Before I fixed in my opinion the worst Elite 4 in the series, and funny enough it also holds the worst Champion in the Series. Diantha, a champion who got told by the bad Guy that she would grow old and ugly. Then has one of the worst teams in Champion history, Geeta is a close second but Diantha her team is just bad. Anyway, so today I am going to "fix" her team, here is how it went.
Hope you enjoy!

I’m confused by the title, this isn’t Geeta or Trace?
Different regard from this video but Geeta and Trace are present in the story, while Diantha only has two scenes worth of nothing, and well, their game have different purposes.
Trace is from a game that is made on purpose to be easy to introduce newbies, and Geeta is from a game with multiple routes where it isn't the final fight, and there's not supposed to be an actual champion
@@thewisthersgames Yeah Geeta as a character is just better than Diantha (game version, of course D is done better in her anime appearances while Geeta has yet to make her debut there) even though it's fun to roast her team set up. But honestly even that specific issue is something not many would've really noticed or at least complained about to this level without someone on the internet pointing it out to them at first and reaching meme status. And yeah purpose of their battles are different as you said, with Geeta being more the Lance to Nemona's Gary while Diantha is just... It for her game.
For my personal standards, I can't hate on either too much cause i think both are hot and I'd like to hold their hands lol.
Edit; oh yeah and Trace uh... Tbh I don't think ppl actually even hate him, it's just roasting him became a mandatory element for mentioning the character on the internet lol. That and I guess some bias against having this goober being a Gary stand in kinda sorta while the actual Gary of Let's Go isn't your rival cause timelines and shit
@@thewisthersgames I really wish Diantha stepped in to help you battle Team Flare. Maybe then she wouldn't be as forgotten or laughed at.
I want her to be the Cynthia of the modern era. Enough of the Cynthia shoehorns into the games and anime, give Champions like Diantha and Alder some love.
Geeta recently switched Glimmora to lead and Kingambit at the back, so no, not even close,
Geeta’s worst crime was having a viable pokemon team arranged the worst way possible. Literally arrange her team differently and give her pokemon a bit more levels and she would be perfectly decent.
I think her actual theming is movies: Hawlucha=Sports
Tyrantrum and Aurorus= just Jurrasic Park (summer block buster I guess)
Gourgeist= Horror
Goodra=Kids movie (reminds me of goofy/gentle dragon mascots like Pete's Dragon and Never Ending Story)
Gardevoir= Oscars bait (something like Titanic for example), or maybe a Disney Princess
That... actually makes perfect sense.
I think Hawlucha's a bit more on the "Action" side of things, given it's about fighting.
@@RoseSupreme Perhaps, I chose sports specifically because it's a luchador wrestler, which is technically a type of sport. Unfortunately Nacho Libre is the only wrestling movie that comes to mind, although there have been several wrestlers turned actors. Not to mention that wrestling is kinda one big show as is.
Maybe I should shift the concept even broader to "entertainment", that way Tyrantrum and Aurorus would be those dino documentaries, and Goodra would be cartoons (heck, it's probably unintentional, but it does have slime like Nickelodeon).
Another theme that I saw for her theme was related to fantasy and fairy tales.
Hawlucha = hero from a foreign land
Tyrantrum = the ancient evil, once again wanting to conquer what they see as their domain
Gourgeist = a reference to the pumpkin coach in Disney's _Cinderella_
Goodra = the dragon that guards the princess
Gardevoir = the princess
There are flaws with this, but I like the overall concept. Goodra is considered to be a friendly pokémon, so if the intention was for Diantha's to represent a dragon working with or under the Big Bad, then the analogy falls flat. If she's meant to *benevolent* instead (e.g. Falcor from _The NeverEnding Story;_ Uriah from _Space Harrier;_ Haku from _Spirited Away;_ etc.), then there's no issue. Likewise, having Goodra *and* Aurorus is superfluous in terms of theming, as the latter is usually quiet and kindly as well-though that wasn't established until _UltraMoon_ years later-and has that whole Beauty Equals Goodness trope that's into fairy tales.
Really, the explanation most likely is because Game Freak wanted the Champion to have a pseudo-legendary and fossil pokémon on her team, and having *two* of them (i.e. Tyrantrum and Aurorus) was way too good of an opportunity to pass up, weaknesses be damned.
So...
Gardevoir
Goodra
Ferrothorn
Vaporeon
Gengar
Krookodile
A most fascinating roster, though some choices don't feel very "Diantha" to me. I do agree though that they have better movesets with better coverage and fitting items to make them more tougher/annoying to deal with. Giving her an Eeveelution is a neat idea. I'd definitely use like 3 or 4 of the Pokémon you suggested if I ever try coming up with my own.
And cheers for the shoutout!
I quickly threw together my own ideal team, which I think I could've done better with more unique choices, but I just swapped out Gengar and Krookodile for Talonflame and Aegislash.
I know Aegislash is Wikstrom's ace and I know both Pokémon I chose were like go-to competitive ones, but I just felt they seemed cool to have on her team. Whether I keep or replace them on a V2 of the team remains to be seen - I did my best to give her Pokemon from her region, but it is hard since there were barely any new Pokémon native to Kalos.
I personally would have learned more into the royalty/nobility theme with a team of:
Mega Gardevoir & Goodra staying
Escavalier is a jousting knight
Roserade as if it were a masquerade ball
Lapras because it's Lapras
Furfrou because of its while gimmick
I would understand that Furfrou is an outlier here in terms of usefulness but he's got some tricks up his fur coat.
Hey, not a bad team idea there.
It's a bit like Cynthia's in the sense they both have a Grass-type and Water-type and no Fire-type. If you were to swap out Furfrou, what would your pick be?
you gave her 4 randos with no theme and no one fits her, except maybe from vaporeon
yeah that was definitionally an over sight on my part, I was more focused on making her team better/stronger that I forgot about how champions have some sort of theme to their teams
Geeta is looking a little different here.
2:25 "but fuck themes" KEKW
What are you talking about? Geeta is right there.
I think the stick woman is better than Diantha
1. You gave her a good team!
2. If I could change just 1 pokemon in her team it would be Tyrantrum. Why does she have it when she already has Aurorus? I would give her a Gallade instead. Yes, she has 2 psychic and fighting types now but at least Gallade fits her theme better.
Yeah tyrantrum on her team is a weird one since she already has a rock type in aurouras and she has a dragon type in Goodra who is also a pseudo legendary Pokemon. Tyrantrum only adds to her more weaknesses
Yet another great, advertiser-friendly video by Mudkip!
If and when I ever get the ability to monetize this shit, the storm of yellow dollar signs is going to be fun
@@cowkip can you please do a video of giving champions best teams.
Oh, hey there, just saw your videos on improving Gen 2 & 3's Pokémon.
Lvl 74 Hawlucha - Acrobatics, Flying Press, X-Scissor, Iron Head w Unburden ability and Papaya Berry
Lvl 74 Milotic (Female) - Scald, Ice Beam, Recover, Light Screen w Cute Charm and Leftovers
Lvl 75 Aggron - Head Smash, Heavy Slam, Return, Ice Punch w Rock Head and Assualt Vest
Lvl 75 Roserade - Sleep Powder / Giga Drain, Energy Ball / Leaf Storm, Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball w Poison Point and Wide Lens
Lvl 76 Goodra - Dragon Pulse, Thunderbolt / Sludge Bomb, Muddy Water / Flamethrower, Ice Beam w Gooey and a Dragon Claw
Lvl 77 (Mega) Gardevoir - Hyper Voice, Psychic / Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt
The biggest problem besides her type matchups is the levels on her Pokemon, by this point you (especially if you have exp share turned on) your pokemon will be well into their high 60's low 70's so increasing Dianthas levels to the mid 70's will make sure that you have to somewhat grind to be equal to her or be underlevled when facing her. Another thing, but she fails to make use of mega gardevoirs pixilate ability, Hyper Voice coming off pixilate (162 > 142.5)(after STAB) from mega gardevoir would be stronger than an EQ from Mega Garchomp, very scary indeed.
Your team fits her theme better than mine lol
Not bad of a change
If you could change the team of a champion, could you try doing Alder? It’s not that he is a bad champion but it is more like that his team could be better than what we got.
Thanks for the suggestion, and yeah I will look into Alder. Half his team is bug type and most of his pokemon is weak to fire, so yeah some improvements can be made
If ya want something you can stretch out for 9 vids of content, try doing what Elite Trainer Kenway did and restructure the National Dex with only 112 Pokémon per dex (or whatever amount makes it equal across all 9 gens when Teal Mask drops.) I think it'd be a really fun series to make. Have a good day and nice video.
goodra gardevoir and hawlucha are honestly the ones to keep only tbh
Gourgiest can be pretty bulky if it's Super Sized and uses Will-O-Wisp and Leech Seed so I say keep it. Hawlucha's also a good lead so the only Pokemon Diantha needs to replace are the Fossils.
Yeah that's fair, kind of forgot gourgiest is a useful tank not going to lie
@@cowkip Here's how Diantha's team should be, including Items and Natures. Hawlucha's still here but no longer the lead because the new one can't afford to be hit by entry hazards.
Gardevoir Level 66
Nature: Timid
Item: Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace/Pixilate
Moves: Hyper Voice, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt
Goodra Level 65
Nature: Rash
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
Moves: Dragon Pulse, Fire Blast, Sludge Wave, Earthquake
Miltank Level 64
Nature: Adamant
Item: Lum Berry
Ability: Scrappy
Moves: Body Slam, Brick Break, Zen Headbutt, Milk Drink
Gourgiest Super Sized Level 64
Nature: Careful
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Insomnia
Moves: Seed Bomb, Shadow Sneak, Leech Seed, Will-O-Wisp
Hawlucha Level 64
Nature: Jolly
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Limber
Moves: Aerial Ace, Drain Punch, Poison Jab, X-Scissor
Carbink Level 63
Nature: Bold
Item: Light Clay
Ability: Sturdy
Moves: Magic Coat, Stealth Rock, Light Screen, Reflect
@@tomnorton4277 ohh I like it, Miltank is an interesting choice, and carbink while 4 times weak to steal can still get at least one screen or set up rocks before it dies. And your team does feel more diantha than mine does. That being said does carbink even get magic coat? I don't think it does but I could be wrong
@@cowkip I would have chosen Blissey instead of Miltank but she isn't in the Kalos Dex. Miltank is another all female Pokemon which is a nod to Diantha's femininity. Plus, her Physical stats are much stronger than Blissey's.
And Carbink can learn Magic Coat in some games. I'm not sure if it X and Y are among those games but they should be.
i think you forgot about geeta (shes the worst)
Nooo! It's JAI-roh, not GAI-roh
Wait till you hear how I pronounce Mismagius.
@@cowkip I'm guessing something like Miss-magg-e-us 😭
@@Chris_Elric wait what? I was told it was that and I pronounce it wrong. I say mis-mage-e-us
@@cowkip oh I see, I don't include the "e" after "mage", but yeah, its actually miss-mage-us, cause a mage is a magician, like Mismagius
Cynthia never was difucult to me. Just anoying
Same.
For me though, annoying in the sense she is freakin' *EVERYWHERE* in the series whereas most other Champions never get to leave their regions to explore other regions and challenge the players there.
fym kalos added the best pokemon ever, theres so many creature base & elemental ones its just that fucking pokemon company DOESNT give them chances nor upgrade them i swear they hate kalos
Well to me, they are mostly under whelming or at worst forgettable. But don't you worry, when the x and y remakes happen they won't get a buff charizard needs another mega evolution. So gen 6 pokemon are gonna have to take the short end of the stick
@@cowkip L opinion i would much rather have pokemon designs be like gen 6s than 7,8,9 i dont like too basic & i don't like too detailed its perfect for me just like how you think diantha is worse than geeta & trace, geeta literally has a good possible strat yet doesnt take advantage of it at all
@@glamrockchica8631 I will give you that, most gen 8 and 9 pokemon are not the best design wise and are also underwhelming my biggest problem with gen 6 is that there were only 88 new pokemon
meh Geeta is still a way way worse champion, you chose the wrong one
Not to be mean but what is wrong with your voice
Its a disability called being born and raised in the South of the United States of America lol. And no offense taken, my voice is just kinda weird
geeta is worse
Fair enough, Personally I think Diantha's team is worst but Geeta also sucks. But hey at least Geeta appeared in her game, Diantha barely was even in kalos
