My memories of '90s makeup were more of dark red/brown lipstick and smudgy black eye makeup; I guess I was more in touch w/ the grunge scene.

People are mentioning that these colors weren't in in the 90's were obviously not around ravers. They wore colors like this (makeup). Maybe mainstream wore darker browns and neutrals but I remember the cool kids in school wearing the bright makeup.

The 90s I remember are flannels, baggy pants, big buns, tanktops, dark lipliner and light lipstick, thin eyebrows that make you look mad, and big ass hoop earrings. I was more intouch with the gangsters i guess 😂
The tutorial was great! But I felt like there was too much going on so I couldn't really concentrate since at some points of the video a lot of things popped up st once. Some may disagree and say it was great but we all have our opinions, and that was mine :)

Cute look but I don't remember those colors during the 90's. The 90's were about simplicity! after the garish 80's. I owned several shades of brown lipstick and altho our brows were very thin I don't remember wearing a lot of eyeshadow during that time.
Yolee B Where I am from this was the style. I was born in 95' but I see pictures all the time of my family who wore these trends or similar. I guess it may be different in alternate places.
As another comment said, Michelle most likely meant for this video to be about bringing the 90's into today's world and not just completely copying 90's look. :)
Yolee B This isn't an authentic 90's look. It's 90's inspired. I took color inspo from Lisa Frank, Sailor Moon, Spice Girls and etc :) If you would like for me to create an authentic 90's look, I can add that to my shoot list and do a collab with my favorite beauty creators :)

Ahhhhh! Thank you for the breath of fresh air! I LOVED the 90's!! Graduated from high school in '98!! Woo hoo! Life was simple then Mish wasn't it?? Passing notes, calling our friends house through the land line with our corded phone asking the parents if we could speak to them and then hearing..."Get off the phone!!!" We even had guts to call our crushes on the phone with the parents! Clueless was my fashion inspiration movie! I loved wearing mini skirts with knee highs and Mary Janes! Remember those??? And those stackable lead pencils when if you lost just ONE lead, your totally screwed....I miss my cassette tapes and recording off the radio! What about you Mish?? I was born in '91 so this kinda makeup and styling was my standard of beauty growing up. I'm pretty sure this is one of my fav beauty vids ever. And between you and Kat Graham I'm getting my full and entire 90's life! The editing is the best and I need this to be a trend lol. All the big beauty gurus should do a 90's look. It's not necessarily for the 2000's. As Lexi said, yes, it's inspired. It does show some of the 90s but you'll get the mix.

I thought the 90s was dark lipstick and crop tops
lilypippili and you are right, I was a 90's teen, and the crop tops were the fashion must have, like the Edges, but the pastel lip and all this colors don't match the era. Dark, plum and nude matte lips were the way to go... no contour either, the rest was just too editorial than what we see on the real life
lilypippili I think this was more oriented towards 90s hip hop fashion or Spice Girl inspired fashion, where there were more vibrant colors.
That's grunge. There was also a huge pop reference. Like someone said "The Spice Girls" and also "TLC" and the whole Latin infusion with Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias.
***** and Tania Sudduth sure the pop culture was huge in the 90's, myself was a spice girls fan, but the trend wasn't pastel colors, for sure not that lip colour, for pop was vibrant colors, and just in the end of the 90's, for the majory of the time we used nude, plum, red and pink lips and the fashion was as vibrant as the makeup, I livede that...
lilypippili Before we went to dark lipstick, we had a repeat of the red lipstick trend in the mid 90s, and then we switched over to the dark wine-red lipstick. Sometimes we had naked lips with just the dark lip liner around the lips. I cringe when I see pics of myself with that style, but that was the popular trend.

At my country, the makeup at 90s was very simple and natural. Pink and coral lipsticks was very popular at that time, and lip gloss too. The shape of the nails was usually oval and the colors was close to a pinkish nude. The clothes was more casual and comfortable. Today the makeup here is more vibrant, gloss is a bit out of style, nude colors at lipstick and nail polish are very popular. The cat eye liner and long lashes are very used. The clothes are more sexy and elegant today.

Paint was the best program and I remember always begging my cousins to let me use their computer so that I could use it. Solitaire also and later on, pinball. Learned how to play Freecell later on. Never got the hang of Hearts and still don't! God life was good and simple.
