Something about the Boss RC-505 makes people create videos with a reggae influence. Hard to find someone just dropping hip hop or guitar loos with this thing. Maybe thats why they didnt sell so well. Its a greta machine but imagine only seeing Moog analog synths creating reggae music...
Maybe they didn't sell elsewhere, but the RC-505 definitely dominated the beatbox markets
In fact Beatboxers are the regular adopters and, I will say, initial target… but the point is very few people goes deep in the use as “backing track” machine which after the firmware update this is. In the beggining was overpriced for what offered and maybe few people is aware about the improvements now it’s priced properly (444€ new and around 300€ at “craiglist” second hand market). Sometimes the machine is enough good for something but not for something else against competition. To my mind cames Pioneer toraiz sp16 vs Akai mpc one… the first is quite limited (but at the same time it has unique features) being more expensive second hand than the fully features mpc one NEW from shop…

I guess those who r using RC-505 for sketching their musical ideas are those who have a DAWless studio. Otherwise, why would one need RC-505? To use the DAW's transport functions, one could use the computer keyboard or a MIDI-control keyboard or a DAW controller (like e.g. CC121 for Cubase) or the remote control app for the DAW, running on the phone or tablet...
Unless I'm missing something, I don't get why would anyone need this gear, except for beatboxing or when working in a DAW-less studio.

When he adds bass line, it does not last the same as the first loop, but twice longer. How is that set up, because whenever I add a new track, it automatically makes it last as much as the first loop?

@@fortheloveofnoise Actually, it is pretty simple. You can use edit option for your tracks and set length to be "free". Then it can last longer than the first loop.

do all the other loops always sync with the measure of the first loop?
Check the roland web documentation for the latest firmware due it talks specifically about issues relate to that.

Been connecting my Hydrasynth to the Loop Station trying to do a remix of Blue man Group 'I Feel Love' For the singing I will try to use the Hydrasynth ribbon.
@Jorn Navarre Yeah the loopstation is great! I'm adding pedal connection to it so that I can use my feet to control it.
Can the RC505 switch track memory live while playing and still keep in sync (like the RC202 can)?
Yes. It was one of the improvements in the firmware update. Very few artist making use of that amazing feature IMO

doctor mix ! thanks you very much for information movies!! i wanne ask i buy this loop station in this year 2021 februari, and he is full now, so i try to put the numbers out true the computer, but discover that al the songs are split in 5 tracks and without the beat i record it. i wish so much that i can listeing to my songs the same way as true my loop station. can you mabe help me? happy gretings Jozefien from the Netherlands!

I've got one , usually put all keys n instruments into mixer & then into RC505 . I'm just wondering if I was using a keyboard with built in speakers , I do rather like the Korg SV2S , how would it be if I put my keys through looper then back through speakers ? ? , Just when I want to go out with just keys & looper for little house jam/parties .
they say it should work . had an SV1 & lots of other kit & I went to live with my bro' on his wide beam barge .on the River I sold everything & bought a Kronos 2 .( which is absolutely beyond me -) I came back to land & ever since been building up my live gigging gear with RC505 & 202 , sync together ,7 tracks. reface YC , Microkorg XL Global wave drum .D1 piano Ukulele Bass , & gutarlele , melodica & harmonicas . I come from Rhythm n Blues / Gospel roots , but I love reggae riddum & latin , so this past year have been completely Re working my songs & approach to looping & playing Live .. Just to put the icing on the cake & a few cherries , I've got a Korg Kaoss Pad 3+ on order arriving this weekend .
the Kaoss Pad is going to give my keys a complete over haul . I may get another synth later this year .

@@PeterGarofalo if the keyboard has aux input could be possible but you should put some attention on feedback loop and limitations since you want to record the keyboard sounds and it will require mute the external input of rc505 or you will grow a “noise ball” in few rounds. Best option is working with in ear monitor and, everytime you can, external PA instead the keyboard ones. Peace and Unity
Can you tell me what sets the master loop length? If you start with a four bar loop... does that set the loop at four bars, so any future loops on other channels will be restricted to four bars? Or if you record a four bar bass line loop, can you record say a 16 bar melody on top of that and the machine will adjust the master loop length to 16 bars?
It had a firmware update fxing some of the issues with the “first take lenght” so check the roland site (downloads) for the extra document which has the info you need. Cheers!

whats the yamaha keyboard you were using ?
I have an RC 202 + a MOXF6 (like U).....I work in loop with the MOXF6 in pattern mode in loop mode and MIDI CLOCK SYNC with the RC202. The result is...16 instrument tracks + 2 Audio (voice) tracks and about 300$ less.
I sing polyphonic folk with my daughters and have never done this before. I would love to record ourselves. Can i use this as when i am showing them their individual parts as i cannot sing all 3-4 voices at once and play the hand drums. What equipment do i need to order? Please help. I am afraid to buy something that will jot work or not have all the equipment i need and i have nothing no mic nothings. Just my drums and my voice. Can you please guide me as what to buy include everything i need because i know nothing of this technology and well to have a workshop to go to is out of the question since we live in the middle of the woods. Its just out drums, our voices and mother nature.
You will need this the Boss Loop Station RC-505, a microphone that connects by XLR (most professional microphones do, and manufacturers will usually tell you which microphones are good for voice and/or percussion), speakers with a TRS (also called line) input, and the XLR and TRS/line cables. You will also need a place in your home to plug in the power for the Loop Station and speakers. If you want to record you would have to connect the Loop Station to your computer that has a digital audio workstation (DAW) application installed, such as Audacity.
What might be a lot easier is to just install Audacity on your computer and record a different track for each part using the microphone that is part of your laptop. (If you are using a desktop you will need to buy a USB microphone). Then you can play back any of the parts you want and move them around more easily.
