Thanks for spreading this sounds from your mind into the world!
Just picked up an rc 505 and I've been appreciating your videos a lot. It helps a lot to see how you have everything set up and optimized for how you work. Thanks and keep making beautiful music!
The transition using track fx roll & filter and all stop, then turning off track fx with all start [7:30] is an awesome trick! I also really like how you showed all the settings screen by screen for those fx. Thanks for doing that! I'm watching your videos and learning so much.
Mine came in 4 days ago, and thanks to your videos, I'm already doing most anything I think up! It's not as difficult as it seems at first. And it's more versatile than I thought it was! Thanks Reinhardt! Again, I LOVE what you do with it. It's TOTALLY musical. Several vids by others mostly make it seem like a NOISE machine. I ordered mine after seeing some of your Busking videos.
Incredible, thanks for all the tips and tricks and for actually showing how it is supposed to work in really life. I am dizzy from your great performance (and the go-pro on your head 😂). Really cool. Just purchased several of your albums online … great stuff.
Hello Sir...I love your music and am inspired to purchase the 505 for my own music. But more than that, I loved your story about your faith... please keep up your great work, and God bless..
Thanks for this video, especially the last part is so helpful. Hoping to get started with a rc 505 soon and see how it flows. This is truly appreciated, thanks for inspiring and being. Sending love🙏🏻❤️
I loved hearing your music so much I bought an Rc 505 to move beyond my usual multi0tracking. Thanks so much for explaining some of how you do what you do. Feel free to explain more if you get the urge.
A really deep look behind the curtain whereas I usually have the view from infront (or from behind the cam). Well structured and understandable explained. And everything you explain is visible through this permanent view - it´s very helpful.
CHEERS MATE, I JUST BOUGHT MY LOOP STATION SO I HAVEN'T YET GIVEN IT A GO. I FELT I NEEDED TO HAVE AN IDEA BEFORE STARTING AND YOU WERE VERY HELPFUL.... CHEERS, I'LL GET BACK TO ONCE I HAVE GIVEN IT A GOOD GO OVER.......
The INST input is designed for audio up to +4dBu, which is what most professional instruments output. They output a much higher voltage than consumer or DJ equipment. The AUX input seems to be designed for headphone signal levels. So the normal output of a DJ-mixer (with RCA-connectors) would not be very loud compared to what the INST input can handle. It's a bit loud for the AUX input though, but if you keep the volume down, it makes sense that the AUX input sounds better. If you use a pro-audio mixer (with jack connectors), though, I'd expect the INST input to sound better.
Thank you for such an informative video. My rc-505 is due to arrive in 2 weeks. I will surely watching this video many more times!! Who know what the future has in store, exiting times. 🙏
hi, I am not a musician! I have tried but it's not in my DNA, but I Love music and with my Mac I make music that I love using Loops. I have now got to the point where I have exhausted all available loops, then I saw you video on youtube and have just got a 505! 2nd hand and I am going to give it my best shot! if it all goes wrong then I blame you lol.
That horn and the cello line worked perfectly, great mood. Thanks for the video, very informative, and love the vibe. I am also a musician/artist and have studio... If you ever need music to be mixed/mastered in a pro setting let me know. I like what you do, so if we develop a symbiotic relationship, I am all up for that...
I hate everything you are doing.....(HAHA! Signed, COMPLETELY JEALOUS!!) You have an amazing sound... as I listen to your live you do in this video, I come to the conclusion, you aren't making songs... YOUR'RE MAKING THE NEXT MOVIE SCORE SOUND TRACK to the next Indiana Jones Movie!! Great excellent job! Keep on exploring and expanding your talent! George from South Carolina USA
Hey Reinhardt! Thank you so much for your RC-505 tutorials and performances, you have extraordinary talent! I have a 505 on it’s way, and was wondering if you could set the machine to record specific 4, 8, 16 etc bar loops without having to hit the Play Button every time you wanted to stop recording? Basically set it up where it stops automatically after the set amount of bars is done. Is this possible?? Thank you for your time
Thanks for tips and ideas. Your music is an inspiration! I also use the Boss RC-505 and I agree the auxiliary in seems to have a little more clarity. The headphone out seems to have a little more punch too. I feel that the difference is more noticeable at louder volumes. In either case, I do notice I have to eq the bass when using the built in rhythms because the lows are so pronounced with the kick.
I saw a guy using the same footswitch that set it up so the second switch chooses the next track. That way you can start and stop the one that is currently selected and then move to the next track to record it. Then you can use all five tracks with the footswitch instead of just two of them. Not sure how you set that up. There must be a function in the 505 for selecting the next track that you can assign to a footswitch. There is a lot of good information in your video, though. Thanks!
The output effects being different for a b and c isn’t an problem with the unit or an issue. It works in series so a effect works first then gets sent to b and then c. This is done by design. I believe it is the same for input effects
Thanks for your awesome videos. You’re so very talented as a musician, and it’s nice of you to teach and share how to use your equipment. Most importantly, I was excited to watch your Pocket Rocks video and see your love for Christ in action! Two questions about the 505: 1. Could I run my electric or acoustic guitar right in the 505 and then out to powered speakers? Ie, can I have no amp at all? Just use the 505 as a multieffects unit for delay, reverb, chorus? (Of course I don’t expect it to creat great overdrives and stuff like that.) 2. Is it possible to have multi-part songs? Like a verse, then a totally different chorus with different chord progressions. So far, your videos I’ve watched have the same beat/progression for all 10-ish minutes. Only if you get a chance to answer ;-) Thanks. God bless!
How come you don't give props to your Novation Circuit and Strymon TimeLine in your gear list? I'd say these two powerful pieces of gear that were front and center in your live set deserve links if your guitar cam does. Otherwise awesome tutorial on the Boss RC-505. Love your music!
brother , have you ever connected a roli seaboard and rc 505 to each other... if so please help me to understand.. i cant get the sound of seaboard through the rc505+speaker.. İt'S sound always goes out from pc... thank you for all your beautiful, inspiring songs and videos. Love and respect
Your bonus at the end is exactly what I do with my rv 300 but it’s so limited compared to this ... this is just what I was hoping the 505 would do I’m sold ... but it’s so breakable :(
Love your videos! What would you recommend someone who is just getting into looping? What to buy I mean? I grew up playing drums but no longer have a drum kit. I now play acoustic and electric guitar and sing. I do have a guitar amp and a microphone but that's it. Just wondering on starting equipment? Thanks!
I"m trying to get a single elongated tone to loop without a spike at the join of the beginning/end of the loop. just using my voice through a mic, with a simple hum which is a consistent sound as I make it, starting the sound before the press of the record button and continuing the hum after hitting the stop recording of the loop... I would assume it would be a clean join but it seems to pop and clip is there a way to alleviate this? Or are looping machines more designed for rhythmic sounds which have a break in the sound to loop back on?
Thank you so much you've really inspired me, you're very talented and very creative and I bought the Strymon timeline just like you. My question is what settings do you normally keep the Strymon on please if you can help me with that I'm struggling with it. And what settings do you use for the microphone.
Thank you for this! One thing I can’t figure out that I’m sure is Easy is how to stop the automatic overdub. When I press the play button to stop the loop it automatically goes orange and I have to click 2x to stop. Any info on this? Thanks mon
I think it’s just a matter oh how u hit it, I’m having the same question- it seems if you push either icon ply or stop, it goes yellow, but if you SMACK it, it stops and loops on time- watch how he does it
Hey thanks for the vedio man must appreciated. Got a issue from the start when I press memory then left and right arrows input fx and trax fx options are not appearing on the screen. Any ideas anyone?
With the overdub, that kind of gives you ten tracks doesn't it? Can you mute the overdub or the original track at the same time, or just the overdub or original track at one time? Thanks
Reinhardt, how did you get the kick to hit on every quarter note on the last movement? The beat changed, but you never recorded a new beat. Did you get the beat to doubletime somehow? Your work with these instruments and devices is fantastic. I'm trying to do something similar but with different sounds.
Casa Kundalini Yoga Sat Nam I think it’s amazing! I have never owned one personally but it’s got the same operating system as the RC-505 which is great and it’s nice and compact, so this video should still be relevant to you, hope it helps, let me know.

Raspberry Rock - Off Grid Cabin Musicality, ambition, mic (shure SM58), Loopstation RC-505 and a lot of time and common sense! Good luck!
hey dude, can you use footswitch a to stop start and footswitch b to select / navigate through the other tracks ?
If I want to get into DJing would this be good?
Could you explain how you use the Novation Circuit ?
Hey! Thanks for all the tips, what kind of a microphone would you recommend putting on the rc-505?
Hi there, I would recommend any of the two microphones in the description of this video, either the shure or sennheiser!
The two most basic microphones you might want are called SM57 and SM58. The only difference between the two is the windscreen giving the SM58 more bass in closer proximity to the sound and the SM57 has a more even response at any distance. For vocals with lots of bass - SM58 is the industry workhorse and the first microphone for most vocalists, anything louder than a typical voice or very high pitch like bells and whistles use SM57. There's always better microphones for more money but these two are essential starter mics.
Am I right that you can’t improvise on your loops without recording the impro’s within the rc505 , I mean improvising without bypassing the rc ?
hey :-),
how did you manage to don't have your loop back in your microphone? i always have a little bit of the loop background from my speaker.

If you use an omnidirectional mic your going to have more issues. Other than that just try to keep your mic as far from your speakers as possible and keep it mixed down when your not using it.
