How to install BUMPERETTES on a Chevy/GMC Truck | 1980 Squarebody Bumper Guards [Wrench At Home]

- In this video I'm going to be mounting #Bumperettes to the front bumper of my 1980 GMC Sierra #Squarebody truck! A while ago I managed to snag a brand new set of bumperettes, or bumper guards if you will, for my truck on eBay. These are pretty rare, and are labeled as what you call "New Old Stock", which means they are old but have never been sold before and are still untouched in their original packaging. It really amazes me that these new parts have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for over 40 years before they were finally installed on a truck as they were intended to.
These bumperettes come with everything you'll need for installation, like hardware and the rubber gaskets which fit over the edges of the bumper guards to protect your chrome bumper. The #installation instructions are pretty basic but then again it's a fairly easy install. Removing (and reinstalling) the front bumper from the truck took the most time, but it does make fitting the bumper guards a lot easier.

That was a very good video. Thank you very much. I just bought a 1986 GMC high sierra 4x4 and I’m planning on doing some work to it. These bumper guards look like they be a good idea and they look really nice. God bless you and your family and friends. Duane.
I really appreciate that! Sounds like an awesome truck, good luck with your build and most of all don't forget to enjoy and drive it. Thanks for watching!
@@WrenchAtHome it will definitely be a driver. I’m not trying to make it into a show truck or anything like that. I’ve always said that if I could find a old truck that had no computer in it and good condition, I would probably keep it for the rest of my life because I’d be able to work on it myself. And that’s what I plan on doing. I hope you’re having a great day. I enjoy your channel. God bless you and your family. Duane.
Anyone know where I can buy the rubber gasket strips at 1:28?? All places that sell them new, they don't come with them.
Nice job! Looks badass!
Thanks Symen :D
Anyone know where to get the gaskets 1:28 only??
These are rad! I'm definitely gonna get some for the 92 shortbed c1500! I wonder if I could do some slight modifications and make a pair fit the bumper of my duramax and look decent!?
Thanks! You probably could, but if you’re trimming/cutting them to size, be sure to cover up the bare edges to prevent them from rusting. Good luck!
Great video, where did you find them. I'm looking for a set for my 87 Ford f150. I think it makes the truck. If you can let me know where you purchased them. Thank you
Thanks man! I got them off eBay, but they don't come up that often. I used the Saved Searches feature which notifies you by email if a new item that matches your search criteria is posted. Try something like "nos bumper guards ford f150" and then check if the results match the year of your truck. Sometimes they fit a range of years. Good luck with the search and thank you for watching!
@@WrenchAtHome yeah they look nice on your truck. I been looking for a while, I found a used set in decent shape. I'll try to polish them up, if that don't work I'll have them re chromed, there in the mail now. Thank you for getting back to me
cool video, but these are impossible to get .
Thank you! Yes, finding a good pair (for a good price) can be a pain, but it is definitely possible!
