Why does all these tech ppl keep forgetting the iPhone 8 takes pic in HDR at all times just like the pixel so if your going to test it set the note 8 at HDR on
It is so funny that all you people used to hate Samsung photos because the saturation is so high and the colour pops so much... but as soon as the iphones are doing the exact same thing the Samsung is doing that is popping the colours and more saturation and contrast you people are saying the iphone looked better... lol what next the iphone x screen looks better than the galaxy phones as well.... but I must admit, the iphone 8 pictures did look better than the note 8 pictures in most of the shots.
Goyam Jain stop that childish whining and let people choose what they want without calling them sheeps. You see yourself that iphones camera is clearly better
Actually i hate the oversharpening of Samsung cameras, it makes everything look fake, i can live with more daturated colors but oversharpening i can't deal with, Samsung Galaxy S6 was the best balance when it vomes to sharpening.
Two great smartphone cameras indeed! I like the processing of both and they certainly are extremely capable. I enjoyed the iPhone results a little more, sometimes even a lot more and it kinda reminds me of Fujifilm cameras, since they have one of, or even the best straight out of camera footage! I love the direction Apple is going. They realize that a smartphone camera will never compete with a DSLR when it comes to optical quality and focus on the strengths of a smartphone, which is advanced technology. Others tend to try and sell you their phones as a camera equivalent and try to impress with all the controls you have when shooting. Apple on the other hand opens up possibilities to everyday people while keeping the photography experience super simple. I think that‘s the key in smartphone photography! They started with Portrait Mode last year. Now thanks to artificial intelligence on the A11 chip and depth perception they already had, they introduced Portrait Lighting! Emulating studio lighting is pretty exciting and I really want to try it out! Also they‘re using machine learning to analyse the whole frame before pressing the shutter and thus get the right settings and improve image processing even more. Like I said, that‘s the key in smartphone photography in my opinion. A simple, yet powerful experience, accessible to everyone. That’s why I love iPhone photography. Manual controls are for real cameras with actual great optical quality. The optical quality on big cameras is what makes it worth shooting RAW with manual settings and get the most out of the image in post processing. I‘m not saying I wouldn‘t ever use it on a smartphone... I actually do and even shoot RAW sometimes, but there are great apps that get the job done for those occasions. Generally, when I take my iPhone over my camera, it‘s for simplicity and a different experience that is also great!
Hi Dan how come supersaf’s comparison video shows the opposite results? Could it be that it all depends on the camera module that’s fitted into phone not the phone brand or model?
I'm really glad to see that Apple is able to match the overall performance of Samsung phones again. A camera comparison that I'm really looking forward to seeing would be iPhone X vs Pixel 2
LuneTech supersaf has a comparison and i take him as the leading camera comparison RUclips since he basically built his channel off that. his results were much different. pixel 2 will win
LuneTech u must not know anything about phones,to say that ur glad Apple is able to match the performance of Samsung is stupid, this was a camera comparison not an overall phone performance dumb ass 😎😎😎
Levaxx Lol I don't like the iPhone because of iOS, but there is no reason I would lie and say the Note 8 has a better camera. I hate those fucking fanboys.
love the side by side video comparison at the start, pretty original. This was about as neutral a video to appease most of the trolls out there, and yet still done very well. Both cameras were very good, one didn't outshine the other. Definitely comes down to what the individual prefers, which is what I think you conveyed very well in this video. Well done lad.
I was looking forward for a video comparison like this! To me, the pictures of the iPhone 8 seem to be more natural and capture a bit more detail. Coming from a iPhone 6S Plus, I still cannot decide wether going for the 8 Plus or the smaller 8.
Danny, when you talk about iPhone 8 Plus' apparent better dynamic range at 2:15, it isn't actually that. The new iPhones tend to overshoot the blue in the skies. Check out the same comparison shot by +SuperSaf TV where he explains this very well. When you shoot the same location with the 1x and 2x lenses, you will yourself realise the difference in blue in the sky at the same time.
Need to see some side by side crops, looks like the iPhone might be cranking up the contrast (something that was a negative in some much older Android phones).
I'm a Note lover and I would definitely get a Note phone not only for the amazing camera but all the features that the Iphone never offered. But the Iphone 8 camera is much more pleasing to me especially in the photos where you can see the sky.
Now yes, both do a great job, but the iPhone is the clear winner here. The thing is that the note 8 has OIS on both the “wide-angle” and telephoto lens. It also has a larger aperture. It’s also not just the auto mode. The note 8 has the manual mode so you can tweak whatever you want. Both phones are phenomenal and are both great cameras. Everyone has their own preference.
imo it was a bit back and forth , some winners on the iphone , and some on the note , clearly neither are perfect , but still both quite good for smart phone camera`s .
That shot of Walt and Mickey for the portrait test proves the hit and miss of the Iphone's portrait mode. The lion flag and the crowds behind them are still very much in focus where as the Note 8 has it all blurred. I'd say the Note 8 handles the depth data better.
Extremely close, I love the audio quality and color saturation from the Note 8 and iPhone 8 Plus takes mostly better shots at night. Both phones are excellent for sharing pictures on social media and messaging apps.
I just watched similar comparison videos involving the iPhone 8 Plus, one of them being from SafTV, but there, shockingly most of the time it didn't really perform as well as yours. I was a bit disappointed but now, I'm confused. 🤔😅
This was a good camera comparison. It showcased a lot natural scenarios the every day user would shoot or even photography mobile enthusiasts. But other test by other content creators, the Note 8’s performed better, but not here.. interesting.
Both are excellent but I love the look of the iPhone's images in almost every shot. Very even handed with exposure and contrast so you get excellent dynamic range and vibrant colours.
I'm an s8 owner but I'm really impressed at the quality of the iPhone 8 cameras. Low light shots have improved a lot. There is no clear winner here overall and I'd be happy to use either phone.
I didn't think the iPhone would beat the note, but damn. I definitely prefer the iPhone's camera over the Note 8's. I'm a stock Android guy, so I hope the Pixel 2 keeps up.
Kind of bull how Samsung got chewed for being too oversaturated with their colors in their shots back then, but now that they're the ones showing more shots with true to life colors and the Iphone up its contrast and saturation, you get a bunch of people on here saying how amazing it is. Oh the hypocrisy of the world..
front camera i would say note 8, also the audio louder. overall pictures... Dynamic range good. macro shots are good on the iphone 8. Still don't like the fake dual cam with a fake bokeh effect (with every phone). I just don't like the effect... doesn't come over natural enough for me...
Definitely, the iPhone 8 Plus in this comparison for me. The slight increase in contrast that Apple added on the iPhone 8's camera paired with the still more natural color palette is more appealing to my eye. Or, at least I imagine it will be in everyday usage. The Note 8's camera still blows me away in terms of its over saturation though. Contrary to most, that has always been my favorite thing about Samsung's cameras.
I think it's funny how I can watch this video and it be almost entirely different from other iPhone 8 vs Note 8 camera comparisons. I've watched. I have put my Galaxy Note 8 camera up against the iPhone 8 plus at work. I'm an indirect agent for Verizon Wireless, so I deal with these phones every day. Even the customers who come in and buy the iPhone 8 + agree that the Note 8's camera is a little better what I should have been the comparison videos on RUclips. It still doesn't change their mind about buying the iPhone but that's a big admission. Especially for the hardcore iPhone fanboys. Oh and one more thing... I noticed when you did the side by side video stabilization portion, the Note 8 lookef really wobbly. Mine never looks that bad and in all the other videos it is extremely stable and normally looks a lot better than the iPhone 8 plus. Not sure what you had going on there. That was kind of strange.
+Sonny Causey are you walking fast though? Or are you conscious of the way you are walking because you are recording? The images speak for themselves. I never said the Note 8 was better in every way. Note 8 did something’s better. One thing no can deny is that the Dynamic Range is better on the iPhone. You can see it in almost every shot. I don’t make the cameras. I just test them.
Danny Winget I understand, I'm just curious of why yours was different from some that I've seen. Anyway, everyone has an opinion. Also, in regards to the HDR feature, iPhone Fanboys claimed the iPhone 7's camera was better than the S8 because it was "More Natural" or it had the more "True to Life" tones. Simply mocking the aggressive HDR mode. Now that the Samsung has the more realistic looking color saturation & Apple doesn't, which camera do you think they say is better now? See what I mean? Just venting useless frustration & possibly unwarranted.
I’ve tested S8 and Note 8 and now I have switched to iPhone 8 Plus. I found when I tested the Samsung Cameras the rear cameras are very good day light and low light. But the deal breaker for me was the Processing Samsung does on the Front Camera, it makes you look like plastic or some kind of wax work. It’s genuinely horrible.
I think it all comes to personal preference. If the difference is this small, I would definetley choose note 8. You can do so much more things with it. Not to mention Spen's amazing features, Note 8 has better display, live focus, optical image stabilization in both lens and expendable storage. Tbh, I already have the phone, and I freaking love it!
Thanks danny for such a great in depth camera comparision video.. I was waiting for that video since i bought note 8 on 22nd sept. But really need to confirm that note 8 will get 4k at 60fps video. Iam using the exynos version..
I definitely prefer the iPhone’s camera as I always have. The iPhone generally tends to look more natural and sharper. The note looked alright, but the video was, in my opinion, supremely better on the iPhone. The selfie camera has always been more realistic on the iPhone. The note may have more megapixels, but as Apple has proved that isn’t the whole story. The iphone always makes it look for true to life with skin color and facial features. But the same applies with the rear camera. The colors and details on clothes and other objects generally looks better and more realistic on the iPhone. I wasn’t there to see how accurate the color was in the pictures in comparison to how they looked in person. But upon watching other videos, I was proved correct. Many people have approved the iPhone over the note for the cameras. Apple did definitely step up a few of its specs which go to show. But I did appreciate the extra aperture in the telephoto camera with the note. But maybe a better comparison will be when the X hits
iPhone 8 Plus took better video, but the Note Sounded little better in terms of the sound surrounding me a little bit more, and the iPhone 8 Plus took better pictures with both lenses.
It’s been long since I’ve seen such a big difference between smartphone cameras. Question is, has the iPhone camera gotten so much better over a year or has Samsung degraded their cameras?
So one time you say, true to life colours are better on the Samsung and then you go and praise the iPhone for having oversaturated colours in video being 'ready to share'...
Note 8. Yes the iPhone tends to have more true to life pictures but the note 8 has the best picture quality. The note 8 allows for a pro mode giving more "pros" the ability to have fine tuning control.
Damn the iPhone is much better than I was expecting - great video again man!
+Mrwhosetheboss thanks dude!
no stop commenting, you cant even read a specs. you're a apple fanboy, XD
I love both phones but Samsung all the way.
Gohan Dela Cruz what you mean the iPhone camera looks better is what he is saying I think iPhone looks better Note 8 is right behind
IPhone nailed it . and I see your video mrwhosetheboss it is so cool
We are hipocrites, so what? Lol.
Both are great cameras!! Can’t go wrong either way!
Damm, the dynamic range on the iPhone is AMAZING this year. I'm definitely impressed because it wasn't really good before.
HDR is on automatically on these new iPhones though. I wanna know whether he shot with HDR on the Note 8 as well
iphone colors + note 8 details = ideal phone camera
Cyan first one is up to preference
For isheep, ideal phone = i phone = iPhone
Goyam Jain stop that childish whining and let people choose what they want without calling them sheeps. You see yourself that iphones camera is clearly better
Actually i hate the oversharpening of Samsung cameras, it makes everything look fake, i can live with more daturated colors but oversharpening i can't deal with, Samsung Galaxy S6 was the best balance when it vomes to sharpening.
iphone has better details
Best camera comparison I've watched of the Galaxy Note 8 vs iPhone 8 plus, keep up the good job!
Two great smartphone cameras indeed! I like the processing of both and they certainly are extremely capable. I enjoyed the iPhone results a little more, sometimes even a lot more and it kinda reminds me of Fujifilm cameras, since they have one of, or even the best straight out of camera footage!

Nice breakdown man, I need to make my videos more detailed like yours. Have to say iPhone's camera has really impressed me this year.
Tech Thusiast good video mate
Now iPhone users will say that they Love oversaturated pictures
They do say xD
Hi Dan how come supersaf’s comparison video shows the opposite results? Could it be that it all depends on the camera module that’s fitted into phone not the phone brand or model?
I'm really glad to see that Apple is able to match the overall performance of Samsung phones again. A camera comparison that I'm really looking forward to seeing would be iPhone X vs Pixel 2
LuneTech supersaf has a comparison and i take him as the leading camera comparison RUclips since he basically built his channel off that. his results were much different. pixel 2 will win
RiceCube Tech so far he the only RUclipsd who says note beats iPhone camera in every aspect
he is so far the only reviewer who said the note 8 is better
LuneTech u must not know anything about phones,to say that ur glad Apple is able to match the performance of Samsung is stupid, this was a camera comparison not an overall phone performance dumb ass 😎😎😎
RagingTiger if not don't talk shit bitch
I wanted the Note 8 to win, but for the first time the iPhone wins. Nice job Apple.
Nadav Shohat one of the few comments that weren’t immature and hardcore fanboy based. Thank you for this lol. Hope in humanity again
Levaxx Lol
I don't like the iPhone because of iOS, but there is no reason I would lie and say the Note 8 has a better camera. I hate those fucking fanboys.
Nadav Shohat first time? 7 plus sweeped s7 with it's intro of dual lens
SmallBoy's Studios The Google Pixel was better than both.
No no no, Samsung won this round. Because it’s doing better by crank up the iSO and let people see more.
You always give good reviews
love the side by side video comparison at the start, pretty original. This was about as neutral a video to appease most of the trolls out there, and yet still done very well. +kbalaz thank you lol. Good to see some positive comments here.
iPhone 8 stage light effect - AMAZING!
Best camera comparison on RUclips 👍🏻 go Danny
6:54 6:58 I don't know what you found better on the iPhone but the sky on the iPhone photos are worse, compared to the Note8
Amazing review Danny, best overall camera comparison yet! 👊
Please tell me which camera is better in every part ???
Samsung Note 8 or Iphone 8 plus ??? please help me
Rajib Barik of course iphone, guy.
Rajib Barik samsung
The best and most honest review!
I can't see you eye Danny in start of the video, hehe. Good video as always :)
Thank you. Both cameras are very good but this year I love the pictures of the iPhone!
Excellent comparison. For me it's pretty clear that iPhone is the winner here
4:43 samsung stated that the feature (4k60) will come to the Note 8 soon.
Note on mine so far. ;(
Great vide Danny! The recorded Audio seems to be stereo on the Note 8 and mono on the iPhone. Do you know anything about that?
iPhone has always had mono audio. It sucks.
You are very good and honest reviewer.
nice video.. as always. love the contents
I was looking forward for a video comparison like this! To me, the pictures of the iPhone 8 seem to be more natural and capture a bit more detail. Coming from a iPhone 6S Plus, I still cannot decide wether going for the 8 Plus or the smaller 8.
Both are great, I had a 7 and now a 7 plus and the improvements in camera and in battery life are enough to spend the extra bucks on the plus model
Sebastian Giebels I would go with the 8 plus
The smaller one always lacks quality in all of the departments= less battery, camera and screen resolution.
iPhone took the win for almost every shot in your comparison.
I love how you can walk with closed eyes and without falling
Great video Danny. They are both great but the iPhone is slightly ahead in all areas in my opinion aside from the telephoto lens
I would like to see the pro shots for Note 8 so I can know how great the pro mode really work
Thank you for this video, good job👍
Need to see some side by side crops, looks like the iPhone might be cranking up the contrast (something that was a negative in some much older Android phones).
Great video... 👍🏻
Best review ever 👍
Danny, When are you gonna do the review of the HTC U11?
+Melbourne Dauz it’s there a point? It’s already Old. I don’t think anyone would care.
Danny makes the best camera comparisons hands down. Pro tip: iPhone 8 uses hdr wether you enable it or not same as the Pixel
wow.great as always.thats why i dont like some reviewers that are always bias toward samsung like supersaf
If the Note 8's video is flat, why not also photo's? or just give us an option to saturate the photo or leave it natural.
Definitely iPhone wins
Great comparison
I'm a Note lover and I would definitely get a Note phone not only for the amazing camera but all the features that the Iphone never offered. But the Iphone 8 camera is much more pleasing to me especially in the photos where you can see the sky.
SO where is the 4k 60fps link?
since note 8 has extra camera features available to download so I hope they add a LOG format like v30
Now yes, both do a great job, but the iPhone is the clear winner here. The thing is that the note 8 has OIS on both the “wide-angle” and telephoto lens. It also has a larger aperture. imo it was a bit back and forth , some winners on the iphone , and some on the note , clearly neither are perfect , but still both quite good for smart phone camera`s .
Note 8 looks better in details, colors, video, and exposing skin photos correctly without adding an aggressive over processed HDR tone
That shot of Walt and Mickey for the portrait test proves the hit and miss of the Iphone's portrait mode. The lion flag and the crowds behind them are still very much in focus where as the Note 8 has it all blurred. I'd say the Note 8 handles the depth data better.
I can't help to notice:
In the first scene, the front camera of iPhone looks wider, but in the last one it's the Note 8...
No matter how it looks. Note 8 without a second thought. You just can't ignore the fact that how beautiful note 8 is.
I got my iPhone 8+ yesterday and it’s really fantastic I’m very happy with it.
which colour you got? and how does the 8 Plus feel in the hand?
Umbro Khan I got the black and it feels like a premium phone ! It’s awesome!
I had to give the iPhone a compliment this year. They did a great job and no doubt the 2017 iPhones is dominating the DxO Mark table.
Is it from Samsung you have the 60 fps 4k rumor?
This was a good camera comparison. It showcased a lot natural scenarios the every day user would shoot or even photography mobile enthusiasts. But other test by other content creators, the Note 8’s performed better, but not here.. interesting.
Both are excellent but I love the look of the iPhone's images in almost every shot. Very even handed with exposure and contrast so you get excellent dynamic range and vibrant colours.
I'm an s8 owner but I'm really impressed at the quality of the iPhone 8 cameras. Low light shots have improved a lot. There is no clear winner here overall and I'd be happy to use either phone.

front camera i would say note 8, also the audio louder. overall pictures... Dynamic range good. macro shots are good on the iphone 8. Still don't like the fake dual cam with a fake bokeh effect (with every phone). I just don't like the effect... doesn't come over natural enough for me...
We have come to see all this in video, not in text
you can still watch it in video... I am just giving my opinion...
Looool front camera clear Win for iPhone and rear
Idk , I kinda liked the iPhone microphone more even tho it wasn’t as loud. It blocked out the wind noise.
Concept Creator 😂 are you blind .. iPhone Front facing camera is better than androids ..
Wow Apple won it!!! This is good to see.
great job Danny. they are both great phones. i prefer the SG Note8
Gteat test. Better than most tests of new flagships 😊
I liked it but didn't like how you never said which one was your favourite
Thank u so much for this video. This convince me to buy note 8 this month. 😁👍👍👍👍👍❤
Bruh... I absolutely love my note 8, but dang that iPhone camera is legit. That’s the ONE thing I hope Samsung works on next year.
Finally an iPhone with one if not the best on the market
Great vid!! Good job with showing the difference. It looks like the iphone is the better camera phone.
They both have dope dbrand skins!😂😂
Dany i hope taht you will make Note 8 vs Iphone 8 plis vs LG V30
Is it me or on slowmo the iPhone seems to stutter a little comparing to the Note 8? Just wodering... Just noticed that on the dog's movement...
The iPhone finally has a mic from the 21st century
Pat Fahey but the iPhone still records in mono audio channel no stereo sound capture
best comparison for iPhone 8 and note 8 ....
I don't really care about the camera, so I'm still excited for my Note 8 for Christmas :D
Imagine the google pixel camera😱
Definitely, the iPhone 8 Plus in this comparison for me. The slight increase in contrast that Apple added on the iPhone 8's camera paired with the still more natural color palette is more appealing to my eye. Or, at least I imagine it will be in everyday usage. The Note 8's camera still blows me away in terms of its over saturation though. Contrary to most, that has always been my favorite thing about Samsung's cameras.
Portrait Mode and Live Focus are both pretty damn good in different shots. Personally, I think the 8 Plus's Portrait Mode wins this round.
they both look the same to me. at this point it's all about preference. great video
Wow iphone had it this time.
shane blue sky im a samsung fanboy and i like the iphone camera more it has more contrast
Sushant Neupane So true! His tests have become very restricted, like there only a couple of scenarios it's not enough for real world usage.
I swear I've seen a video where note8 won and now the iPhone 8 what?!
Both are great. Personal preference in the end
Just venting useless frustration & possibly unwarranted.
All these "hands down" comments but most of these shots are damn similar. Great comparison though!
Both look good but I'd have to say Apple really stepped their game up with the cameras on the iPhone 8 Plus.
Apple is killing it with the camera, for certain that it’s due to the new processor and how it adjusts the image on the spot
LG V30 comparison?
+Zung Hoang I don’t have a production unit yet. People complained way too much last time
I’ve tested S8 and Note 8 and now I have switched to iPhone 8 Plus. I found when I tested the Samsung Cameras the rear cameras are very good day light and low light. The Pixel 2 will end the arguments for best smartphone camera, just like the original Pixel did.
Thanks danny for such a great in depth camera comparision video..
I was waiting for that video since i bought note 8 on 22nd sept.
But really need to confirm that note 8 will get 4k at 60fps video.
Iam using the exynos version..
+sanjay neelam they just said it would be coming. No timeline or anything.
iphone tiny bit better , both great camera's.
Sup Mister Winget how are you amigo
I definitely prefer the iPhone’s camera as I always have. The iPhone generally tends to look more natural and sharper. Yes the iPhone tends to have more true to life pictures but the note 8 has the best picture quality. The note 8 allows for a pro mode giving more "pros" the ability to have fine tuning control.
