      It certainly does look idyllic BUT just a word of caution if I may: ALWAYS come and stay in a desired area for a time FIRSTLY (say min 3 months, preferably 6) BEFORE committing/upping sticks or selling up. At the minimum to see if the 'ideal' actually suits one's lifestyle & expectations. Cheers!

    I lived on phangan on and off years - although its always quiet like this in the off season , its strange to see it like this in later December. The road to haadrin was all dirt when i first went and the beach was just bungalows with a tiny crossroads behind with a few small shops. i have a feeling they have plans to change haadrin completely when tourism comes back and possibly the whole of phangan will move towards higher end tourism. its such a beautiful and special place but has become far too busy recently and the kind of people visiting has changed a lot of course , i dont think the thais have enjoyed the last 10 years of change very much but the money was good so most of the families i know have done well but yearn for the quieter days and low season each year

In the morning ride scooters all day and go shopping or head to the beach. I could spend my life their easily.

      @@SideTripLife Everyone goes to PhiPhi . It is a nice place to just visit. We were up on the hill so we had to lock the windows because the monkeys would come in and steal your stuff. Koh Samui is real nice. We went to a Thai Boxing match there. It's a must if you go. Thailand is a beautiful place. Yes there is some poverty but most people have some work. Now they legalized Cannabis. They will open the doors to more cash for Thai people. They really suffered during covid. But KPG has my heart. The island has something for everyone. Every side of it has a different flavor. It's probably the least visited in Thailand and that's why I love it. Our memories will last us a lifetime.

      many rentals down 50-80% bcs of covid. price also dependent on season (high/low) and demand (for fullmoon party everything was much higher around Hadrin/Bantai/Thong Nai Pan). so yeah kind of a season and monthly cycle, but atm everything quiet and empty so prices are super low

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife  4 года назад

      There are some amazing deals for sure. But just for the record, before the current global event, Ben's & the other beachfront place I stayed at on Koh Tao were both going from around $30 last high season, less in low season. That's still a fantastic deal imho. Hard to get a crappy motel in my western home city for less than $100...

    • @SeanHendy
      @SeanHendy 4 года назад

      @@SideTripLife couldn't agree more. I've been in Thailand enough times to know about the high/low season fluctuation, but as soon as it becomes possible. my long term goal of moving to Thailand, postponed because of you know what, will be on again. I have a healthy budget that could go up to $1000-1500 per month for accommodation and I'd expect a penthouse at the top end, but equally if the surroundings were as spot on as in this video, I'd be very interested in something less grand.
      Noises being made about a quick revisit of the Smart visa to include digital nomads (FINALLY), which if they really get it right, will allow people to pay income tax locally as well which makes it very appealing, and if Thailand wants people with money to spend into the local economy, and for a long term, would be a great solution.
      Either that or pony up for the Elite Visa which is going up 20% in the new year! Gutted I can't buy it in advance at the current price and save myself 100k baht.

    First vid of yours I've watched and you have a new subscriber! Thanks for posting. Love that there is minimal talk although the subtitles are a little hard to read. My focus is on the Philippines, coz that is where i will retire, but 200 US for a month beachfront?? I am there!! I'm sure this is the 'rona pricing, but even double that is deal.

      Enjoy! Was on Phuket recently, it's very quiet sadly but still beautiful, local people were great despite hardships and they'll appreciate your custom: ruclips.net/video/Ry_lQjg04K8/видео.html

    Benjamin's Hut is a great find. $16 is what I can get for a Hainese Chicken rice plate here in San Francisco. Pretty sure that price won't stick when the rest of us can travel there. But still great to see what accommodations is there on the beach front. Can't wait to see the rest of your trip.

      It really is great value and super nice staff too. Can't recall what she said they charge in 'normal' high season but it wasn't a lot more. Like the beachfront place I stayed at in last vid on Koh Tao, it was 800 and she said in 'normal' high season 1100-1200. So, just over 30 bucks for a/c bungalow on a paradise beach (??!!) hell yeah! Much more trip to come + Samui, so pls stay tuned (+subscribe +click bell to get notified of new vid upload) Thx for watching & commenting :)

    Word of wisdom! Put a piece of thin foam over the microphone! Use tape or whatever means to secure it! That will fix your wind noise!
