This is definitely a powerful writing tool and once mastered, can create one of the coolest modern live shows (especially since Marc Rebillet has gone viral). I used to love writing with my TC Electronics Ditto but now I primarily use Ableton with a footswitch when I’m writing with loops. Awesome content as always!
I've used the Boss RC 300 and a few others.... My favorite though...the AX8 effects pedal. It's an amp modeler with a looper. The sounds on it are insane. I sold my amp and all my pedals when I got it. Look up the online ratings, it's a masterful piece of equipment. I do like that bass effect alot though!

I've been eyeing this thing for a while... It's been out since at least 2013 (amazon listing date). I keep checking youtube reviews and google for the latest and greatest looper station I can use with a midi keyboard, guitar and a mic. Nothing new pops up. This and a floor pedal version more for guitarists from boss (303?) always shows up as the fanciest thing on the market. Thank you for confirming I can use it with a guitar. Hard to find videos of that. The floor pedal loop station has an expression pedal but less tracks, I think. Now I just have to find someone using it with a guitar and an amp. New subscriber. Good demo.
Look up DOVYDAS, he uses it on the floor and on a table with guitar and synth as a solo act. He is real good. I also bought one as a guitar player. Its amazing, MIDI is also very powerful. I control it and a Roland GR 55 from a Zoom G9 2tt via midi. Super powerful tool !!

Even though I don't make music in the electronic realm I find that playing around with gear like this is a creative goldmine for writing new ideas and getting myself out of my usual box. Anyone else in the same boat?
You have approached this very differently. All other videos I have seen have focussed on looping performance. Your comment regarding setting about learning new gear, aiming directly towards achieving personal objectives, is absolutely born out here by the way you approached working with this box. However, the level of complexity here is easy to dismiss. You only get the returns based on the effort you put in to finding the features that work for you. My 505 has been in its box for more than 3 years and I really need to take it away on holiday with me to have the time and head space to learn how to use it.
Don't do much of the music side of our business, it was very interesting learning how a Loop Station works-didn't realize you could do so much with the loop station. Plus a bonus to listen to Circa play guitar and create music!

(I'm a novice bassist.) 2- do I NEED to buy a microphone, even if I don't want to add vocals? 3- appears that you can make a full song, performed solo. The only way around that is to stop your pattern or loop on the jd xi right before the loop starts again, and it helps if you put it the measures before hand so you don't have to stop the looper at the samr time. Another thing is to either set your play/stop to record/overdub or record/stop. I personally use the record/overdub in everything that I want to have a reverb tail at the end, but I know what you mean, you might not want that in the beginning of the loop. The other way around that is to put it into record/play mode, so when you stop the jd xi patterns or sounds it doesn't bleed into the beginning of the loop, and if you want that reverb tail, you have to have a track effect on that sound in order for their to be a reverb or delay when you stop the track or tracks. If you need help explaining, I'm here. I don't have midi yet, but maybe there is a way to get it spot on with one controlling the other and commanding it to stop at the end of the loop, so you can have that perfect timing. I know it drove me a little crazy at first, but I found a method to get it pretty close.
HI, Anyone know if the Nektar Pacer will control the Boss Rc 505, allowing for Rec/Stop/Overdub/start for each track? i.e. One foot switch per Boss Rc 505 Track (with complete control). Apparently the Boss FCB1010 can do this but only by connecting or replacing a chip inside the Boss Hardware. Whereas the Roland FC-300 can achieve it all straight out of the box, or so I have read in forums (relating to the RC-505).
8:50 so when you're using your mic into the loop station.. a question popped up to me. As a drummer, if I recorded with an overhead mic into the looper would it sound OK? this is an idea for my guitar buddies so that they can take my drum beats home to practice with.. I want to be able to loop my lead and rhythm guitarists stuff through a half stack at my house to drum along to for practice when my band mates can't come over. I also want my lead and rhythm guitarist to be able to go home and practice with my drum beats, and the guitar lines. (rhythm guitarist to be able to practice with lead guitar lines and my drums beats at his house, - lead guitarist able to practice at his house with rhythm guitarist lines and my drum beats) I want something that will sound great, have a good amount of recording time (at least 1.5-2 hours minimum), and for us to be able to save new guitar riffs to a PC for safe keeping.
