- Footage taken in September 2021. My rig is a 2006 Lexus GX470. It has a 3” coil lift that includes Vated suspension from Fat Bobs, Eibach coils up front, OME coils in the rear, and SPC UCA’s. Wheels are the factory TRD Pro 4Runner wheels and tires are BF Goodrich 285/70R17 (~33”).

Great video! I absolutely LOVE seeing fellow GXs out and showing off their capabilities. A-TRAC is an amazing thing when you see it at work.
Thank you!
You are a superb driver! You use 110% of the gx470’s abilities. Bravo!
Thank you for the compliment!
I was thinking the same thing. Great driving. The Lexus is the best. I have a GX460 and it is amazing.
Thats a hell of a trail I already knew the GX is a really capable vehicle but this video give me a bit more confidence. Good job!!
UNBELIEVABLE GREAT OFFROAD SUV GX470👌
He did good. They did great
A-trac is amazing!
Those TRD wheels look great.
Thanks!
I can’t wait to take mine there
Moab is the greatest place in the world. Just a true phenom of landscape. You will love it.

I was there at the exact time with my 04 GX! I took mine to Hell's revenge and the Jeep to poison spider. Would have been nice to cross paths with both of our GX's
Dang. We actually originally planned on hells revenge and then switched it up last minute to poison spider. Wish I could have seen another GX out there.
Nice man! I’m looking into purchasing one of these.
0:29 LOL This happened to a friend of mine. He refused to go any further because his hitch rubbed. Nice ride!
I rarely tow. That’s really what the hitch is for! Protects my rear end all over Moab.
Great driving an impressive rig. And no bueno on BFG ATs for smooth rock, Apparently.
Awesome to see more GX470’s out! About to pick one up this week. Only problem with the video is the Ute flag! 😜 (BYU fan, just ribbing ya) Keep the videos coming!
I forgive any BYU fan if they buy a GX470.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I got a 2006 last month. Installed eibach 2.8in lift kit. Currently waiting on delivery of Level8 mk6 wheels, -10 offset and Nitto ridge grapplers 285/70/17. Should end up very similar to yours. I think they are very capable, yet unnoticed, vehicles.
@@percyjackson2800 I Have the Stage 2 kit Icon with the Overland Springs Icon 52800
@@percyjackson2800 my front springs are Eibach. Yeah you’ll be very similar to my setup with that. A platform that is nearly perfect imo.
Time for a locker (or two)!!!
I mean yes I want and will eventually do a rear locker. But why this comment when I just did the whole trail without issue without one?
GO UTES>>>LOVE it
I have a question for you, what did you use for your roof rack? I have a 06 v8 4runner and I like the way you did the roof rack
These are crossbars from LFD Off Road. They mount directly to the factory roof rails and then you can mount anything on them. Keeps it very low profile and much more inexpensive than a full roof rack.
Bad ass! And, do I hear the siren song of the gx...the exhaust manifold leak?
Yeah apparently I have it. Not sure how or when I’m going to take care of it. Apparently it’s quite expensive to fix.
водитель очень не осторожный
Dang, I didn’t think a GX is this capable! I have an 04 GX too with a 2.5” Bilstein lift. Do you have a locker installed? Subscribed!
No locker. Just let the ATRAC do it’s thing. Honestly in the end this wasn’t even all that difficult for the GX. I never once was in over my head.
@@chasechapman4689 you have more gut than I do 😄. Driver skills and picking the right lines is the key. Maybe one day I will attempt.
@@hccvad1973 I’ve had lots of Moab experience which certainly helps.
@@chasechapman4689 is that 285 KO2 tires you are running? What psi did you air down to?
@@hccvad1973 yes 285/70R17 KO2’s. I was running 22 PSI here. Higher than normal and you could argue (as some already have here) that I could have gone lower to help me more but I wanted to keep enough to drive back to camp on the freeway without airing up. Did the job just fine.
What lift are you using? I'm used to seeing all kinds of external mods to help with approach and departure angles, but I like that you were able to keep factory bumpers with great success. I kinda like to keep my offroaders incognito lol
never mind, man i need to learn to read
Yeah I also don’t want aftermarket bumpers. At least not a front one for sure. As far as the lift goes idk that it’s the specific lift combination I have but simply that I got a full 3” of lift out of it. That’s helped a bunch along with the 33’s obviously. With that said each corner of the rig has some fairly gnarly scratches. I’ve come close to tearing them off so it may not last forever.
Sorta looks like the tires aren't aired down far enough, probably would do better with a few psi less.
Is there something better than completing the trail without issue? I get people always want lower PSI for some reason but I had it at the PSI I like to have sufficient ground clearance and so I can still drive back to camp on the freeway comfortably.
@@chasechapman4689 your tires were just slipping more than they should, its generally a little safer to be aired down on rocks. But you do you man, I was just saying what I saw.
@@jithin15 fair enough and I can see areas that happened. I’ve just seen enough off road videos posted online to know everybody and their dog has their own way of airing down and what they like and for some reason everyone seems to think their way is the right way. I did it at this psi for a very specific reason and wouldn’t change it. You can see my 4Runner Poison Spider video and I was aired down more in that and I actually didn’t like it as much. Even with some of the benefits it gave. My point being there’s no hard and fast rule of what is right every time for everyone. That said thanks for watching!
You the man but I thought the same thing. Yeah, ground clearance. That’s a good point. What’s the psi here? Everything is a trade off.
Btw, your rig looks just like mine. I was thinking about doing fins and things because I saw it rated as a four but there’s no way I’m doing that.
@@frasiec yeah fins n things is a 4 and poison spider is a 6. You’d be just fine on Fins. We did it in a stock GX a few years ago. There’s far less capable vehicles that have done fins. It’s just one you have to be mindful on. Not necessarily modded up.
What is that little click noise in the engine. My GX has it too, is it normal?
What time stamp are you hearing? I don’t generally hear any clicking.
@@chasechapman4689 I think he’s talking about the 1:04 time stamp area
That's common problem on higher mileage 2UZ engine. It's cracked exhaust manifold leak.
@@batuaerial213 yep.... we all seem to have them
Did I hear Devils Dance Floor coming out of that thing?
Haha yeah. But it wasn’t coming out of my rig. It was coming out of my cousins rig that was right behind the camera man.
@@chasechapman4689 love it! Good music and this vid helped me decide to keep my 2008. Struggling with some mods but gonna push through and get em done!
@@reachcontrol nice! Yeah I went all in on this rig for the next ten years probably. It’s too good to give it up for something that would cost 3 times as much and get very little improvement.
Jeeps be like😳😶
Is this using the original GX470 rear end?
Yes. Fingers crossed haha.
Is your rear differential still intact?
Haha thankfully yes. I’m sure it’s felt it’s time was close on some of these.
What tire pressure were you running?
Kinda high at 22 but that was on purpose to split the difference as I was on highway and on trail off again on again all weekend. Didn’t want the hassle of going up and down 3-4 times a day. It suffices just fine.
2.5” lift and 285s?
It’s a full 3” lift and 285’s yes.
17x7 wheels?
Yes
Why are there goats filming this video?
I don’t know what this means.
I’m buying one pristine condition to keep it stuck and unmolested 😂
