I absolutely love this. Brings back memories when I to work on Soap with Billy Crystal, he and I would play backgammon in between takes. Sweet memories!
YES! And if You LOVE BIlly... see is last Stand up that aired on HBO called "700 Sundays" About his family Growing up in Brooklyn and How his dad died when he was 15 and His dad's Record/Recording store and studio and all of the GREAT Jazz and Big Band musicians that his Dad and Uncle knew and worked with and recorded AND we be at his house alot when he was growing up! Just an INCREDIBLE and Slightly "Tear Jerker" Stand-up! It's AWESOME!!!
I worked on Fathers Day. Robin truly was a genius and a nut. His ability to make you laugh at any given moment was legendary. I was a craft service stagehand. He'd come up and say, "Triple espresso." I thought, oh boy, here we go - ten seconds to blast off. He wasnt 'acting' he really was a powerhouse of (comedic) energy. In fact, I worked on 5 of Robin's films, and what I miss about him the most was how genuine he was. Most days, he'd have the crew in stitches in between takes then go on set and purposefully do lines off the top of his head that were funnier than anything the script called for. Once he found your funny button, he'd just keep pushing it until it hurt to laugh. He had a real gift for that. He was a wonderful man, who, when everyone else would be at lunch, he more often than not would spend his hour off with Make A Wish kids giving them every ounce of his being. I loved him and think of him often. He may be gone, but I dont think he'll EVER be forgotten.
I so wish they could continue the recording during the commercials. I think the footage would be priceless! Especially with Robin Williams. I miss him. I'm sure he's making God laugh every day.
This was my favorite Tonight Show episode of all time. The power wasn't working because of rolling blackouts in the LA area, they had to scrap an entire "Iron Jay" skit and the only guests they had scheduled for the show that night were Billy and Robin. Leno depended on Billy and Robin to save the rest of the show that night and they delivered. This episode still leaves me in stitches every time I see it. Thanks for uploading this.
“How many kaleidoscopes did you kill?” Omg hilarious!!! Why have I never seen this before?!? Dying of laughter!!!! Billy Crystal is the best! RIP Robin Williams!
Quite possibly Leno's best show ever!!! I remember that there was some sort of power problem in the studio that night, they said they couldn't do most of the bits that they had scheduled.....so it was pretty much Billy and Robin let off their leashes and it was amazing!!
If I remember the guests they had planned cancelled due to the power issues in the city and Jay contacted his 2 standup buddies who were in town, Robin and Billy came in impromtu and you can hear Jay thank them at the end saying they both saved their butts tonight.
Yes! I remember I had recorded it at the time and loaned the tape to a friend. She never returned it. I have been searching for this on the internet off and on for years, know that it eventually had to show up!
The chemistry among these 3 is just perfect. Williams was always at his best improvising, funnier than anything scripted. I almost peed in my pants at the Joan Embrey routine!
If you’re listening through head phones put both in. As it’s only coming out of one speaker/ headphone and that’s the left one. Had the same problem until I plugged both in.
If you have watched talk shows since Jack Paar you would be hard-pressed to find two legendary comedians on stage together improvising with that kind of love Robin and Billy truly loved each other like brothers it had one of the best comic chemistry relationships in the history of Comedy
I tried watching this video 7 times, but robin's suit hypnotized me every time. I can't remember anything past the 1 minute mark and I'm clucking like a chicken.
LMFAO!!! OHHH MY GODS THAT was DAMNED FUNNY!!! That reminds me of an Actual Robin Joke... "Ahhh a Man who Fancies Chickens! Are You a Farm Boy? You'll Remember this sound SQUEEELLLLP!" Just TOO FUNNY! :D
Absolutely laughed out loud several times!😂 no other contemporary comedians do that for me anymore… miss Robin and cherish Billy. They don’t make comedy like that anymore.
I was in middle school when this episode happened & rarely was allowed to stay up late, but for some reason I got to stay up for this episode & have never forgotten it. I’m sure the blackout was a pain for the producers & folks behind the scenes…but what a gift for Jay to be able to get off-script and just let Robin & Billy just go! The decades-long friendship is so clear, the comfort level & trust that allowed them to just play off each other for half the show. So many hilarious improved moments! And the end where they shout “PEOPLE OF EARTH” and “it’s the Mother Ship” and Robin does sign language while the band plays the first notes of “Star Trek”…it cracks me up every time! One of my favorite Tonight Show memories.
An extremely rare incredible moment of true craftsmen plying their trade. Our lives have been blessed by this. Unlike me, these Two are... and always will be immortal. Thank you gentlemen. 🦇🖤🦇💯💪
Billy just puts an idea out there and Robin just runs with it. "Why do I feel like Joan Embry and I just brought him out." And away they go. Even had Leno cracking up.
I've come back to watch the whole clip. Robin and Billy...they were so good together. Just a subtle hint and they would riff off each other. I honestly think that we won't see the likes of this brilliance anytime soon. Anybody out there enjoyed Billy's movie, 'Mister Saturday Night'? I thought that this was a brilliant film.
I was watching Johnny Carson shows last night. He listened to his guests. Today's hosts talk over them. It's not about them but the guests. I think they should all take notes from Johnny!
Dedicated to Robin Williams The humble stand-up made the world laugh. I improvised every second. He easily brought to tears Your viewer and your listener Robin Williams pedaled. To be honest with you Jay Robin and Billy was the most chemistry I've ever seen between three people on a talk show host show it's truly unique what took place this night
When the power outage happened and Robin made that joke about the Mothership calling, I was waiting for Billy to go, "Ork calling Mork, come in Mork..."
I’m crying laughing with a wet Kleenex ….( I know TMI ) and crying grief tears bc Robin was inexplicably on another level. I’m so grateful for his body of work and the legacy of sheer genius he shared so freely. RIP from the whole wide world still in awe of you.❤
Robin was a comedic beast. Nobody will ever replace him. RIP good sir
This is such an incredible tango between Crystal and Williams. 2 truly gifted talents.
Billy Crystal takes every comedic offer of a moment to play that Robin Williams hands him. It's such a joy to watch them work so seamlessly together.
I'd never seen them together before.
Not many people could keep up with Robin, but billy could actually push him forward.
ROBIN WILLIAMS SINGING WITH THE BAND AFTER THAT COMMERCIAL BREAK IS LEGEND!! I can't handle it!!
POWER'S OUT :)
jim Last LOL!!!!
Powers Out... a quickie from Robin.. That Kevin Eubanks band was fantastic...!!
Robin had the band and the audience just about as well as The Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown!
yet somehow, if he wasn't famous, would we think this guy is just "out of it"
Young comedians today riff off each other but nothing is anywhere near this level. These are the Greek gods of comedy.
I feel like robins suit is a pretty good representation of how his mind worked.
You are absolutely right !
As is his facial hair!
I agree on the suit.
how many kaleidoscopes did Robin Williams have to kill to make that suit?
agreed, quite psychedelically confident he is.
I absolutely love this. Brings back memories when I to work on Soap with Billy Crystal, he and I would play backgammon in between takes. Sweet memories!
Were you also the co-pilot on John Denver's last flight?
OMG! Will we ever see their like again? Genius in the service of humanity. How wonderful!
These two had chemistry beyond belief. They don’t even need to speak, they flow right into bits together seamlessly.
Because they were best friends. They loved each other...
Pretty good chemistry between the two. Plus genuine respect and friendship... Very nice clip!
Two of the most talented men I have ever had the privilege to see. We have lost Robin I pray that Billy stays with us for a very long time.
Tim Kopp yes!!

This is the kind of comedy I love. The kind of stuff that leaves you laughing non-stop to the point where you're crying, and falling off your couch.
Every time I find something new on RUclips of Robin, the more I miss him. Thanks for sharing, but damn it hurts.
Robin's passing hit me deeply.
I feel the same!
Finally, after 6yrs+, it has stopped hurting. Finally, it's just lovely. :) Thank you.
Terribly 😓
Just to think about how terribly he was hurting 😞
This was absolutely brilliant. Robin Williams and Billy Crystal complement each other perfectly.
Robin Williams & Billy Crystal played off of each other, it's like they knew what the other person was thinking
Ugh man, at least Billy Crystal is still alive. Please never die Billy Crystal

Wow. That sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing your memories.
These two geniuses, Robin & Billy, together were unbelievable. Throwing Jay In there makes it the best TV ever. We miss Robin so much!!
Jay was in this video😂
If only we could let robin know how much his life was worth to us......
I love the song 🎶 awesome !!
I so wish they could continue the recording during the commercials. I think the footage would be priceless! Especially with Robin Williams. I miss him. I'm sure he's making God laugh every day.
This is comedy from the last century. I love these actors, grew up with them but this makes me feel old. Thank God for RUclips and clips like these.
How can you not laugh when Robin was around? He was a comic genius and one of a kind. No one else like him. He is dearly missed.

The power was out. HOW DID THEY RECORD? Hell of a backup for the time.
I love that that’s why robin was singing the “POWER OUT” song 😂
I agree, it's crazy and Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh Robin’s cocaine years
THESE were the days. How I miss 1997 and everyone who was there.
I miss the 90s too. Best decade ever.
Amazing - there will never be anyone as good as Robin Williams
That "power out" jam solidified Robin as the comic equivalent of a great jazz improviser to me, so much comical and musical talent and skill
I really loved them together. This video makes me happy and sad at the same time.
“How many kaleidoscopes did you kill?” Omg hilarious!!! Why have I never seen this before?!? Dying of laughter!!!! Billy Crystal is the best! RIP Robin Williams!
It was great to see these three on-screen at the same time. Billy Crystal and Robin Williams had wonderful synergy.
Man Robin Williams is unbelievable, what an amazing performer and he was just being himself.
You can see the love and respect they had for each other
Two of the quickest lightning speed comedians of all time......none and i mean none can hold a candle with these two kings
Quite possibly Leno's best show ever!!!

Robin Williams didn't need an interviewer. You invite him and leave...
@@animalyze7120 That’s really cool! Perfect save, and really delightful!
Robin was the greatest performer, period!
That was so fun to watch. Billy and Robin were so great together.
"How many kalideoscopes did you kill for that jacket?" Best line ever
I could never think of anyone more fitting to wear such a ridiculous suit, he really owns it. I actually think it is cool.
and Robin genuinely laughs.
Robin always had the IT!
The chemistry among these 3 is just perfect. Williams was always at his best improvising, funnier than anything scripted. I almost peed in my pants at the Joan Embrey routine!
Thank you for posting this clip, my cheeks hurt from laughing. Great Talent! Love those guys.
There is no audio. The world was a much brighter place with Robin Williams in it! He will forever be missed!
I have been trying for a week to hear this segment. Cannot find it with audio 😢
If you’re listening through head phones put both in. As it’s only coming out of one speaker/ headphone and that’s the left one. Had the same problem until I plugged both in.
It plays fine on my TV with the Roku App but it's totally silent on my cell phone in both the YT app and a separate browser.
This is amazing stuff. These two and Leno are comedy genius. Alone they're hilarious, but the real time interactions are priceless.
If you have watched talk shows since Jack Paar you would be hard-pressed to find two legendary comedians on stage together improvising with that kind of love Robin and Billy truly loved each other like brothers it had one of the best comic chemistry relationships in the history of Comedy
I can't believe I haven't seen these two together before. They're absolute geniuses apart, together . . .
Now these two together with their improvisations were awesome!
Probably one of THE funniest things I've ever watched! I'm dyin' here!
Classic television
My sides are splitting reliving this!!!
Entwife57 me too! Crying with tears rolling down my face! Way too funny. Can you imagine being his wife or kids? I would laugh all day long!
HEY LOOK I'm DYIN' HERE!!! LOL
Robin's outfit cleared my eyes up! Best Tonight show EVER!
I remember seeing that when it aired. It just makes me dad that we will never see Robin and Billy performe together again. :(
Robin, I dont know if you can ever hear this but, we all loved you.
So funny! What a good time I had seeing this again!
Robin Williams undoubtedly had mountain of talent. Sad he is no longer amongst us
What is your first language?

Billy is the only person who can keep up with Robin lol.
Except maybe Craig Ferguson.
Then you haven’t seen Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams on the Tonight Show with Carson.
This had me laughing so hysterically I began crying with the thought Robin is no longer with us.
It's cool to imagine them all young and just starting out.
I can't imagine any comedian in the intense genius improvisational presence of Robin Williams, just overshadowing.
R.I.P Robin Williams (1951 - 2014)!
Absolutely laughed out loud several times!😂 no other contemporary comedians do that for me anymore… miss Robin and cherish Billy. They don’t make comedy like that anymore.
That suit. . . Robin was a living fashion statement.
How many kalaiedescopes did you kill to make that outfit?
Or a fashion question ... :)
Issey Miyake 1997 collection
He must have had Zebras who had Kaleidoscopes syndrome while he had them done to make the suit.
The chemistry scary and great. Amazing.
I miss and love Robin Williams

Seth Meyers is good, otherwise, I agree. I can't stand the constant interruptions, either because of the ego or the script of the interviewer.
watch Graham Norton, he lets the guest tell their stories
To know, and be friends, with both, Robin and Billy ... who could ask for anything more!
That suit is magnificent.
I could watch 40 hours straight of this...
Robin Williams wow, I still miss him. No other talent as energetic.

When the power outage happened and Robin made that joke about the Mothership calling, I was waiting for Billy to go, "Ork calling Mork, come in Mork..."
And they played part of the intro for Star Trek also, ha ha.
Comedy duo guys. Look how Billy set up with a single bow of his hand and Robin do the punch line with his body.
I miss Robin Williams
