I was thinking, really an emergency call for makeup air? Lol. It was the exhaust instead. We get that as well where I'm at... Lol! That compressor start rig is pretty cool... 👍🏽
Made my own hard start kit using a 450v capacitor, a 15A tube fuse and a couple toggle switches. Put it in a tackle box. Clipped in gator clips for the contacts and a 120 3 prong for the outlet. I'm confident there are DIY guides for this online. Good video guru.
I have a new job in HVACR Maintenance at a large health care facility and I cant tell you how many out-of-whack fan motor mounting plates/platforms I have found in the past 4 months. Its as if decades of maintenace workers did their best to get the mounts all out of level and crooked, you can see the angle of the motor sheave compared to the squirrel cage sheave and they are noticeable off. A simple 9 or 10" torpedo level is all you need to get most mounts back within decent specs, and some guys need a lesson on not tightening belts too much, all it does is pull the shaft of the fan motor to one side and wears out the bearings not to mention the sheave and belt damage thats done. Thanks for a good video, Dave.
Seems like all you tubers have everything they need on the roof. It's a perfect setup. Water, outlets, fuses, filters and now an exact match belt. All the roofs I get on have nothing on the roof just garbage laying around every where.
Super Jealous that you have an older Chevy van G Series aka GMC Vandura seeing that older GM Dash reminds me of my grandmothers old GMC that she had. Thanks for the great videos. What engine does your van have? just curious
Always carry 2 a link belts and 2 b link Browning red or black..pricey but can save you bacon in middle of night..carry 2 40s of each..can shrink em or lenghten as needed.. as yiu say buy 2 leave one..
That compressor gave the sound of 💀 for a minute. Looks like that motor pulley and exhaust shaft are not aligned properly that could be the reason why the belt gets worned out and the pulley your welcome Dave🙃🤔😄. Who makes that 3 in 1 cord?
Ray Tinsman It's not always the compressor's fault. The OL inside those things is designed for a fairly broad power range and the PTC "solid state relay" tends to have a bit too much leakage current to the start winding causing it to stay hot. I only use the 3in1s in an emergency and only as a temporary solution. The other drawback to those is the recycle time. The PTC has to cool down for a good 5 minutes or you will sit there tripping the OL constantly, vs magnetic starters that let you pretty much restart instantly. This is especially a problem in warmer shops/climates because if the unit makes temp, a customer opens the merchandiser and the tstat sees that rise and calls for cooling, it will sit and cook. They do make a good source of start caps though. My refrigeration supplier wants less for a 3in1 than a bare cap. XD
sivalley its not the winding or ol problems, the bearings tend to lock up more on the embracos, ( my experience) somtimes they break free just like in this case, but after a while same problem occurs.
3-in one are the ticket helped me out on a jam but you are the Man!! Diamond Dave 👍🏻
Thanks for video Dave, I watched while mowin down lunch, now I’m recharged and off to pm a fridge... 😎

Good fix, quick charge and put your caps on remember .. Have good weekend Dave
Keep up the great videos! Nice work
Awesome job Dave 👍👍
Good calls Dave! I hate “Daylight Wasting Time” lol
ComfortPlus Heating and Cooling me too. 👍
I thought I was the only guy that had a bump box. Good stuff
Dave just keep a box of that "Make a Belt" on your van. I used to service a large hotel chain and thats what I got down with.
Worst part about fixing exhaust fans, I always want french fries afterwards.
Good find their Dave.

Awesome tip.
Can you make a video on how to hook up a 3and 1 to those small refrigeration compressors

Lucky freaking guy you even have to get off the roof
Where can I get that start cord thing? Never heard of it before it’s cool like you dude.

you are a workoholic cal man
I was watching that part at 6:26 ! Creepy!
An easy one after an easy one...
Did you go to school for refrigeration, or just learned on the job?
do you carry one of those universal belts that you can make your own size on the job ? they have gotten me out of jam a few times
kingofthecrease30 I don’t but I should get one. 👍

Where I can find a start cord?

think it was just camera angle, pulley looked worn even on both sides, so lack of maint. and worn from slippage
Do you keep the klixon in circuit when you use the 3 in 1 to provide a thermal overload?
mainj54 no. The 3 n 1 has overload and relay built in
I know it has a current overload but you loose the thermal overload compressor protection
I would love to send you one.
How much
It seems after I install a 3in1 the compressor fails anyway a short time later, like it on its way out. I always warn customer its a possibility.
You got that right, especially on that embraco type

I attended a webinar through RSES for Embraco , they specifically said NOT to use 3-in-1's only their compressors, onyl OEM start components.

A lot of the 404A units don’t take those 3 in 1s too well, but the 134a’s 1/2 horse compressors it doesn’t seem to effect them too badly.
Trying to make things fancy for such a poop leer unit.
You old school.
Don't really like the 3 n 1 but it sure worked!
Fyi - to get the iphones to focus on a particular location , just tap on the screen at the location u want it to focus on it will focus then. 😎🎄
Good vid.
