Just a beautiful man inside and out. Loved his family and his fans. I was fortunate to have seen him perform live twice during the early to mid 70s with his Stone Canyon Band. I loved his early stuff, but was also very taken by his late 60s/70s work. He earned my greatest respect when he started covering Tim Hardin, Harry Nilsson, and of course, Bob Dylan. Rick wrote some excellent songs during this time as well. Take a listen to his Easy To Be Free recording. Beautiful song. I will always mourn his untimely passing. Thank you, dear man for sharing your talents with us. Miss you.
Such a cool diddy, a vivid childhood memory. I remember that when I hear this song, I always knew it was melancholy tune and full of innuendo. Being in 2nd grade when it came out, the song always brought about memories of a disappointed musician, but not quite sure who all the people references were, lol. ~ smoky, western flavor tune with a very smooth vocal, ....... damn fine song to have a shot of tasty whiskey to. Cheers, and rest easy Ricky ~ bet you're finally at the right garden party
What a wonderful and hot singer and actor! He is absolutely beautiful and his songs will stay forever! I will love that wonderful guy until I die! Ricky is, was and will be my Superstar! What a great and wonderful voice!

"The seven people killed in the crash were: Ricky Nelson, 45, and his fiancée Helen Blair, 28; sound technician Donald 'Clark' Russell, 35; The Stone Canyon Band (Nelson's backing group): Andy Chapin, 30, pianist; Rick Intveld, 22, drummer; Bobby Neal, 38, guitarist; and Patrick Woodward, 35, bassist. Also on board were pilot Brad Rank, 34, and co-pilot Kenneth Ferguson, 40, who survived the crash."

He played this song at Disneyland in 1973 during a midnight seniors graduation event. So cool!
This live version is very good. "If memories were all I sang, I'd rather drive a truck." 🖤🩵

such a sad sad life he led--i knew his wife, Kristin, and the problems they had were huge....but i loved his music.
