    That was an awesome geology lesson, and some nice reef gold nuggets! You are very near or on top of the source I think, but hey, I've only just begun the hobby at 68 for the fresh air, exercise and Nature. You explain and teach wonderfully, and we gain incredible knowledge from your source. You make your pop proud Jeff. Hell, you make me proud just to see you carry on the hard working adventure in and out of the mine. Thank you Jeff for sharing with us all. It's more than just entertainment, it's heart and soul.

      We take along a 36-inch roll of 2x4-inch hardware cloth (wire fencing). Measure the perimeter of your working area, cut off a length to fit 60-75% of that and frame it into place.. Hang everything on it. Works almost as well in the river, as long as you remember that it has to stand up to and hold things against two force vectors, gravity and current instead of just gravity. In water, always place it downstream so the current is pushing tools against it rather than trying to pull them off. Save your lengths, you will reuse them often.

    Hiya Jeff (and Hiya to the Mrs. too)! Appreciate hearing your 'natural voice' on these field lectures; you've got a good speaking voice.
    Question, do you use a Jewelers Loupe much in the field explorations? If so, what magnification(s) do you like? Maybe that is a novice's tool used until he learns what he's looking at?
    I would love it if you could make a video spot/series of you examining various samples at your cabin table with a jeweler's loupe and taking (micro?)photographs of what you see to share and explain to us so we can learn to 'see' what you see with all your geologist's experience. This request from someone who wants to learn what a true prospector 'sees' when he examines a rock in his hand....

  • @oddball746
    @oddball746 2 года назад +1

    Jeff, You should make a model of a fissure and how it works. When you talked about the fracture and cooling with crystalizing, many people think the fissure is filled like a fire hose and slows down and solidifies. It's more like the effect you get inside an exhaust pipe build up. When minerals drop out at like 1,200F or 900F, the water wont. That's what keeps going and pops out of the ground. They're still open when they stop and after many many flows can get clogged up solid over time, not all at once.
    You covered all this but to someone thinking it flows like a hose full of water, it don't make sense.
    I just cleared it up with my kid.

    I always appreciate the Geology behind the search for Gold. It is also good to see the process of hard rock mining as well and how labor intensive it is too. But the best thing is watching the end where the purpose of all this hard work is revealed. Hee Haw!! Great video coverage too.

    Thanks for the geology lesson Jeff. Planning a trip to the desert to try out my new minelab equinox 800. Not the best but the best I could afford. Now I have some idea of what to look for so I may just find something yet. Those gold specimens are gorgeous! Thanks again for the lesson and the detector tips.

    Jeff, what a great video! I like the information, but, I really enjoy the "down to earth" information you give - without too much "show related yelling" into the camera. SUPER!
