  • Ink Master artists are randomly paired with canvases: some are easygoing, others are not. These artists couldn’t reach an agreement with their canvas about the tattoo they were about to get, leaving them in a tough spot.

Exactly, and it's not like they're going on blind. When they agree to be a canvas the challenge is given to them beforehand, that way if its a technical challenges to do a portrait for instance they have time to choose said portrait. It's super unfair to go in thinking they can dictate a free tattoo that could cost somebody the competition.

Natalie saw how anxious he was and used that as a tool to bully him. It was sad. We witnessed him being backed into a corner. A tattoo artist isn’t there to baby or comfort their client. They work with them and will aim to give the client what they want (within their skill set). In this competition they expected him to cater to her. HOWEVER, being emotionally abused wouldn’t fly in a real shop. Any artist would stick their foot where the sun don’t shine before they stand to be disrespected.

After watching a good bit of this show I can say for sure that the best possible way, as a canvas, to leave with a great tattoo is to come in with multiple ideas of very simple designs that could work with many different styles. For example, come in knowing an animal you would want tattooed, a monument, a historical figure, a symbol, a planet, a flower, a quote etc... and then make it as simple as possible and put it in a location that is easy to tattoo (if you are able to choose location). At this point in time anyone wanting to be a canvas on the show should do their homework and watch a few seasons so they get an idea of challenges to expect and can see how complicated tattoos on fussy canvases turn out. You are getting a free tattoo on a TV competition. It is not like you walked into their shop, threw down 2 grand and can get exactly what you want in the style you like. If that is what you want, then find a good artist and pay up.

But tbh his design was on point! I understand she was not feeling comfortable, but like girl - u signed to get a free tattoo, u didn't like but it's not like u were paying for that or giving anything except your body. If you're going to nitpick designs just go to the artist you like and pay for that like a normal human being and not sign up for a competition tattoo. In addition to that, I think that his behaviour was off because he was stressed as hell and scared, maybe even disappointed in himself and his previous design. He wanted redemption and a possibility to prove himself once again in being an artist but this opportunity was destroyed before he even started. As a tattoo artist myself, I would also be sad and angry and hurt that I lost this kind of chance, so I don't think it's okay to shame him for his stern attitude. Not a problem that she refused but also not a problem that he was feeling human emotions.

@@xxTheHinata8xx they didn't tell her that the tattoo artist was the one that messed up her last tattoo , she didn't sign up for that, and throughout the talking process he just kept doing blank stares. @@someonefartedwhilereadingt9917 Absolutely this. Having your body violated by terrible art - no matter whether or not it's free - is a traumatizing experience, and springing that trauma on her again in a situation where she's already nervous is honestly cruel. I feel bad for him. It is one thing to judge the art. She was just mean for justifiable reasons and his reaction was not surprising to me. It is one thing to screw up but not to get any sort of way to say sorry for it sucks even more so if they hate you as a person. It is a terrible feeling, probably, and this is coming from someone that does not get that level of hate from people.

But she obviously was uncomfortable with the situation regardless so her wanting to leave is totally justifiable regardless of "Its a 1000$ for free". And tbh him giving that kinda comment woulda made me not want him to tattoo me either.. she was totally on point when she said "Thats not the point".
