This covers damn near EVERY truck from the 50's. Rugged and utilitarian were selling points for trucks, in that era. The people buying trucks, were buying them as tools for working, not as fashion statements. And, fuel economy was not exactly a top priority, either. Standard transmissions were what you typically found in trucks of the era; most truck buyers weren't inclined to spend extra on automatic transmissions. Automatic transmissions were an option that one ordered for the car, so that the wife could operate it more easily.
None of these trucks are, or were, universally hated. Indeed, today, some of these examples are highly sought after.
Oh, and by the way, General Motors didn't have the "Forward Look" design. That was the design cue of Virgil Exner, over at Chrysler. So, the Apache, or the GMC equivalent, wouldn't have been "Forward Look".
Every single one of these trucks is a far better truck than the garage that's being produced today, with sensitive electronics and unnecessary features that will break under light usage.

All the talk about stock models with illustrations of customized or "left-to-rot" models. What crap.

Hope the facts are more accurate than the vehicles - a Chevy in-line 6 with a shot of a Merc V8. A 63 Dodge when you'r talking about a 58...

These are American trucks from the 50's. American engine units are in Cubic INCHES NOT CENTEMETERS! SHIT CAN THE ASININE METRIC MEASUREMENTS AS NO ONE KNOWS WHAT ENGINES YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!

The absolute WORST has to be this video! I knew it was all downhill when you featured a Chevrolet truck and referred to it with the "forward look" (a registered Chrysler trademark) description! The views of modern (even other companies) engines when stating engine options was aggravating as well. Finally, gasoline was 19 cents per gallon, no one was concerned with fuel economy in the 1950's!

Cool video featuring vintage pick ups. That's the long and the short of it. Scrap the narration and put some late 50s rock & roll behind it.

If you’re going to find fault with these models (which I question), use correct and historical images. Showing modified engines and street rods weakens your argument.
Also, the period sales figures for some of these trucks shows that the public was not as turned off as you imply.
My Pop had a Willys - damn mule of a truck. He loved that thing. I did too.

I would trade my 2004 F 150 for anyone of the worst pickups in this video, but I did enjoy the nostalgic trip.

Let's start with the first error. Willys is Not pronounced Willies. It Is pronounced Willis.
    Accuracy goes down from there.

By the way, the Willys name was originally pronounced will-us.

Engine displacement described in metric configuration was sheer folly. What the hell are you thinking. These are not japanese motorcycles.
    YOU CAN DO BETTER.
