Hi, I have just found this on the local Express and Star paper online, dated 08/04/3024, this is Gills a place which was protested a few years ago as the paper covered vigil also. I think it’s the same place you guys were at. Wolverhampton sausage maker lays off staff over pig supply issue Many of the staff at a Black Country pork producer and wholesaler have been laid off with no supply of pigs for slaughter given as the reason.
@@tomhirons7475Unless pig farmers are shipping live pigs abroad for slaughter I cannot see how this process can simply be moved overseas. However relocation or consolidation is more likely. Other existing slaughterhouses may be increasing the number of pigs they are killing in order to take up the slack. It would be good to think that there is a significant fall in demand for pig products. That might signify not only an increasing number of vegans and vegetarians but an increase in the proportion of the population that are Muslims. The latter point would be of no benefit to other animals in this appalling industry.
My parents worked in a slaughterhouse for 42 years. The owners retired and passed it down to their children. Their children immediately sold out and the new owners shut it down and relocated. In our small community that hurt a lot of people had to move to different towns to try to find work. Since I am self employed and I did need some more help I was able to hire my parents. I am self employed in the sport fishing industry.
