Absolutely awesome! KISS rules and Dick Clark was the best. He always showed support to them. He was so much fun on TV. He especially made hit countdown shows and New Years Eve shows so much fun to watch. He even introduced KISS again New Years Eve 1996/97 when they reunited in make up. New Years Eve has never been the same without Dick Clark, but KISS keeps on rocking to this day. I have loved KISS my whole life since I was 8 in 1980. I've seen them 26 times live and met them once in 1995, and I have a museum's worth of collectibles in my house!
I saw KISS on this tour, January 1978, Chicago Stadium. The openers were Rockets, a band from Detroit that was basically Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels without Mitch Ryder. That was a fun evening.
And the confetti is how you knew there were no more curtain calls or encores because they were scared to slip on it in their 7 inch leather heels. Masters of hype and glory.
Kiss have the best marketing and merchandising of their logo and personas than anyone ever. They probably made most of their money from their merch and Images. There’s Kiss Dolls, Stickers, Mugs, Keychains, etc. Anything you can print a Logo or Image on. And Why not? People love to buy that stuff and collect things. 😎👏🏻🎸
Very true. Ace Frehley said when he left the band he got a cash settlement but also a lifetime percentage on their albums because the KISS catalog still sells consistently after all these years there’s always a new audience that discovers them
Correction, They sold their catalog to a Japanese company and we. can all thank Ace Frehley for coming up with the famous KISS logo and even Ace suggested to Paul that he should settle on one black star over his eye. Ace was the genius @@jennifersman7990
The songs played to death but this is the best version of ever heard of it aces guitar solo is awesome in the middle with the dinosaur bend to end it into the power chord
I still think Gene should have sung the first verse and Peter Criss the second half in this song!!! Peter was by far the best voice in the band and Black Diamond and Hard luck woman should have showed us Kiss fans that!!! 🐱🐱
I remember when nobody knew what they looked like under that make-up, and it was a big mystery. Must have been nice for them in a way as they could walk down the street or go for dinner without being hassled like Elvis or other celebrities were
Kiss was great but always a little too hard of rock for many of us in the 70's. We all liked them but usually not in our top 10. But most of us identified with the hard partying of bands and copied them. It was not until many years later we found out many of our favorites never drank or did drugs!
What was Peter Criss saying durring the a cappella parts? Paul looks like he was drunk when he did his makeup, the star looks too big or not proportionate
haha, I thought Peter is just saying "all nite!" I also think Paul's makeup simply got sweaty, ran and got messy as this is the last song of the concert.
@@JohnDoe-ny1wp Yes, all time greats. These kids will never know greats like the crazy man Slim Whitman and his flaming codpiece. Or Engelbert Humperdinck playing blistering bass for Motorhead. Those kids will never know what we saw back then.

This song kinda sucks.. Its sad that its the only song people know them by.. It would like someone only knowing Queen for Radio Ga Ga.. U would think they totally suck
You can't blame them for the sound of this clip. This is from the Capital Center, Largo, who were one of a handful of venues that did their own in house filming for either screens or skyboxes and would have used the front of house mix for their sound. While the old CC was great for bootleg collectors none of the recordings will ever be mistaken for properly recorded, mixed and filmed official releases. Kiss used some of these shows (Houston being another great "bootleg" venue) in their Kissology series but the audio and video quality is simply bootleg standard, nothing approaching what you would have expected or got from an official live release. It's actually surprising they allowed it to be used on TV, but for such a visual band, the scarcity of professionally recorded 70's footage has always surprised me.
@Susan Sawyer If KISS was using modern equipment this concert would have sounded great. It doesn't hold up with time. Maybe it is just the reply that sounds bad.
@@jetcitysinatra7300 Maybe it's just a case of you not listening. There were COUNTLESS live albums made during the 70's and they still sound fine today... nothing to do with them not having "modern equipment" back then. It's all about how that live sound was recorded and mixed... an explanation I have already given you in the case of recordings from the CC, but continue on thinking you know better if that's what floats your boat.

Those of us who had copies of the Houston shows on VHS back in the day can see and hear the difference. Perhaps you could put on a copy of the Washington show from Kissology and compare it to this clip. Dick Clark introduced Kiss to the world very early just as the band was starting to get fans.
that Johnny-come-lately used car salesman is standing next to a Love Gun album cover cutout.
When a band is on tour for so long they all end up playing their songs faster and faster.
You always play faster live....But that was actually the correct tempo🤔🤘
Even faster in the 80s so they cool squeeze in as many songs as possible
Kiss fan until I die. There will NEVER be another band that will outdo them.

I'm sure I caught this originally. being a huge fan. Even as a kid I never dug this tune though.

Too bad about the poor audio quality, because this is a great performance!

Gene Simmons, the originator of the man bun.

A hyper speed version, the reason for which could be Peter Criss's condition...😛
Peter in his prime was one of the best five drummers on the planet!!!! Team Peter and Ace always
Gene sang the wrong line.
What the hell does Peter keep mumbling into the mic??????
Notice the blood residue around Genes mouth. This is tour footage, not a studio performance. Shame on you Dick Clark. Can't fool the faithful

From 1978 Kiss Alive 2 tour this show was from Largo Maryland at the The Capital Center !! I was there !!
Gene Simmons is the greatest bass player ever. Almost as great as Bob Dylan, the drummer for the Who.
Cant beat Tiny Tim, the drummer of Slayer.
