We have a 2020 F350 long bed LXT 4x4 10 speed trans diesel getting 20 mpg with no load and 14 mpg with our Northern lite, in bed camper at 11800 lbs total wet weight fuel, water etc. Gear ratio is key to better milage. If you don’t need the low ratio for towing you will get better mileage with a 3.31. Our F350 is a rocket ship to has all the power we need and we also pull a goose neck 34 foot camper trailer from time to time. For boondocking we like the Northern lite in bed camper.

FYI: Most of that is 2020 changes.
One nice change for 2021 is the camera that looks into the bed can be used while moving. It does turn off when you stop, but hit the camera button while driving down freeway and you can see in the bed.
I hear you on color gamble. I went Carbonized Grey, was planning on Magnetic until the stopped it for 2021. No regrets, great color!

I have a 16 F-150 with that trailer backup assist and in my experience I can back a trailer better. I couldn’t get my trailer backed into my dad’s driveway with it, but I was when I shut it off and did it myself. It wouldn’t let me turn the wheels sharp enough. It is nice though for straight line backing.

Surprised to see what your fuel mileage is like. Worst I’ve seen has been 17.2, that’s short runs around town here. Took about a 300 mile trip into the mountains to work her some and managed 20.5. That was running in economy mode, no load and with 50 cetane fuel but wouldn’t think it could make that much difference. Just over 1,000 miles now so I’m not close to broke in either. Love the color, looks amazing on a sunny day!

I just ordered a 2021 F-550 XLT chassis cab. Got the anti matter blue like, you. A beautiful blue color, looks black from afar but up close is a dark blue. I'm adding an aluminum dump body. It will be a very sharp looking truck for my business. I'm trading in a 2009 F-550 with a steel dump. Got more from the trade than I expected. Decent used work trucks are hard to find. Expecting delivery about March 10th. My son got his new F-350 Lariat ("21) back in December. He has a Boss V-plow for it and is amazed at the torque the 21 has over his old 2016. He loves the 10 speed transmission. He gets better mpg than the old one. His comment to me was ,"Dad, don't hesitate to order a new one, you'll love it".
BTW, I'm not a green tractor guy. Been using New Hollands and Ford tractors for more than 40 years . Thanks for your vids. I like to see them.

I have a 2019 F350 CCLWB Platinum. 2 best features are the 48 gallon fuel tank (fantastic when the DTE is a 1,000+ miles) and the optional trailer TPS & trailer rear camera system. I tow over 20,000 miles a year and it's great to know when a trailer tire goes down and you can get to a safe spot. Sometimes when they blow you sustain major damage on your trailer.

What kind of phone bracket is that? I’ve been using a cup-phone from weather tech, but it eats up a cup space in the console. As for the console safe, I’ve had one on the last 6 trucks I’ve owned. They are made by (and for Ford if yours came with it) Console Vault. They are very easy to install, probably 20 minutes. What I’m saying is - if your truck wasn’t ordered with it (as you did), that is easily fixed (and slightly cheaper) via a visit to that company’s web-site.

The pro backup assist only works on bumper pulls but is nice for when you’re having to backup a trailer long way and need to keep it straight. It will automatically keep correcting the trailer as you backup. It’s more helpful on shorter trailers where they like to jackknife easier. If you have a trailer you pull all the time it’s worth the 10 minutes it takes to set up.

Any chance you could answer the following question.? Can you tell me how many inches of squat you measure with 2,000 lbs of load or pin weight on the 5thwheel or goose neck hitch? I have a 250 ordered but I'm gonna be tight on maxing my payload so I should change the order to a 350. The problem is, I really need the truck to squat 2-3 inches when I hook up my 5th wheel to get the trailer closer to level. I really don't want to pull any higher in the nose than absolutely necessary. My old truck was a 2004 Ram 2500 and it sat 56 inches to the top of the tailgate empty and 54 inches to the top of the gate when loaded. According to all the data, I was way over my trucks payload but it pulled and rode just fine. Having said that, the F350 you have sits at 58 inches to the top of the gate empty which is already 2 inches higher than my old Dodge. I believe the F250 I ordered will have a similar or slightly shorter measurement to the top of the gate and being a 250 would expect about 3 inches of squat according to videos I have found dropping me closer to the 55 inch mark loaded. I have not however seen any videos confirming the squat under this kind of load for the 350. If you could answer this question, I would be able to finally make an educated decision that I won't hopefully regret. Thank you

I’ve had my 2021 F-450 about 8 weeks now and love it. I to had to gamble on the Antimatter blue. I’m not crazy about it, it’s too dark for my taste, but the wife loves it so it’s no big deal. 2 things on the 2021. I ordered the Lariat and the LED’s are a $1180 option but you also have to upgrade to the Lariat Ultimate package to option them in. Also they discontinued the heated wipers for 2021. Now they’re just rain sensing without the heating element to them. I didn’t get the adaptive steering and now I wonder if I should have. The console safe was a must have for me also.

No major hills just modest rolling terrain. The thing was pricey but we spend about 6 months a year rv-ing and the silly extras are actually quite nice (e.g. message seats???). Haven't driven in "Eco" mode enough to know if that actually makes a difference.
