Thanks for uploading this video as it’s quite interesting how professional players do the short back hand serve. This is interesting as how the backhand short serve has so much variety and as you said, each player has your own style, but all the serve skim the net and land just inside the line . I struggle to have a consistency on my short serve. I think it’s unique amongst racket sport how the short service is crucial in Badminton compared to other racket sports.
For the vast majority of their play your watchers are going to be under alternative service rules, where the 1.15 height is not used (shuttle below bottom rib)and their racket shaft has to point downward on contact with the shuttle. The latter is increasingly a fault with many new players as they watch the service judged top players action and try to mirror it.
I've also noticed what sometimes seems a very slight downward cutting action during contact with the shuttle. I was wondering if that has any effect on the shuttle that would be advantageous. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into the serving action.
Why do pro players hardly ever get called for the head of the racket being lower than the handle? Level with the landle, isn't lower than the handle. But a lot of the time it isn't called. Another channel claimed that the rules were changed to allow this. 🧐 But when i asked my coach whether that was true, he said that was 🐂💩.
because it doesn't really give any advantage if everyone is doing it or choosing not to do it. The service height and contact with the shuttle are the most important parts.

My students play with this rule and it annoys the shorter players so much!

@@palmckinney Yes, some players do, it can help the shuttles so that it comes down quicker after going over the net
