lol you're absolutely right! I usually record my Broll clips for about 30 seconds but when i was recording this i found myself staring at the dial through my monitor so much that the clips ended up being double or triple the time 😂
All my watches I forget what time is it when I look at the watch. I am staring at the dial, polishing, the zaratsu polished indices. The SBGH295 is a stunning piece with the 62GS case. I live the sharp zaratsu finished edges
i managed to get probably the last retail available piece in Singapore.... some 1 year ago. if u want to get the green to appear , go under bright /natural yellow light .
Seiko is making some awesome stuff for sure and when i see watches and dials like this one it makes it easier for me to temporarily overlook their issues!
So awesome you made the connection between it and the aqua terra bc when i saw this after reviewing the aqua terra i was like "oh whoa this dial is like the aqua terra but better lol!
I agree, just the single micro adjustment on the clasp could cause problems. On a 7" wrist like mine you'll get a perfect Summer / Winter fit by removing three links, but other wrists may have problems.
I just bought one and must say seeing it in the metal for the first time I was blown away. Looks even better than in this video. I’m thrilled to be a proud owner of this limited edition.
I'm kicking myself because I had the chance to buy this one originally but I didn't go for it. By the time I realized I wanted it, everything was mostly sold out. Spectacular dial for sure I'm surprised by how well they executed each of the different elements of the dial. This could have easily been a flat and cheesy dial
Ah yeah I wish i got it a while back too! I'm just glad i got to experience this for a while because it really is unlike anything else that I've experienced previously, Yeah this could have easily been a mess of a dial but thankfully they managed to keep things in control!
I'd look around in the coming months. With the current global financial situation i wouldn't be surprised to see one listed for near retail. Nearly all hype watches are down bad right now. This is no expection.
loooooool its what Seiko deserve! They deserve love big time but man they can be irritating as well. My SSK GMT is running at +4-5 seconds a day and my Willard Ice diver' 6r35 is at 6 seconds a day and then out of no where my slim turtle's 6r35 was losing 20 seconds a day....I'll need to get it adjusted soon
Was able to get this one at 550 USD at an AD when it launched. I can say this is a omega aqua terra on a budget. The Dial is definitely one of it's kind and would pass as a GS.
Absolute banger of a watch. I agree this is like a Grand Seiko in terms of elegance. I got the blue Deep Lake and could not be more happier with this model despite being a more CASIO G-SHOCK GW-5000U or the MRG line kind of guy.
I luckily bought this at retail last year when my AD had couple of pieces left. If you want one now, never going to find one under $1500 even for a well used one. Such a stunning dial which has a great 3D depth and looks amazing on a leather strap. The case is true to the original Laurel design. Agree on the 19mm lug but it works overall with the 38mm case. You can squeeze in a 20mm strap without a problem.
Nice that you got one before the prices shot up! This one was bought by my friend for $1000 and honestly even at that price the dial is worth it! At current prices its definitely stretching it. Yeah squeezing in 20mm straps is possible for sure, ive had to do it on my Grand Seiko but it can get a bit irritating for me although its not the end of the world lol
I own this watch and it’s one of my favorites in my collection because of the dial (in the box with Cartier, Rolex, Tudor, Omega etc.) My only complaint is the clasp is absolutely terrible. It juts out like a bottle opener. I had to replace the clasp with a MilTat clasp custom installed by my watch guy so it is flush - no more “Bottle Opener” look!
Nice one. Speaking of Seiko, what do you think of slim turtle spb333j special? Would you trade your white slim turtle for it? Grey bezel and white birchesque dial, it's a stunner
Oh man i try not to think about the SPB333 much because of how incredible it is! On paper it is pretty much perfect since i love gray and unique dials so much. But in short I wouldnt trade in my white dial version for it bc the white dial fits exactly what i want from a tool-y seiko diver of its kind. That however doesnt stop me from thinking about the 333 tho lol!
The bracelet is typical Seiko i.e. not very good ;) I got a couple of leather straps in "blue jeans" and "sea green" which I like better. The saphire crystal would be better with more anti-reflection and a signed crown would have been nice too.
Can you comment on time accuracy? I have seen multiple complaints about the 6R35 movement being terrible out of the box and needing regulating from the get go. The alpinist is out of my budget right now but settling for a presage and just want to know what to expect.
@@rsilk2969 Now waiting for my Alpinist to come. The Presage Ginza scratched the itch for 3months but now I'm back and more excited than ever for it! My Presage Ginza is fast by a minute or so over a week, hoping the alpinist is similar! It's unfortunate the prices of these went so insane. I paid $3780 nzd. All part of the fun I guess.
Case finishing, bracelet, and movement are why this isn’t a Grand Seiko. A nice dial doesn’t make it a Grand Seiko. Those other elements are why GS costs more.
I owned one for a while but sold it because i never wore it. Wish these came in manual wind version , would make them alot less top heavy. I'd also like to see a jubilee for this model , I'm not a fan of this cheap oyster bracelet.
Yeah the bracelet is definitely the weakest link here, although for me it's mostly "just ok" lol. I'm surprised that strapcode hasnt made bracelets for this 1959 Alpinist collection! I wouldn't mind a beads of rice bracelet.
@@thewatchidiot yeah it's dissapointing imo. If they would've made a unique new bracelets , like with the slim turtle , i think it would've sold alot better. The oyster feels kinda miss matched with the watch
Seiko bracelets are horrid. The case finishing is at the level of a timex. The movement is only slightly better than seiko 5. That’s why it’s not a grand seiko. I find it tacky at worst and outdated styling at best.
This dial is the best i've ever seen on anything.
This is one of those dials you’ll stare at and forget you actually wanted to check the time. Absolutely gorgeous.
lol you're absolutely right! I usually record my Broll clips for about 30 seconds but when i was recording this i found myself staring at the dial through my monitor so much that the clips ended up being double or triple the time 😂
Just did the same 😂

Seiko is like my favorite brand... Just look at that beauty

Freaking gorgeous. An Aqua Terra for us plebs. Brilliant video. Cheers.

This is a grail watch for me. I hope to one day find one in good condition.
Pretty wild dial . Seiko does dials well.
Amen to that! Gotta love Seiko and their creativity with this one
Spectacular
Couldn´t agree more just a fantastic watch and I love mine.
Love Seiko's special dials. Little pieces of art on your wrist.

That’s a awesome seiko, up there with the best 👌🏻
The movement is "relatively accurate if you get a good one". Man, that's one of the great horological backhanded compliments!

This dial ia more mesmerizing than anything offered by omega
Bought this one on a whim. So glad I did.
and I'm sure your wallet is thankful you bought it earlier too lol!
You should also mention it's a 200m rated diver - I take it onto and into the ocean with no issues! Yup - that dial is bonkers good

best dial watch they've made in a long time and for an affordable price back at release
Yeah they did well on this one for sure! I hope they keep it up and dont raise the prices on this line too much!

Please do a review of SEIKO SPB 249 sir ❤😊

Seiko is becoming my favorite brand. But only the Prospex line.
Too bad you can’t get them at retail anymore. I love it
Very nice, but i prefer the Mystic Forest SPB289
I can’t find one to buy where can I find a legit dealer or reseller

Been trying to find this one for the last year at a fair price. I think I might give up.. :(
Nice video! Have you seen the SBP289? I think that dial is better than this one.

Since it's discontinued the price has been so ridiculous. at least 2x than retail
Because of the case, movement and bracellet 🤷♂️

Seiko makes the best dials in the world. They balance that with the worst accuracy in the world 😂😂😂😂😂
Its relatively accurate if you get a good one 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If anyone has one for a decent price, please reach oht
The bracelet taper, and 19mm size are unacceptable.
Great dial but a little too much for my taste, trying a little too hard.
I can see why it would be a bit too much for some folks for sure, its very much right on the line!
Sorry don’t share your love for this watch. I do like the seiko Prospex Alpinist line, but this dial looks like something it of Spider-Man
loooool when I was talking about the dial in the video i was so close to using spider web to describe it!
