Brilliant video due to 1) keeping it simple, 2) actually starting with points on the island map for orientation and 3) great film work.Thank you for your time and effort😊.
I lived in Phuket for 7 months and this is pretty accurate. just expect 10x the amount of people than displayed in this video, after covid and now with the rus/ukr situation its very very busy
I've stayed in Kata a couple of times, Karon & Patong. Kata beach is my absolute favourite place in the whole world (and I have travelled quite a bit). Karon is not that far away and hotels tend to be a little cheaper than Kata. Its a good walk or a quick tuk-tuk ride between the two. Patong is exactly as you described it. I probably wouldn't stay there again as it gets a bit much if you are there for more than a week. Also a tuk-tuk/taxi from Kata/Karon to Patong is worth the fare and quite a pleasant journey.

Good video, but next time don't forget to review CHALONG (close to chalong circus / chalong Police) as there are many condo's and expats there as it is close to the port which takes to you to the nearby islands, the beach and the Big buddha. Also there is Villa Market, Home Pro, starbucks and other shops and restaurants in the cosy mall there (it's a good one!). I lived 6 months there, it was fun!! 🙂
Thanks. I included Chalong in my 2nd Phuket areas videos. I made two as didn't want the video to be too long. Chalong is a good choice for long stay but someone coming for a week or less I think the other areas are more suitable.
@@AlwaysonaJourney LOL yes just saw the other video... I almost rented in Karon Beach but i found it remote as I did not plan to get a bike or car. You are correct - Chalong was very good for long stay; I was walking everywhere or taking InDriver for 60/80 baht for places like Macro / Tesco lotus est for shopping . But mostly I was walking distance (100 meters) from the local Villa Market. In any case, great videos. i have subscribed!
I stayed at the Novatel At Kamala Beach One day I took the bus to Jungceylon Mall for a day trip. The entire experience at Kamala Beach was very worthwhile
Hi Andrew what a great and informative video you had. I have a question of all the places you've mention which one would you recommend most or prefer most? Thanks
Hello and thank you. I like all areas for different reasons but the next time I visit Phuket again I'll c stay in Nai Harn. The beach there is my favourite. There's a good selection of restaurants to suit all budgets and it has a very chilled laid back feel to it. There's isn't s party scene there in the evening. That suits me but for some people evenings there might be a little too quiet. ;-)
Thanks for doing the videos, they're really good for helping organise our holiday. We're staying in Kata at the end of November. Is there a lot of choice for pubs/ bars near Metadee Elite hotel?
Thank you. I don't know the hotel you mentioned but there are quite a few pubs in Kata.I don't know what the prices are like as I've never been in any of them.
@@AlwaysonaJourney we would like to stay Kata, kamala. Maybe 2 nights in Patong, and just day trips to other places. Do you have video about Krabi? I can’t find it in your channel.
I lived in Patong for 8 months mostly off Nanai. Love the area. Just too close to Bangla then I need to be so moving to Karon soon. I have stayed at or been to all the beaches on the west coast from the airport to Nai Harn and around the east a bit. Can’t think of a bad area honestly.
Our last visit to Phuket was August last year during sandbox. My girlfriend who travelled from Philippines had to quarantine 2 weeks (Philippines was on the red list) prior my my arrival from London. Bang Tao beach was fantastic, we stayed at Saii Laguna and had the beach pretty much to ourselves. We will be back in Phuket in December, this time Patong. Great 📹
I think I remember chatting with you last year year. December will be here again soon enough. We are planning to be in the Philippines in December. Have you spent much time there?
Lived in Philippines back in 2005 for 16 months. These days I visit couple of times a year. In April we was in Palawan and Cebu. There are plenty of beautiful places that have not yet been commercialised. Different experience than Thailand
Nice video thank you. I’ve stayed in Patong, which I thought was bloody marvellous, and I also had a couple of nights at a posh hotel in Kata. That was bloody marvellous too. I’m actually here in Thailand even as we speak.
@@AlwaysonaJourney no I’m just leaving Pattaya and heading for Koh Chang. It’s one of my favourite places in Thailand/Asia/ the whole wide world. I will visit Phuket at some point, but I’m in a great situation now. I have plenty of time to mooch about. After Koh Chang I want to visit Siem Reap.
Super video thank you 🙏.... any tips on places / hotels to stay .... if you don't know which area you want to remain at is it best just to book a flight & plan your stay from Thailand?
I am surprising my gorlfriend to Thailand and the first stop is Phuket for like 4 days. I want to do a lot of touristy activities but don’t want to be insanely crowded either. Is kata the place to go then? Thanks for the video!!
This will be helpful for those planning their holiday. It is worth noting that the jet ski operators are notorious for scamming those who unwittingly use their services. There have been frequent complaints that the operators will extract large sums for damage that they claim has been done to the jet skis.
If you're looking for a great resort during your trip to Phuket. Have a look at the Pullman Phuket Panwa. I loved it! ruclips.net/video/380CZcpn8TM/видео.html
Patong is very crowded while Kata and Kata Noi beaches offer a balance between crowded area and serenity. Kamala beach is also a quieter place to stay. Beach at Nai Harm is very peaceful (offers massage). Kayaking and Snorkeling is available at Yanui beach. Mai Khao beach is away from tourists offering villa resorts. Nai Yang is a little gem lesser known to tourists. You can also spend some time in Phuket Town and try local food. Phuket Town is not very busy during the week but that's not true for Saturday, Sunday. Bang Tao offers sophisticated dining options and party places.
I’m bringing my parents to Phuket for the first time and wanted to experience a mixture of chill and some night life as well… Which area should I choose? I’m thinking maybe Patong for a night and Kata for two nights?
Kata is a good area to stay for a family, and it's not far from Patong Beach. If you want to experience the nightlife in Patong, you can easily take a taxi there (Bolt taxi or Local tuk-tuk), which is less hassle than moving to a different hotel.
Hi Andrew, I enjoy watching your channel and it helped me a lot with my travels. I have a question about transportation around the island of Phuket. What's the fare from one place like let say from airport to patong beach? Also, I heard you need to have Bhat money, where did you get your money exchange? My husband and I are planning to visit phuket this July and it's both our first time. Thank you so much.
Hi Aika. The cost of the taxi depends on what application you book, Grab is more expensive than the others(cost around 600-1000 thb). You can find another cheap option which is Phuket airport smart bus only 100 thb. The best rate to change you money is in Paton beach if you need thai baht you can change a few amount at the airport. We put some detail in the description about the transportation in this VDO . Hopefulley it help a lot for you holidays. Thank you. ruclips.net/video/GYo7Ew_E9m8/видео.html

Great video. I’ll be on a cruise next March, with a one day stop in Phuket. Any suggestions on an area to visit (as I only see being able to visit one, maybe two areas)? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Hi Mark. If you want nightlife then Patong would be the best option. If you prefer a nice beach with decent restaurants then Kata would be a good option.
Thanks for the great information! I’m planning my first visit in late June. Which area do you think would be the best for a single guy to visit who isn’t into the night life?? I’ve been researching for weeks and it’s so hard to decide haha
Очень точный и полный обзор. На наш взгляд лучше всего останавливаться в Патонге. Так как это центр острова. Загорать же лучше на других, более чистых пляжах.👍
Great video. Booked for 6 weeks in Thailand later in the year with my wife and 2 young kids. Sounds like Kata or Kamala may work well for quieter family friendly areas. Do you agree?
Thanks Kris. I do agree. i think Kata is the better choice as it's got two great beaches, plenty of restaurants and it's really easy to get to other spots from there.
It normally take 2 or 3 hrs for the basics ( half day morning or afternoon the price starts at 800 thb), after that you can rent the board and practice by yourself.
The video was very good overall but I’m really surprised that you left Paradise Beach off the list. I realize of course that the video is about the best “areas to stay” and not the best beaches, and I further realize that there are no hotels on Paradise Beach. But since Paradise Beach is located at the southern end of Patong Bay and therefore is technically part of the Patong area you could have mentioned it as one of the things to do when staying in Patong. Also, there are now several very nice large hotels right near Tri-Trang beach, and Paradise Beach is just over the hill from these - although you really need to rent a motorbike to get around if staying in this remote little area. By the way, Paradise actually used to be my favorite beach in Phuket. Of course, people wanting to see it should be aware that a few weeks ago they just jacked up the entrance fee from 100baht to 200baht per person which is kind of a rip-off. Also, I noticed that you mentioned that you can snorkel at Patong Beach but you failed to mention the fact that there would be absolutely no point in snorkeling off that beach. First of all there is nothing to see there but sand. And secondly there is so much speed-boat and jet ski traffic that it would be WAY to dangerous to try to snorkel there. Speaking of snorkeling/free-diving, one of the best reefs for this in Phuket is the one off the northern end of Kata Beach and yet you did not mention this fact at all. It’s very popular with both Scuba divers and Free divers.

@@AlwaysonaJourney I liked it so much as a guy with big bikes, I bought a scooter at home. I now have a 560cc Yamaha TMax, amazing machine. I’m from the NE uk too.

Fabulous information Andrew. Greatly appreciate
Thanks Thomas. Hope you're well. ;-)
If you're looking for a great resort to stay at during your trip to Phuket have a look at this. Phuket Pullman Panwa. I loved it!

Thank you for your mention of the Soi Dog Foundation - I hope to do a volunteer day when next I am in Phuket 🙂
Oh you should definitely do it. It's so lovely.
@@Adrian-S. Thank you. Appreciate that. Where are you now?
I stayed at the Novatel
At Kamala Beach One day I took the bus to Jungceylon Mall for a day trip. The entire experience at Kamala Beach was very worthwhile
When were you in Kamala Byron? Was it busy?
Well done mate ...learned heaps and booking trip tonight
Thanks. Have a great time there!
@@AlwaysonaJourney thanks for replying. Not a problem, we'll have a great time, can't wait to be over there

Thanks for the video, we’re going to visit Phuket in July. We’re still looking for hotels each places with nice beaches that you can swim.

@@AlwaysonaJourney we would like to stay Kata, kamala. Maybe 2 nights in Patong, and just day trips to other places.

Great video and super helpful!!!
Glad you think so!
Amazing, we’re coming there today and can’t wait to shoot some content here, hopefully it’s not raining
Fingers crossed for you. Enjoy your trip. ;-)
I agree with you. All areas have something to offer. Phuket is an amazing island.
I've been to Palawan and loved it. I'm definitely going to Cebu next time.
When traveling to thailand from usa are their quarantine rules?
@@jasonb4566 Not anymore. You just need to takje a test befoere you travel if you're not vaccinated.

Very beautiful footage. Thanks for the great upload.
Thank you for watching. :-)
Great video. Can we easily go to Kata beach from the airport by bus or any other cheap options ?
Hello. The smart bus goes to Kata from Phuket Airport. It costs 100THB per person
Great video, thank you. I’m where would be the best fruit markets? The second beach Pata looks like my speed just want a great fruit market close
There's a lot of fruit near to Suan Luang Park which is not far from Phuket Town.
Ok thank you. We are deciding between Phuket and koi sumi for a year and want to have a great fruit market
Hi , we were to Kata i, January 2017 and will come back in January 2023 for 1 week . Thank you for all this informations about Phuket .
You are welcome 😊 Will you go back to Kata again in January?
Nice video thank you. I’ve stayed in Patong, which I thought was bloody marvellous, and I also had a couple of nights at a posh hotel in Kata. That was bloody marvellous too. I’m actually here in Thailand even as we speak.
Hiya Tony. Thanks. Are you still in Phuket?
@@AlwaysonaJourney no I’m just leaving Pattaya and heading for Koh Chang. It’s one of my favourite places in Thailand/Asia/ the whole wide world. I will visit Phuket at some point, but I’m in a great situation now. I have plenty of time to mooch about. After Koh Chang I want to visit Siem Reap.

You should! It's amazing. They do great work there. :-)
Super video thank you 🙏.... any tips on places / hotels to stay .... if you don't know which area you want to remain at is it best just to book a flight & plan your stay from Thailand?
Thank you. Phuket is very busy now so it might be better to book in advance. I lived there so haven't stayed in many hotels.
I am surprising my gorlfriend to Thailand and the first stop is Phuket for like 4 days. I want to do a lot of touristy activities but don’t want to be insanely crowded either. Is kata the place to go then? Thanks for the video!!
That's excellent. I would suggest either Kata or Nai Harn.
This will be helpful for those planning their holiday. It is worth noting that the jet ski operators are notorious for scamming those who unwittingly use their services. There have been frequent complaints that the operators will extract large sums for damage that they claim has been done to the jet skis.
Thanks for sharing your info here William.

Thank you. ;-0
Thank you. That's very good conslusion.
@@AlwaysonaJourney That’s a great info! Thanks a lot!
Hi Andrew,
I enjoy watching your channel and it helped me a lot with my travels.
Thank you.

Stayed at the Royal Yacht Club Nai Harn in 1985, in those days there wasn’t an airport on Phuket so it was a boat trip to the island.
Have you been back to Thailand since 1985?

Очень точный и полный обзор. На наш взгляд лучше всего останавливаться в Патонге. Так как это центр острова. Загорать же лучше на других, более чистых пляжах.👍

Great video. Booked for 6 weeks in Thailand later in the year with my wife and 2 young kids. Sounds like Kata or Kamala may work well for quieter family friendly areas. Do you agree?

Hey thanks for the video, just wondering how much is a surfing lesson for a newbie, how long does it last and what time do they typically start?
It normally take 2 or 3 hrs for the basics ( half day morning or afternoon the price starts at 800 thb), after that you can rent the board and practice by yourself.
Very helpful video, thank you
You're welcome. I hope you enjoy Phuket.
It's kata or karon for me next trip mate , then i can go to patong when i want ? thanks for this video. 👍 cheers
Sounds like a good plan. 😉
Thanks for taking the time to leave this feedback. You made some valid points. ;-)
