely 2) Undo the 2 x screws at the bottom of the screen 3)The silver wifi cover at the bottom slides from left to right (as you look at it with the screen facing away). 4 You can then slide the digitizer\Bezel downwards which unlocks it and it can then be removed without breaking any clips.
Thanks to you I was ablle to reconnect my touch screen logic board. Bought a flipboak with a broken touch screen and the issue was the connector for the power was not connected.
Hey William, I own Asus Zenbook UX31A Prime which is touchable laptop. Am I able to buy just outer screen? I do not mind if I will be without touchable layer I do not use it at all. I am not sure if outer screens for Asus series UX3y are same. What do you think? I appreciate your advice.
Hi i want to thank u a lot i had an asus lp500la its similar to yours and my daughter drop it on the floor since then my screen go crazy with colors so i disconnected the battery first then i unplugged the lcd screen data cable, clean it, plug it in again and the screen works fine again
William thanks for the video, I have a S300CA vivobook which I have cracked just the outer screen. The model you worked on looks very similar. Can you suggest a good place to purchase a replacement screen?
William, thanks for the vid. My Asus does not have a broken screen but something fell on the top of the laptop and left a small dent. The screen works but shows a cracked image. Do you think I need to replace the entire computer top? Thank you.
William, I understand that many years have passed, but I have an important question) The backlight of the screen does not work on my laptop, the matrix itself is intact. all services say that the backlight controller does not change separately, it is inside the matrix .. but judging by the video and your words, the board at the top of the screen is this controller, or am I wrong? and is it possible to find this board without parsing the laptop screen? .. sorry for my English, this is Google translator)
hi william my model asus s500c, the build in touch screen not working, therefore i m using external monitor. Is there any similar non touch screen monitor panel i can replace it with?
Hopefully you can guide me a little here. I have a Vivobook s500c, and the left hinge (the clever hidden hinge that connects the screen to the rest) is broken. Every time I close my laptop it makes a cracking sound, and when closed the alignment is way off. When open, the screen jiggles around with the slightest of movements, and just seems structurally unsound. Is this something I can replace myself? Do you have any pro tips or recommendations? I'm weary of sending it to the manufacturer because A) The ASUS website is a pain, and B) I need my laptop for work, and who knows how long it could take for a repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know a reliable place to order part that would be helpful. Thanks :)
I've been trying to find the same part you use here, for the same machine but I'm having difficulty. I am looking on Ebay, but I don't think I've found the same pre-assembled set yet - do you have any recommended links please?
My touch doesn't work keep getting usb errors, if i change just the glass, is there any guarantee that it will work or do you think that it is the control board that it plus into . many thanks for your input and for the video. Florian
i have ASUS vivobook S551 LB ,and the problem is my laptop fell on the floor and the screen turn off when i move it ,can i,where can i contact you and show the pictures ??
My asus laptop is stuck on a screen that is white and blue (APTIO SETUP UTILITY). Whenever i save and exit, it brings me back to the screen. Ive looked all over the internet and couldnt find a way to fix it. If you have a possible way to fix it, can you please help?
Bro William.. may I check with you..my old Acer Aspire model 4736..can't start at all. Unless I dismantle all device from the USB port , then it works. The system hard disk does not read, and also whenever I enable disk drive. it cut off . System stop working, Do I need to reformat and change new hard disk ? Bro please advise .hope to hear from you soon ..Thank You Very Much :D)
yes bro ..i did reformat same thing happened or i change hard disk, hard disk wont read at all,, unless , i remove usb port like mouse, cooling fan etc , only pc and power it work can start
I have the Acer Windows 8 laptop but whenever I turn it on. Everything shows. Like, it won't let me see the home screen when I log in. I didn't trash my laptop no type of way of purpose. I really need help. William Yu
It would be much easier if you first remove the screen from the laptop and then unscrewed the LCD without breaking anything. It is only 10 little screws

William, Thanks for the detail and cautionary advice. Nice work!
Thanks for the video, i would have been lost for the reassemblay, keep up the good work
Thank you for this video William. I'm pretty sure the grey center hinge cover slides to the right, and then comes off!
Thanks you saved me a few hours. This video also applies to Asus V500CA series

so to slide the bezel off you have to undo the right hand hinge completely? right?
You'r my savior, thanks you !!!! Thumbs up from France ! :')
thanks for the video, it helped a lot!
May God bless you who stopped at this comment and your whole family, may you prosper in all areas
Please tell me how to buy the screen ?
