    Again a great video of a nice location . Great video and description once again . I like that you take your time and actually let the viewer take it in unlike the histrionice younger generation that use the camera on themselves more than the location. well explained and shot . As a photographer you might have just given me a new location. Thank you .

    From a fellow Canadian. I was there 20 years ago. The beach was much wider, though it was October so also caught a bit of stormy season. How I'd love to be there now. So beautiful and peaceful. Prices more than right. I'm very sure that I still cannot sit on Thai pillow rests and since it was awkward for me 20 years ago, I'm sure impossible for me now.
    So wishing that I was there. Looking forward to your next video.

    We went on our honeymoon last Feb to March and stayed 5 nights at the Cabana resort in one of the cabins overlooking the view you liked. We had our own private rock to climb up and watch sunsets and a path down to the waters. Snorkeling great too.
    Sairee village was a gongshow but I suppose 3 and some change years later, it was good to see cash come in for the locals.

    Great vid and makes me really wanna go back to Koh Tao. I have been there 4-5 times already, first time many years ago and then after I started scuba diving then the later times were all done in the last 2 years. The last time I was there was in June during the first long holiday after lockdown. It was really quiet with international tourists unable to visit and many restaurants & hotels out of business. It's still my favorite island since I've made many friends there from diving. Will be sure to go there again soon!

    Perhaps you can answer a question about Mama Ochai's options. The only room available for when we want to stay is a standard double room with fan or double room with garden view. Do you know if these units are facing the beach? I can't tell on google earth where these would be located, though I do see the bungalows facing the beach. If you know an answer to this question, we would greatly appreciate your response. Thank you!

      If I recall there's about 6 (?) beachfront fan bungalows. However, if you end up in the second row you still hear the waves, get the sea breeze and a peekaboo sea view between bungalows. Just loved Mama Ochai's. PS: stayed there again on this follow-up trip: ruclips.net/video/E0qMy5Hi6n0/видео.html&t

    Well presented and very informational👍

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  3 года назад +2

      @Ah Yae Yeung Hi AYY, all the food prices in restaurants shown are normal regular prices EXCEPT where it says 'discount 15%' then deduct 15% and where it says 'Daily Special' etc then it's a special. Prices of hotels were discounted but for example my beachfront room was 800 baht (discounted) and usually 1100-1200 she said, still great! That 4000 baht $130 month Thai cottage I showed is seasonal price I think (same sign as last year btw) but again in 'normal' high season probably not much more. Obviously one can spend a LOT more on posher places too but for me, cheap n cheerful on or near the each and sorted! :) Edit to add, pls see part 1 for my hotel tour and prices: ruclips.net/video/jFuUVDvPxGY/видео.html

      Hi, Phuket is on opposite coast (West coast) and the gulf islands are on the East coast but it's easily doable. Maybe fly into Phuket for a couple nights, then take a boat to Phi Phi for a night, then boat to Ao Nang/Krabi/Railay for 2 nights, then short bus trip to Surat Thani and boat to Samui then reverse island hop Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao then final boat to Chumpon and sleeper train to Bangkok -or up to my FAV beach town area in all Thailand, Prachuap Khiri Khan::

      Depends if under 50 or over + how long wanting to stay? There's the newish (& awkwardly named;) 'STV' 90 day visa -extendable to 9 months. There's also various 'Ed' type visas (Thai language, cooking, Muay Thai, etc etc) up to 8 months + limited extendable/with conditions, from 20-30K Baht/$650-$1000 USD. There's also the 'Elite' Visa various options (5, 10, 20 year) from 500K Baht/$16K USD. If over 50 there's a retirement visa (extendable yearly) must have either 800K Baht/26K USD bank balance, or 65K Baht/2.1K USD monthly income. There's other 'visitor' visas but I think that's the main batch. Currently any visa option must be firstly approved by your local TH Embassy & then go through quarantine requirements of course. Hope the above info is all still accurate (check your local Thai Embassy site for latest!) & helps answer your query. Cheers!

      @Osman Yegin Thanks. Personally I liked making the following video more but it wasn't recommended much by utoob, thus less views: ruclips.net/video/fFGZV3--RIs/видео.html

    Do you know if they've fixed the sewage problem in Koh Tao? Apparently, they were pumping the sewage out into the ocean because there's nowhere else to send it.

      Not certain but water was crystal clear in most places despite mass muddy runoff. Eventually tho all will have to ante up plenty more to pay for upgrades to infrastructure. Hopefully it turns out better than some Western examples from Sydney to UK to Florida, Canada & more:

    Hi, great vid! Are there beaches on Koh Tao where you can snorkel nicely or do you need to take a boat to snorkel spots?

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  2 года назад +1

      Hi, yes, best snorkeling is mostly along the East coast. Lighthouse, Tanote Bay, Ao Hin Wong, etc, etc but a bit trickier to get to (by boat/bike/hike, depending). But for closer in Shark Bay is worth a stop. Here's a wee look from a more recent trip: ruclips.net/video/E0qMy5Hi6n0/видео.html

    Been there 10 years ago. Did some diving with Impian. Had a very nice time. Very friendly thai people. The only thing that cost a fortune was scuba diving. I still miss the Thai people and lifestyle. I have not seen any luxury rental rooms on koh tao. Working as a DM did not paid anything. I still remember that a package lm cigarettes cost 40 bath. The THAI's charter flights were perfect. Never seen that in EU. What a great service. But many foreigners only come to Siam for the Girls. Ifyou travel thru the country you see a whole other side of thailand. Good, and also some very bad things that makes you cry. Also many corrupted cops that fine you for nothing. Dont be fooled by YT vids that only let you see the good parts. If you get in prison, you get 2 steel concrete bars wrapped around your feet. The old way like 1800's. They have a firing squad for murders and drugs cases. Please be aware that Asia does not tolerate DRUGS. As a tourist youre nothing than a walking ATM for the thai goverment. Be aware of that. Overall i did had a great time, and learned allot. My advice for tourist that go to Thailand is have a low profile . Dont be a rich guy. Dont not stand out. Get in touch with locals, and let them guide you through the country side. You would be amazed what you will never thought to see.
