I was really interested in getting the Grey Fabric Kova, but as a commenter suggested I went and read a reddit forum about Albany Park furniture and I was so disappointed. Now I'm scared to risk them. Mainly they complain about he Feathers coming poking out of the fabric, and also the sofa connections easily breaking from people leaning to much on the arms.
It’s been about 10 months since getting the Kova sectional. It’s beautiful & large & the cushions are wonderfully deep. It LOOKS like you could lounge on this sofa for hours. But you won’t want to, trust me. Feathers poke through daily, the fabric pills worse than I’ve ever had to deal with, and you can feel the hard frame where the cushions meet. The arm rest was wobbly on day 1 and I don’t see it making another 10 months. I chose the light gray “performance” fabric but I can’t see what’s good about that when it began pilling immediately. The cushions look like they’re years old, instead of months. At this price point that shouldn’t be happening. Oh, and my living room looks like a chicken coop. It’s a gorgeous sofa but that’s all it is. Very disappointed that I spent so much on what was supposed to be my first “good sofa”.

I know it’s been a while since your original post, but I just got my Kova about 6 months ago (same green she has) and although beautiful, it is not comfortable at all. I wanted a bit sofa because I wanted to be able to sleep on it (I often fall asleep on sofas when watching tv) and wanted to use it as a bed for guests, but I would definitely not want my guests to sleep on it. If I accidentally fall asleep on it, I wake up part way through the night with a terrible backache. It was so expensive and I’m very disappointed as well.
I love how expiring your ideas are. I love cozy and happy homes yours is certainly that. It is refreshing to hear someone who loves style and comfort as opposed to “staged” interior that looks like a place for show not for living. You have a beautiful home and your couch colour is stunning and looks so cozy.

I absolutely love this. We have almost identical taste. I love adding colour through Persian rugs in a neutral kitchen, warm oak and walnut woods throughout, I 100% agree with the cushion thing. I’ve got some lovely neutral cushions - one Persian rug cushion that I love- but the colour comes from the art and floor rugs and books on the built ins. Books, woods, rugs, tasteful art, warm curtains, pottery, flowers, they all add such beauty and warmth but having a neutral or blank canvas allows all of that to shine.

Great tips on introducing colour into a home. I love colour and have it as a feature in my wall art, lounge rug, lamps and couch. The only tip l would modify is painting timber furniture, specifically vintage / antique pieces, as it is the natural wood that is the hero. Painting Ikea or ply wood, MDF etc, is a safer strategy.

I love that the company is black owned well, partially. I love supporting BOBs. Do you find that the cushions move a lot since they don't appear to be attached. I have kids and dogs and worry about them ending up on the floor covered in fur regularly. Is this a problem for you?

How has your couch held up?? Been very interested in getting the kova but I saw a super negative thread on Reddit about the kova that scared me off of it! (Said feathers come out, people can feel frame through cushions, cheaply made, etc)
Great tips! Seasonal fresh flowers are my favorite! They can be expensive but if you buy bunches of one type of flower they can be much cheaper. Be sure to trim an inch or two off of the ends with a sharp knife when you put them in water. And if you change the water every day most flowers will last at least a week. Also, I agree about the throw pillows. Having multiples takes up so much storage space. I have been thinking that it might be nice to get throw pillow covers in a few solid colors to change out seasonally.

I love colors and I also love neutrals. Loved and used neutrals long before it became fashionable- 80's, 90's until today. I've learned to use colors in small ways , which I can easily exchange. I adore colors in other homes, not in my home. Still, looking forward to the new trends. Might use them in these small ways I've always preferred.

I was really interested in getting the Grey Fabric Kova, but as a commenter suggested I went and read a reddit forum about Albany Park furniture and I was so disappointed. Now I'm scared to risk them. Mainly they complain about he Feathers coming poking out of the fabric, and also the sofa connections easily breaking from people leaning to much on the arms.

Such a beautiful space and what a great sectional!
It’s been about 10 months since getting the Kova sectional. It’s beautiful & large & the cushions are wonderfully deep. It LOOKS like you could lounge on this sofa for hours. But you won’t want to, trust me. Feathers poke through daily, the fabric pills worse than I’ve ever had to deal with, and you can feel the hard frame where the cushions meet. The arm rest was wobbly on day 1 and I don’t see it making another 10 months. I chose the light gray “performance” fabric but I can’t see what’s good about that when it began pilling immediately. The cushions look like they’re years old, instead of months. At this price point that shouldn’t be happening. Oh, and my living room looks like a chicken coop. It’s a gorgeous sofa but that’s all it is. Very disappointed that I spent so much on what was supposed to be my first “good sofa”.
This also what I reading about in the Reddit forum on about this company. Im so disappointed in what I've read there! Gray is what I wanted too. I love the pattern and style of that fabric.

I know it’s been a while since your original post, but I just got my Kova about 6 months ago (same green she has) and although beautiful, it is not comfortable at all. I wanted a bit sofa because I wanted to be able to sleep on it (I often fall asleep on sofas when watching tv) and wanted to use it as a bed for guests, but I would definitely not want my guests to sleep on it. If I accidentally fall asleep on it, I wake up part way through the night with a terrible backache. It was so expensive and I’m very disappointed as well.
I love how expiring your ideas are. I love cozy and happy homes yours is certainly that. It is refreshing to hear someone who loves style and comfort as opposed to “staged” interior that looks like a place for show not for living. You have a beautiful home and your couch colour is stunning and looks so cozy.

I absolutely love this. We have almost identical taste. I love adding colour through Persian rugs in a neutral kitchen, warm oak and walnut woods throughout, I 100% agree with the cushion thing. I’ve got some lovely neutral cushions - one Persian rug cushion that I love- but the colour comes from the art and floor rugs and books on the built ins. Books, woods, rugs, tasteful art, warm curtains, pottery, flowers, they all add such beauty and warmth but having a neutral or blank canvas allows all of that to shine.

Great tips on introducing colour into a home. I love colour and have it as a feature in my wall art, lounge rug, lamps and couch.
The only tip l would modify is painting timber furniture, specifically vintage / antique pieces, as it is the natural wood that is the hero.
Painting Ikea or ply wood, MDF etc, is a safer strategy.

How has your couch held up?? Been very interested in getting the kova but I saw a super negative thread on Reddit about the kova that scared me off of it! (Said feathers come out, people can feel frame through cushions, cheaply made, etc)

Great tips! Seasonal fresh flowers are my favorite! They can be expensive but if you buy bunches of one type of flower they can be much cheaper. Be sure to trim an inch or two off of the ends with a sharp knife when you put them in water. And if you change the water every day most flowers will last at least a week.
Also, I agree about the throw pillows. Having multiples takes up so much storage space. I have been thinking that it might be nice to get throw pillow covers in a few solid colors to change out seasonally.

I just found your channel and I am very into your type of style 💫 I think this type of skandi mixed with mid-century is just... ahhh... beautiful. I am personally struggling to find art pieces to hang on my walls because I don't want to put up some generic art which is maybe trendy now but not in 2-3 years. I was wondering if you could share your tips how you create your gallery walls or just in general how you approach a blank white wall🙂 this would be very helpful. I purchased the Kova Sofa + Ottoman in Blue Velvet on September 6, 2021 for a move in December. On their website FAQ they advise that customers purchase their items in advance and contact them to schedule shipment. That's exactly what I did. I didn't want to risk not having furniture especially cause their items always seemed on back-order. I placed order and they ensured me that it would be shipped November 30. First week of December comes around and I still hadn't received tracking information so I reached out. This is when the lies begin.
- They end up shipping my order on Dec 19
- The order is delayed because of the holiday and weather
- Only 3 of 5 items are accounted for by the warehouse
- Partial Delivery is approved - meaning that I can get the 3 items and wait for the remaining 5
- Oh no! None of the items are actually accounted for.
- The warehouse mysteriously closes and my items now have to be redirected to another warehouse
- MOST RECENT UPDATE: the items haven't been received at the final mile destination so we can't schedule a delivery.
Every single week, Albany Park had a new story to tell me about the whereabouts of my items.
The order was placed on Sept 6, 2021 and it is now January 26. I have been in my home for almost 2 months with no seating. I've had to cancel holiday get togethers, friends visiting. I can't even sit in my living room and watch tv. Every time I ask them for a refund they beat around the bush and ask me for additional time to resolve the issue. When that time is up, there's another lie.

I love colors and I also love neutrals. Loved and used neutrals long before it became fashionable- 80's, 90's until today. I've learned to use colors in small ways , which I can easily exchange. I adore colors in other homes, not in my home. Still, looking forward to the new trends. Might use them in these small ways I've always preferred.

I just ordered the same couch from Albany Park! Did you stuff the cushions or were they fluffy enough when you received them?
I found them full enough for us. I could see after a few years of use possibly needing some more fill, but with the zipper openings it would be easy to add
