    If your truly born again you don’t want to deliberately sin, your flesh will still crave sin but your spirit that is saved don’t want to sin.

      The Bible is full of scriptures that encourage living a Godly life and warns of the consequences for those that don't. If those that choose to live a life in opposition to God will be judged accordingly, how can once saved, always saved be accurate? What's the incentive for living a life based on scripture if everyone has the same outcome? Most people that habitually commit serious sins have accepted Christ. With that said, how could a Godly person's fate and a habitual sinners fate be the same? Anyone sincerely repenting, turning away from their bad deeds and asking for forgiveness can be forgiven. However, that has nothing to do with being saved. Matthew 24:13 is very clear. It says, "the one who has endured to the end will be saved".

      @@Rankings-Revealed Hi Matt! That's an excellent question. Anyone can be forgiven. Jehovah reads hearts and he knows when a person is sincerely repenting and truly desires to turn away from his or her sins. He even provides us with his Holy Spirit to assist us in doing his will. He knows that we're dust and will sin daily. The goal is not to repeatedly commit deliberate sins. Remember that King David was a murderer and an adulterer. However, Almighty God understands the true attitude and motive behind sins. Rather than have David condemned to death by human judges according to the Mosaic Law, Jehovah mercifully intervened, dealing with David and Bath-sheba himself.
      As long as we recognize our sinfulness, repent of our errors, earnestly beseech Jehovah for forgiveness, and ask him to create in us a pure heart, he hears and forgives. (Ps. 51:10) Never forget that Jehovah is as he described himself to Moses​-“a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness and truth, preserving loving-kindness for thousands, pardoning error and transgression and sin.” Jehovah has not changed.​-Ex. 34:6, 7. Remember that God is greater than our hearts. He loves us and is always looking for a reason to forgive us.

      @Matt Fisher.. Those that choose to live in opposition to Christ...maybe are not truly saved. True belivers want to honor God and follow his instructions...and repent when they stumble.

      @@diroberts4075 That's true. MOST people are interested in what others think of them. As Christians, though, what Jehovah thinks of us is much more important. After all, he is the greatest Person in the universe, and with him is “the source of life.”-Psalm 36:9.
      The apostle Peter explained that to have Jehovah’s approval, we need to have “holy acts of conduct and deeds of godly devotion.” (2 Peter 3:11.) Our “acts of conduct” are holy only if we live a clean life in every way. This includes the way we think, act, and worship God. Also, we need to have “deeds of godly devotion” motivated by deep love and respect for God. So it's not only our actions, but also our feelings about God that matter to him. Jehovah is the “examiner of the heart,” so he knows whether our actions are holy and whether we worship only him.

    I “fell away” when I was 18 due to severe depression and then turned to drugs cope. Well 8 years later I’m finally sober and free from it all, about 3 months into sobriety the fear of God hit me like a train and pretty much has put me on my knees for 4 months. I’m now going on 8 months sober and I’ll tell you what, it’s like God has said to me “don’t you dare ever leave me again”. Hebrews absolutely terrifies me now. I’m just gonna stay this time. Haha

      "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom", praise God He took you back. I was not born again but a similar story with drugs and depression and if God did not save me I would probably end my life, thank God He gave me purpose to life!!

      Just a heads up I’m over 13 months sober! And basically I learned once your His, your His. Only someone who is saved would even care about losing their salvation. Just let go, He has you. I wasted so many months worried I wasn’t saved anymore. Once your His, your His.

    Question: "Can a Christian lose salvation?"
    Answer: First, the term Christian must be defined. A “Christian” is not a person who has said a prayer or walked down an aisle or been raised in a Christian family. While each of these things can be a part of the Christian experience, they are not what makes a Christian. A Christian is a person who has fully trusted in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and therefore possesses the Holy Spirit (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9).
    So, with this definition in mind, can a Christian lose salvation? It’s a crucially important question. Perhaps the best way to answer it is to examine what the Bible says occurs at salvation and to study what losing salvation would entail:
    A Christian is a new creation. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). A Christian is not simply an “improved” version of a person; a Christian is an entirely new creature. He is “in Christ.” For a Christian to lose salvation, the new creation would have to be destroyed.
    A Christian is redeemed. “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:18-19). The word redeemed refers to a purchase being made, a price being paid. We were purchased at the cost of Christ’s death. For a Christian to lose salvation, God Himself would have to revoke His purchase of the individual for whom He paid with the precious blood of Christ.
    A Christian is justified. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). To justify is to declare righteous. All those who receive Jesus as Savior are “declared righteous” by God. For a Christian to lose salvation, God would have to go back on His Word and “un-declare” what He had previously declared. Those absolved of guilt would have to be tried again and found guilty. God would have to reverse the sentence handed down from the divine bench.
    A Christian is promised eternal life. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Eternal life is the promise of spending forever in heaven with God. God promises, “Believe and you will have eternal life.” For a Christian to lose salvation, eternal life would have to be redefined. The Christian is promised to live forever. Does eternal not mean “eternal”?
    A Christian is marked by God and sealed by the Spirit. “You also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14). At the moment of faith, the new Christian is marked and sealed with the Spirit, who was promised to act as a deposit to guarantee the heavenly inheritance. The end result is that God’s glory is praised. For a Christian to lose salvation, God would have to erase the mark, withdraw the Spirit, cancel the deposit, break His promise, revoke the guarantee, keep the inheritance, forego the praise, and lessen His glory.
    A Christian is guaranteed glorification. “Those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified” (Romans 8:30). According to Romans 5:1, justification is ours at the moment of faith. According to Romans 8:30, glorification comes with justification. All those whom God justifies are promised to be glorified. This promise will be fulfilled when Christians receive their perfect resurrection bodies in heaven. If a Christian can lose salvation, then Romans 8:30 is in error, because God could not guarantee glorification for all those whom He predestines, calls, and justifies.
    A Christian cannot lose salvation. Most, if not all, of what the Bible says happens to us when we receive Christ would be invalidated if salvation could be lost. Salvation is the gift of God, and God’s gifts are “irrevocable” (Romans 11:29). A Christian cannot be un-newly created. The redeemed cannot be unpurchased. Eternal life cannot be temporary. God cannot renege on His Word. Scripture says that God cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
    Two common objections to the belief that a Christian cannot lose salvation concern these experiential issues: 1) What about Christians who live in a sinful, unrepentant lifestyle? 2) What about Christians who reject the faith and deny Christ? The problem with these objections is the assumption that everyone who calls himself a “Christian” has actually been born again. The Bible declares that a true Christian will not live a state of continual, unrepentant sin (1 John 3:6). The Bible also says that anyone who departs the faith is demonstrating that he was never truly a Christian (1 John 2:19). He may have been religious, he may have put on a good show, but he was never born again by the power of God. “By their fruit you will recognize them” (Matthew 7:16). The redeemed of God belong “to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God” (Romans 7:4).
    Nothing can separate a child of God from the Father’s love (Romans 8:38-39). Nothing can remove a Christian from God’s hand (John 10:28-29). God guarantees eternal life and maintains the salvation He has given us. The Good Shepherd searches for the lost sheep, and, “when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home” (Luke 15:5-6). The lamb is found, and the Shepherd gladly bears the burden; our Lord takes full responsibility for bringing the lost one safely home.
    Jude 24-25 further emphasizes the goodness and faithfulness of our Savior: “To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

      Tyler Strombom: You did a masterful job of presenting half of the story. Now, why don't you present the other half and then harmonize the two halves so that there are no contradictions? You made a small attempt at that when you mentioned two common objections. Your response indicates that you instinctively know that OSAS cannot possibly be true. You recognize that true Christians cannot live a life of sin. So the way you get around this is to declare that all Christians that fall into a life of sin were never saved to begin with. Who made you God that you can pronounce such a judgement? You define a Christian this way: "A Christian is a person who has fully trusted in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and therefore possesses the Holy Spirit" Then you proclaim that those Christians were never saved when they deliberately keep on sinning. Seems to me the only justification for saying this is to say (contrary to scripture) that once you are saved, you no longer have free will and therefore you CANNOT live a life of sin after conversion.
      You have more homework to do. (hint: it is not hard to harmonize the scriptures if you truly will believe and accept them all as true)
      BTW- I have never seen a OSAS believer attempt to harmonize the scriptures. They all w/o fail try to explain away scriptures they do not agree with. You can start with this one:
      Hebrews 10:26-29 (NIV)
      26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
      How can that verse be true and all the scriptures you expounded also be true?

      The bible warns that some will depart from the faith in the latter days ( you can’t fall away/de[art unless you were a part of it to begin with). The Bible warns about Backsliding (you can’t back slide if you didn’t slide forward to begin with). Also, there is reference to people’s name being blot of the book of life (your name can’t be blot out unless it was written first). Don’t forget there are numerous verses that state the following people will not inherit the Kingdom of God- For instance. 1 Corinthians 6:9 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. If sin wasn’t a big deal then why would Jesus say this Matthew 18: 8“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into [b]hell fire. If you sin you are of the devil (1 John 8:44) when you ask God to change your life and you put in your own effort (James 4:7) then you are adopted into the family. God is Holy so you must be Holy, you need to enter the narrow gate and aim to be perfect as the Father is perfect; you will be sanctified and changed overtime and conformed to the image of Jesus. If you are born again you can still fall away ; Jude refers to it as being twice dead. Remember in revelation it states the devil makes war with those who have the testimony of Jesus Christ and keep the commandments of God. Now most people do one without the other; for instance, lukewarm Christians (Rev 3:16) have the testimony of Jesus but are living in intentional sin. Jews keep the commandments of God but do not have the testimony of Jesus. God requires both!     Salvation is putting your faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Repent means to turn away to be in agreement with God. Saved people do not rationalize their sins.

      Very well said, His true people don't rationalize sin. We call it out even in our own lives and ask God to help us rid ourselves of it. If we have the Spirit living within us, then sin should offend us as much as it does Him, and the Word says He hates sin.

    what saddens me when i read all these comments is the fact that when we as christians differ from interpretation of the holy scriptures we tend to lose respect for one another. We forget that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Let us, when we address one another, do it with respect unto each other. Many of us will call some pastor false or a doctrine false or the other way around, How do you know for sure that your interpretation is the correct one. It is best to accept that you do not need that any one teaches you except the holy spirit. Let us comment, rebuke, teach in love to one another instead of getting personal and insult someones christian denomination version. Do not get personal, it is not our job to save a person but the Lord's. Let us not tie a yoke around our own necks but let us worship God the almighty in spirit because it is a beautifull thing to do. If someone rejects your version of interpretation, thats fine because its that persons choice. You have done your part in teaching, exhorting to that person. We all know the devils plan is to seek kill and destroy and to decieve so why fall for it. We as brothers and sisters in Christ are all bonded together through his love.So let us treat one another with respect.

      Well said!!!!!!!! It hurts to give your opinion and someone attack you and say your going to hell because you don’t truly believe or arnt truly saved we will never 100% understand every scripture and that’s the way God intended it I think he knows that ALL of us will not fully grasp what it is truly meant to say and you can take one sentence and make it mean a thousand things so just because some people believe down to the core that they are correct in the end it’s not meant for them to know it all God will not punish us for taking a verse the wrong way we need to work together to figure out what we can and agree to disagree sometimes and move on the the next verse I do believe that if you pray enough God will eventually give you answers God knows our hearts and to me that’s what matters to him most our hearts what do they truly carry how do we treat others our neighbors our family our friends and most important strangers! Stop fighting it’s not worth it! God didn’t give us the holy word to fight and get mean with one another about I believe he wrote it as a personal message and that every believer can take it the way God sees fit for that particular time in ones life how do we not know that his messages arnt meant In Different ways for all of us? I can write I love you to my husband and my best friend and a stranger and my kids and mean it 4 different ways God is amazing so if I can take 3 words and make them mean something different for 4 difference people don’t think he can’t take a whole book and do the same for a billion!!!     I just want to warn anyone who wonder if you can lose your salvation, I personally had a vision while at work of me personally losing my salvation due to constant sin, the vision was clear enough to stop me in the middle of working. I don't do drugs nor drink. There is nothing more important or valuable than your personal relationship with the Lord. Don't let anyone fool you to thinking that constant sin is OK. There is nothing on this planet worth risking your relationship with Him. Please I'm begging you to stay focus and be obedient to the Lord and His will, don't be lukewarm🙏

      Wow it is so refreshing to hear somebody actually speak truth and what the Bible actually teaches. It’s becoming increasingly rare in these last days to see people taking a stand for the truth. It’s getting hard to find anybody on RUclips who teaches about endurance and remaining in Christ because everybody wants their ears tickled and just to hear that they are find no matter what they do. Along with being called by God, this is the reason I just started my RUclips channel to deal with these EXACT same issues that are so misunderstood in the church today. I just couldn’t hardly find any good teaching on it so I just thought well I guess I’ll just have to put out my own. God bless and hold fast to the Lord your God! 😀

      Oh and BTW I had a vision about that as well. I was stuck in constant unforgiveness and hatred over about a year period and I grew very hateful angry and bitter. God finally gave me a vision of him holding me over a cliff, and below there was a lake of fire. He said to me it’s your choice, do you want me to let go? There was a heavy weight to it and I knew there would be eternal consequences if I told him yes. And the crazy thing is I actually thought about saying yes because I was so hateful inside! But I ended up saying no and he pulled me back over the cliff and then said “then follow and obey me!”.

      The Lord has made it clear that those who are lukewarm Christians will be rejected. We all must understand what He means by this and make sure we submit ourselves to His will.

    "I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day". He saved me, not me myself, so if my salvation was something that could be lost that would be Him losing it not me, and we know he is perfect and cannot break his Word.

      @MyKail Lewis We are saved and sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13,4:30) Meaning not even God will break the seal, you are saved until you are redeemed on the day of redemption in heaven

    I used to want to go to heaven. I believed for over 30 years in the Trinity. After a fallout with my son I felt alone. I realized I loved my son more than anything. Once I put God number one in my life the depression I suffered from for 20 years started to dissipate. About a year and a half later while praying for my son to come to faith the miracle of being baptized in the Holy Spirit happened to me. I now know as this Pastor says I am sealed with knowing my destination. Grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

      Keep your faith in Jesus but just remember that the very Bible you embrace speaks negatively about 'faith alone' in James 2:24. That's the only place in Scripture you will find 'faith alone'. God bless.

      as a note.....it does not do justice to give isolated verses out of context
      Hebrews 10:26 was written to the Jews basically saying that after your have heard, you must at that point realize you cant go back to the yearly sacrifice of the lambs. After Christs death, , the veil was rent in pieces, So that symbolized the end of sacrifice.. The sin is basically "unbelief" in Christ. who is God incarnate, whose death on the Cross as the Lamb of God fully paid for your sin and mine.
      Similar in Hebrews 6:4-6. .+7&8 . . read the context first, going back through Chapters 4 & 5 as well. It gives reminder of those who were in 'disobedience', and ''to hear His voice and not harden your heart', about hearing the first principles . In ch 6 it continues to speak about those who come close, yet revert after spending a bit of time and wind up rejecting what they heard..........example of 4-6 when condensed: "Yeah I tried that for awhile, and it did nothing for me." and then they go back to their unbelief & sins. That is what makes in near impossible to actually repent. The words "enlightened," "tasted" shows a lack of depth. Please read Verse 7 & 8 that is the picture born out of Matthew 13: 5-8 about some seed grew for a bit , then under the sun, perished , or seed among the thorns that choked them. then the seed in fertile soil that grew and bore fruit. Pray the Holy Spirit of God reaches us all.

    There are so many scriptures wich speak so clear, that you can loose your salvation, that it is ridiculous to say otherwise. You must remove whole chapters from the New Testament to not see it! The problem is thst being born again brings us to nowhere, accept we are living a born again life

      TheFraBro it seems to me that what causes many to put Bible passages against each other stems mostly from 2 of the Solas i.e. Sola Scriptura & Sola Fide. I think mostly the latter. If one believes salvation is by faith alone and that salvation is guaranteed, they are forced to read Scripture through an either/or lens. So, if John 3:16 is true (and it is) then a verse like 'those who endure till the end will be saved' is ignored because once saved always saved lacks any category for needing to endure. Reformed theology just further confuses the matter. Correct theology concerning salvation is able to marry all the seemingly contradictory verses together. That can only be accomplished viewing all of Scripture through a both/and lens. Only the ancient churches before the Reformation are able to do that. So, verses that teach one cannot lose salvation are easily married to verses that say one can lose salvation. For the average Protestant mind, this is incongruent. Not so for the ancient churches. As we should know by now, the only thing the Solas has given us from is more and more private interpretation and division.

    Most Protestants believe that Christians will never lose their Salvation (OSAS - Once Saved Always Saved) based on Romans 4:8, "BLESSED is the one whose sin the Lord (Christ) will never account against them."... Furthermore, most Protestants say that the Elect given by the Father (God) to Christ Jesus will never ever lose their Salvation." (ref. John 6:37-39)...
    It seems to me those Elect given by the Father (God) to Christ Jesus to keep had lost their Gift of FREEWILL... for God will and must not FAIL... which means those Elects given by God to Christ Jesus, guarantees that they could not make any sin or if they did sin, those sins will not be accounted for them for Christ washed them with His blood until the end of their lives on Earth so that they could be SAVED... as if No FREEWILL for them in reality...
    But the Bible did not support this assumption... for St. Matthew said, "Anyone who PERSEVERES and ENDURES until the end will be SAVED." (ref. Matt. 24:13)... St. Paul wrote to Timothy before he was beheaded, "I run to the fullest, finish the race, and I have kept the FAITH." (ref. 2 Tim. 4:7)...
    Logically speaking, why will the Elects given by God to Christ need (HAD) to PERSEVERE, ENDURE, FINISH THE RACE, and KEEP THE FAITH... if God will not let them commit any SIN accountable to them until their last breath on earth to be SAVED, for God must/should not fail?... (as Dr. White claimed)
    The word "BLESSED" is an adjective that gives/indicates conditions on how to be BLESSED... How?... Christians who persevere and endure to the end are called BLESSED... those Peacemakers are called BLESSED... those who hunger and thirst and poor in spirits are BLESSED... those who have not seen but believe are BLESSED...etc... (The Beatitudes)
    In Conclusion, Protestants are entitled to their own Opinions and Beliefs... but they were definitely wrong in their interpretation of the Biblically TRUTH without compromise... Christians can lose their Salvation, but those who persevere and endure till the END will be SAVED."... Praise be to God in Christ... Amen.

      I'm thinking that your statement "Most Protestants believe that Christians will never lose their Salvation" may not be correct. I saw a recent video by an Anabaptist who, though I'm not AB, did a good job of showing a tree graph of denomination branches that embraced once saved always saved and it was a small number of branches conmpared to all the Protestant branches.
      Having said that, it's interesting to note that the Gospel Coalition, who I don't embrace, said that 33% of people believe they will go to heaven. That would make sense because , growing up Southern Baptist, we had a understanding that all the people around us were 'in a better place' meaning heaven. You've probably heard the same thing in your own circles. I think, no matter how we live, that could very well be a human default and, of course, a longing.

      You have just stated the opening of the Didache concerning life and death. The author admonishes his reader to chose life. Scripture says 'I have set before you life and death. Chose life'. Choosing life is not a one-time decision for Christ that gives us a free get out of hell card. It is a daily walk with Him picking up our crosses and following Him daily. If a Christian falls and sins, he needs to repent, get up, be re-united to God and keep striving to abide in Christ. We have a choice to make daily between life and death. God grant us grace to keep chosing life.

      How can a saved persons name be blotted out? Jesus says, John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Pretty simple huh?
      Can Jesus blot out a saved persons name? No, Why? He says he wont!
      Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
      Who is a (overcomer)? Who? 1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
      1John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? See it? Can you? A overcomer IS a saved person.
      You cannot even refute the Holy Spirit! Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, How long is the believer sealed for?
      Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
      Now on your actions, Salvation is NOT based on your actions. What actions did you have if you are saved? Either you accepted Jesus or not right? What works is that? NONE!
      Now on sins, Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
      Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

      Vincent without holiness no man shall see the Lord....the Israelists were saved from Egypt but did not enter the promised land due to their sin and turn away from God.....so you can not lose your salvation as it is a gift and not of our own doing but we risk not entering our promised land which is heaven if we keep sinning and have no repentance....I think ppl who follow once saved always saved are folks who just keep on sinning and don’t repent. But if we do repent Jesus accepts is with open arms after we sin. Paul has a thorn in his side that God simply says His grace is enough. So this topic is a slippery slope but be warned that we are told without holiness no man shall see the lord and we are told that many will come to God on the last day professing they knew God saying “Lord Lord” I pray none of us will be in that category in Jesus name. If anything trying to live a Holy life does nothing wrong. If once saved always saved is true then we have nothing to worry about, but if your wrong ooooo boy

    It is obvious from scripture that salvific grace cannot be taken away from you, and you cannot 'lose' it by mistake.
    However, it is also obvious from scripture that one can have salvific grace one day, and not the next. So what gives?
    The word "lose" suggests a passive thing that happens to a person. I don't like this.
    We do not LOSE salvation, but we can FORFEIT salvation. God forbid that any Christian should, but some have. Instead of bending over backwards to suggest that these people were "never REALLY saved in the first place", it's much easier to show that God abides by our decision to follow Him or reject Him.
    We don't earn salvation for ourselves, but God gives it to us when we humbly and self-effacingly ask it of Him. Likewise, He takes it away when we demand He leaves.

    Pastor John here only quoted part of the verse (or only explained part) in 1st John. It says "and this life is in His Son". Life is in Christ. If you are IN CHRIST, you have life, if you leave Christ, you will not have life. And the proof that you can leave it are all the countless warnings against apostasy to born again believers in the churches.

    God help you if you look to a teacher and do not know the New Testament. There are about 80 warnings about falling away, falling from grace, etc. Trust no man with your soul. Seek them out yourself.
    Matthew 18: 32 “Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33‘ Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’ 34 “And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35 “My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.”
    John 5 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.” What is worse than being severely crippled for decades? Hell. Almost everything we know about hell, came from Jesus. Most were warnings to His disciples!
    James 5:19-20 (ESV) - My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
    2 Peter 2:20-21 (NIV) - If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
    and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would
    have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their
    backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: "A dog returns to its
    vomit," and, "A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud."

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

      Warren McGrew Hi Warren. The Bible says that even our faith to believe God is a gift. We are so depraved that we are not even capable of enough faith within ourselves to believe. Paul says that if we did have enough faith ourselves than we would boast. So, our saving faith is God's faith. He gets all glory. The most difficult thing for us to accept is The Gospel of Jesus Christ. We think God is like us. He is not. He forgives and that is it. It IS finished!

      You have been captured by Augustine and the later Calvinists.This was a disaster for the church. You will never understand if you believe in original sin. You must understand the beginning of God's first calling, when He dealt with Cain.
      Genesis 4:3 So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground. 4 Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions.       +Warren McGrew Cain and Abel being children of Adam and Eve, still had communion with God. With Cain we witness deliberate disobedience against God, and God put a mark on him for judgement. All of this happened before the law was given to Moses and before the death of Christ in time. Remember, man became worse and worse until God destroyed the entire world by the flood, excepting His choice of Noah and His family, whom God said Noah was found righteous in his time.
      Faith is a gift of God. Until we are made alive in the Spirit of God we are DEAD in sin. See Eph 2:1 and following verses.

      Why not talk to your wife. She has a duty to help you with your lusts. Whether or not she has a sex drive or not, she should be willing to (as a Christian) satisfy your needs as you satisfy hers. That's part of a marriage and part of being a Christian. We think of others above ourselves. We don't want our brothers and sisters to struggle with such things and help where we can. This should be especially true in a marriage.
      Talk to her with love about this. Do a bible study on the subject with her.

      Is this referring to actual death or spiritual death, though? Because I’ve heard that, if you don’t follow God in this life, but are still saved, He can choose to bring you to Heaven early. This is a genuine question, so, please don’t get angry with me or anything. I just know that there’s two types of death and they’re both technically mentioned in the Bible.

      My friend, it speaks of the physical death that the wicked man will suffer in the hands of God (v.18). That is a customary language used by people in the Old Testament times. Verse 9 expressly says that the wicked “shall die in his iniquity”; as Proverbs 2:22 asserts- “the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it”.

      @@oncergirl6600 Everyone dies, so this is concerning eternity. Heaven, or tormenting hell and the Lake of Fire forever. It ties in to the scripture that reads, those who endure to the end shall be saved. The one who fell away, didn't endure to the end, and went to hell, and the one who did righteousness one day, he didn't have to endure long, only a day, but he went to heaven. He was possibly one day away from hell. God is good.
      The whole bible is a book of salvation, even the OT. God will show one, if they sincerely ask Him, with a good heart, or good intent.

    A truly born again can lose his/her salvation if he rejects Christ along the way due to temptation. Once saved always saved is a doctrine of demons.

    Hebrews 6:4-6 says that a person can fall away after being saved. Notice it says those who are partakers of Holy Spirit. A person cannot recieve Holy Spirit until he is saved. Verse 6 says those who fall away after being partakers of the Holy Spirit will find it impossible to come to repentance . Which means there is a possibility of falling away. Otherwise the verse would have said it is impossible to fall away after you are saved, but we know thats not what it says.

      The Bible ALSO says "every tree which does not bear fruit will be cut off". Quoting an isolated verse out of context doesn't exhaust the TOTALITY of the biblical witness on any given issue. For example, the pericope on the judgment of the nations (cf. Matthew 25: 31-46) makes clear there are people who go through life believing they are saved (Lord, Lord, did we not.....Depart from Me for I NEVER knew you), and yet AREN'T. They may have had faith, but then did not persevere until the end.

    Did anyone else find his explanation extremely confusing? I feel like he twisted himself in a logical pretzel. After 8 minutes, he ends by saying, “perseverance in faith is the evidence that we’ve been made part of Christ and when that perseverance doesn’t hold, then we were never in [Christ].”
    How is that assurance of anything? How can you know you are saved if your perseverance in faith has to “hold” and you cannot know whether your perseverance has held to the end until you get to the end?
    Frankly, it makes more sense that you can be saved and then choose for yourself to walk away. Like in any family, I cannot change who my father is, but if I want to leave his house, change my name, and disown him, I have the free will to do so. It’s not a reflection on my father, it’s a reflection on me.

      The assurance comes from the Holy Spirit when we are walking right. If we don't have assurance from God, something is wrong. We then need to seek God and heed what He tells us. It helps to have a good pastor and church, too.

    I think this is a very good interpretation of the Word. I believe a born-again believer won't "lose" salvation once he's saved, but there's a big danger: Many people falsely think they are already saved and use that as an excuse to keep sinning in the lack of fear of God. For that reason, "once saved always saved" is a phrase that must be used carefully, to not lead people into hell.

      God bless you but once save always save is not true. The Bible tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Your salvation is something you work on daily with the help of the Holy Spirit not by your own strength. Being saved does not automatically mean one is going to heaven. We first must be saved, then transformed by the Holy Spirit and become disciples of Christ. It’s crucial to have a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. God bless you.

      Most Christians where I live lack fear of God, because they think they are already saved and don't need to fear hell anymore, which leads to them not really taking sin seriously. David Pawson's interpretation was that salvation is not a an immediate moment but a the process of us getting rid of sin, as we grow in faith with the help of our Lord. That kinda resonates with me. One thing is sure: while we don't deserve salvation by our good deeds, faith without works is still dead. God bless you too.

Sanctification is also a process. Therefore being justified. Is at one point in time as well as progressive. Isaac was a child of promise it had nothing to do with his choices. We are children of promise. We became that by faith. In the operation of God who raised Christ from the dead. God's promise to the seed of abraham was unconditional from my perspective. Because Paul said the law cannot disannul the promise. And if you are Christ you are that seed. So once you receive that seed. The Holy spirit the inheritance is irrevocable. That's how I see it. It also lines up with eternal life being a gift.

    Excellent answer Pastor John! So many fail to understand that Christ paid for ALL sin, past, present, and future! And the key is this, those who are the ELECT and predestined are the ones who are truly of Him! There are so many who were led into a false conversion by emotional means especially in many charismatic circles. Key scriptures: Rom. 10:9,10,13, Eph. 1:1-14, 1 John 5:13 Many are not using proper exegesis for there must be a delineation of justification and sanctification. IF God has "sealed" (Eph. 1:11-14) how can a fallible human break God's seal? Not.

      Christian Aaron Like a child who sins against his dad, eventually he will run to his dad crying and asking for his forgiveness. He knows the dad still loves him as much as ever and will readily accept his repentance. Repentance is agreeing with God that what you did was wrong, and you wish to turn away from your sins. He is the perfect Father, never will He cast you out. He will absolutely discipline you, but your His child evermore.

    The problem is that the New Birth experience, like a natural birth, cannot be faked because it is the Holy Spirit who places believers into the Body of Christ following a genuine faith response to the Gospel. No one gets into the Church that was not genuinely saved. Still, there is nothing to stop them walking away due to persecution or pressure, although we are encouraged to stand firm during those times. The “they” in I John 2:19 clearly refers to people representing the Antichrist-those who “deny that Jesus is the Christ” and “deny the Father and the Son” (vs. 22-23) These were activists opposing the person, work and mission of Christ, not a believer who is defeated by lust or the pressures of life and decided to abandon his faith. Be careful of teachers who use Scripture out of context!

      I think there is something to your opening statement but, since the ancient churches have always taught that the New Birth is baptism and, since the ancients churches have always taugh and practiced infant baptism, I would say the matter entails more but, through it all, I believe you are correct since the Holy Spirit is the power behind the Sacrament of baptism that causes a soul to become a member of the body of Christ. I remember that day very well and I was fulfilled knowing that regardless what happens in my life, I have his strenght end that I can trust in him as my saviour when my time comes.......... Some time later I have falled short, went back to masturbation, porn, lying.... I have become a horrible person. This verse that you have presented makes me feel (this is how I understand it), that because I knew him as my lord and saviour, because I have accepted his gift, yet I have started to heavily sin... I can be saved no more... Today I asked Jesus for forgiveness, I have openly admitted that I was a sinner and I want to repent and trust him as my lord and saviour.       Repent of your sins, and ask Jesus to forgive you. He will forgive you. And you can get back into his grace! You're supposed to turn away from your sin, but people do slip up and as long as you repent God will forgive you.

      +Tim Lewis What do you mean by "return to a life of sin", because every single Christian has and will sin after being justified. Just read Romans 7, you could hear and almost feel Paul's despair that he continues to wage war against the flesh and follow its laws (by sinning) but that the law of his mind (no doubt in connection with true repentance and related to the truth of Romans 10:10-14) is there as well and because of that we are justified. Sanctification is another part of the totality of salvation, but the two are not the same and I think people confuse the two.

    Jesus called me in a dream. He told me he wanted to take me with him to his fathers house. I read scripture and heard preacher and i know i am saved. I struggle still with sin, porn, Homosexual desires, and gambling. No matter how hard i try or pray these things will simply not go away or "repent", in fact when i try to resist these things IT GETS WORSE. I had given up trying to stop sinning because i cannot do it of myself, I have just surrendered and Trust Jesus with my salvation. i know his sacrifice has saved me.He will make me better, he is probably just pruning me.

You too can be delivered from this sin. Once set free, you need to learn how to maintain your freedom by staying away from anything that will cause you to sin.

    This was like listening to a piano or a guitar that is out of tune. For a pastor, such immature understanding coming from a teacher of His people.
    Almost every parable throughout all four Gospels, teaches a 'faith + works' path to salvation and connect some phrase like "enduring to the end", "keeping my commandments", "obeying"...always some qualifying action on our behalf. What happened to the 'unprofitable servant', or to the 'evil servant', or to 5 of the 10 virgins? What happens to the branches that produce no fruit?
    James 2:24, "You see then that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone" The Greek word there that is translated 'justified' means, 'made righteous before God'. That verse would then read, "You see then that a man is made righteous before God by works and not by faith alone". Could it be any plainer than that?
    It is in this 'works' area of our walk that we can fail. When everything in life is just hunky-dory, it's easy to live a Christian life, but when the storms come and the going gets tough, our faith is tested, and that's when we either endure or turn back.
    Yes, there are those 'tares' who were never Christians and don't walk the talk, but don't be deceived - Christians have entered through the narrow gate, but now have a narrow, difficult path to walk before they "receive the end of your faith - the salvation of your souls" 1Peter 1:9.
    There is a world of difference between those verses that speak to works before confession of Christ and to works after confession of Christ. Works before are like dirty rags but works after are just as important as your faith is. If the Gospels all connect faith with works as the true path, then every ambiguous verse thereafter regarding salvation, must be read through the template of the Gospel's message.

    Brothers and sisters God bless every one of you. I'll dip my oar in to this conversation and I pray those reading will listen.
    I DO BELIEVE that if you are TRULY born again, you will not lose salvation. I am speak from experience.
    I was working hard to get to know the Lord and I was beginning to walk in righteousness. But, when I was four months into my walk, I was at university. I still hadn't even read a quarter of the Bible and was not rooted in his word nor understood how he operated. I was going through a stormy time with God where "the spiritual high" had worn off and I didn't have a lot of spiritual support and my roommates were pagans (Nothing against them at all, they are wonderful people). But I had been praying on a husband and Satan sent me the counterfeit. And me, wanting a relationship and being so pre mature in my walk, fell for the counterfeit. I didn't intentionally up and leave God. My lover seemed pretty harmless at first. Drinking from time to time, etc. The Holy Spirit definitely warned me. I didn't understand. Beginning to fall and thinking that he was "close enough" to a man of God. We get into a relationship and things get worse. The holy spirit tells me to stop and then I begin to smoke again and then the swearing came back. I would cry upset with what I was doing and then go back to being with him. It was the biggest tug a war I have ever been through. He became abusive to me yelling at me until I cried, apathetic to me, a huge narcissist. I wasn't feeling conviction anymore and I had become stuck in a soul tie. By the time I knew I needed to go back to God I felt like I had dug myself in a huge pit. I knew that I messed up, bad. I had to go back my spirit BURNED for him. I was parched like a desert that only he could fill. I hadn't departed from the faith at all I believed in the Lord I was ashamed I was going behind his back but I felt so overrun I didn't know what to do and the soul tie was destroying me. I wanted to give up but I'm telling you, the spirit in me PERSEVERED FOR ME. I saw the spirit telling me to come back over and over and I knew I was going too even though I was surrounded in darkness I knew I was going to ultimately go back. I took baby steps to recover with how bad I had fallen. I started to talk to him and ask how should I get out of this? (And me being blind) asked him should I break up with him? Once I spoke to him he's spirit took hold and is what controlled me from smoking, I can't make this up. He made it as clear as day the holy spirit revealed to me in an instant as I looked at him the absolute absence of God in him and I broke up with him it was either that day or the next.
    After seeing how I was abused and thinking I knew better, do you think a loving father would abandon his child? Not at all.
    He never left me.
    Not once.
    In my darkness I saw how the Lord worked.
    I feared him and I was running away when I had snowballed into my pit. In my case, I didn't even know scripture. So all of these arguments and things for different scriptures were ones I had never known because I hadn't even read them.
    Only the holy spirit can draw you to repentance.
    "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day"
    If you desire God, it means God wants you.
    Everyone whom my Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me,

    But even if we speak like this, dear friends, we feel sure about you. We know that you have the better blessings that belong to your salvation. God is not unfair. He will not forget the work you did or the love you showed for him in the help you gave and are still giving to other Christians.

    So like Piper said everyone is caught up in Hebrews 6 but even the author of Hebrews was like yeah i was harsh. They are still sure the Lord will execute justice and bring you to the finish line no matter what.
    The author is saying that it is impossible to BRING THEM BACK TO REPENTANCE because THEY CANNOT turn away from their sins. But wait, no matter how far you've fallen, if you feel the NEED to go back repentance and YOU ARE INDEED turning away from your sins how is this possible? Because his GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU and he desires you more than you will ever know.
    If this great firm falling away does happen your heart would have to become as hard as the Pharisees again, be sound and resolute in your stance, and hate God which are all evidences that you never knew God nor were you truly born again and you become one of the seeds of the parable of the seeds in Luke.
    I'm not saying grace is a license to sin. But again we are saved by grace not works. When he says to "work out" your salvation Piper brought up his point of oh now I'm saved im vaccinated I'm good. No. If one is truly born again they wouldn't have this mentality anyways unless they were given false doctrine and don't know better because of how they are a babe in Christ. I see this as he wants to develop a relationship with you so you understand him and this takes time and to step into the PURPOSE HE HAS PREDESTINED FOR YOU. You're his patient and he wants us to be feel secure and confident in him. And people forget the verse AFTER "working out your salvation." It's because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey his own purpose.

    SO ITS GOD ALREADY WORKING IN YOU. IT IS HIS BLOOD BOUGHT POWER THAT HE MOTIVATES YOU TO WORK IT OUT THE PURPOSE AND PLAN HE HAS FOR YOU THAT IS A PROMISE. IF HE WAS NOT ALREADY IN YOU THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. What about people who repent on their death bed and die and didn't "work out" their salvation? Come on now.

      I'm very glad things turned out well for you ma'am and we need to thank God for His mercy and goodness towards us. Most people here are missing the points I've been trying to make. I've said (written in this case) all that's required. My main point to repeat myself is people who are saved need to keep God's commandments, period. Those who think they can willfully sin and God will look the other way ... well ... for the final time: "But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die."
      After studying the Bible for 40+ years, I've found no scriptures saying or even suggesting that a person who repented (got saved) and fell back into sin was never saved to begin with. If that person repents (again) and turns from his/her sin they will be saved though it does get harder to be restored.
      Lisa, most folks here are also missing the severity of sin in God's eyes. It saddens me to witness good Christian people attempt to reduce the majesty and holiness of God. Sin separated us from God ... and sin is the one thing that can do it after salvation. Repent and believe the Gospel.

      I had a similar experience with unbelief by going into some false teachings
      because of my own immaturity and weakness.
      Even in my unbelief, the Lord was WITH ME telling me that He would restore me.
      The Lord restored me back into faith.
      I look back and I am just awe-struck at His love and faithfulness.
      Even when we stumble, He is faithful in keeping us in His salvation.
      He who began the good work WILL complete it.

Heb. 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Several verses speak of God blotting or not blotting names out of the book of life: “I will not blot out his name out of the book of life” (Rv 3:5); “God shall take away his part out of the book of life” (Rv 22:19); “...if thou wilt forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.... Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book” (Ex 32:32,33).

      If you could lose your salvation you would. Stop holding on to anything we can to add to what the Lord Jesus did on that cross. Believe and he saved. Good works are great, preaching, soul winning, reading the word, praying are all fruits of our salvation but faith alone in what Jesus did on that cross is the root of our salvation. The gospel is that simple and thank God He made it that simple.

      It sounds like you are saying the prodigal son died spiritually which it obviously says but do you think that means he lost the Holy Spirit and got it back? If he did, how would that be possible because it seems like to lose the Spirit would be to commit blasphemy? Hebrews 6 seems to indicate the warning is regarding believers who are immature in the faith and have not learned how to walk in the Spirit and be taught by God but seek to be taught by man. As a result, they are being chastened by God for their disobedience and neglect of their faith. So, I am curious why you think only a mature believer can commit blasphemy of the Spirit as it seems like a mature believer would be less likely because they would not as easily backside and if they did would be more likely to realize ir and turn back to God. Like Saul (immature) vs David (mature). Saul blasphemed and was a new immature believer whereas David backslid severely but was mature and knew himself and God well enough to turn back to God in repentance and faith and be restored. Not they David could have blasphemed as he was obviously worried about losing the Spirit.

    If a born again Christian partakes in the works of the flesh (galations 5), can he still enter heaven? The problem of OSAS is two fold. 1) it tacitly endorses a life of sin. I can do anything and not lose my salvation. 2) if you do struggle with sin, you must question your own conversion and ask if you truly are born again. OSAS preaches unrepentent sin or hopeless despair. It's an evil doctrine.

      Since the ancient churches have always taught born again means baptism, instead of questioning whether one is truly born again, it seems one should, instead, question why they are not asking God for the grace to overcome the sin. I do agree with you that OSAS does endorse a life of sin. That was true for me for 70 years.
      If the repentence and baptism = the start of the race, the middle of the race would be embracing the graces of God given us so we can continue the race till the end and, so that when we do fall, we get up, confess the sin and start running the race again from where we are. In that way, like OSAS tends to teach, you don't go back to baptism thinking that you missed something. You go forward in confession, striving, abiding and remaining and enduring till the end.
      Having said all this, each of our lives are between God and us. I can't judge others since I know I was lost in a sea of confusion for 70 years. It was only by God giving me a grace filled Damascas Road experience that I was able to begin taking logical and practical steps toward Him as I continue striving to do along my journey.

    2 Peter 2:20-22 among others is evidence you can turn away from God by sin, just like Adam and Eve starting off in the 'saved' state. Whilst I don't have a fear of my salvation wearing off overnight, it is good to have a healthy fear of being able to fall away. And God Himself makes it easier to give up sins and make the transformations necessary.

      @@christianmatteussen98 you have to read your bible. When does Jesus say that "wicked" people will be cast into a furnace of fire where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth? (Matthew 13:49) He says at the end of the world/age. Has the world ended yet? No, so no people are cast into a furnace of fire where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
      I'm not talking about "hell" the grave where both the righteous and unrighteous go to "sleep" after death.
      There are many other verses in the Bible that talk about a fixed day when sin lovers will have their genes wiped by an enormous fire. For example in Malachi 4 and the end of Isaiah 66. You live this life, then you go into a metaphorical time capsule until one of two future dates: the resurrection of life or the resurrection of damnation. Your next conscious thought after death will be one of these two resurrections, so technically in your personal timeline, Heaven and Hell happen "immediately" after death, but in the grand scheme of things this is not so.

      When we speak of the eternal security of the believer, what do we mean? We mean that once a poor sinner has been regenerated by the Word and the Spirit of God, once he has received a new life and a new nature and has been made partaker of the divine nature, once he has been justified from every charge before the throne of God, it is absolutely impossible that that man should ever again be a lost soul. Once Saved Always Saved!
      Many leading Bible teachers are saying "the only criterion for salvation is knowing and believing some basic facts about Christ." The fallout of this thinking, he says, is a deficient doctrine of salvation; justification is not necessarily and inevitably linked to sanctification. People feel they can pray a prayer, receive eternal life, and then go on sinning.
      The gospel of free grace will lead to holiness. Faith is redefined to include submission, and a man becomes a Christian not by "hearing" and "believing" but by believing and promising God he will submit his life to Christ. This is not to deny that true faith certainly involves a disposition of openness to God and cannot coexist with an attitude of determination to continue to sin.
      "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" (Romans 6:1).
      God has already told us what the means of salvation are and what they are not. Works are not a means, whether on the front end or on the back end. The only means necessary for obtaining salvation is faith, and faith alone:
      "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5).
      The "means" are the washing of regeneration (rebirth) and renewing by the Holy Spirit and not our good works. The means are one-faith. This faith is apart from any means involving works. Here is the key to our modern dilemma. The Reformers feared free grace and, as a result, did not take the Reformation far enough. That is, their doctrine of the saints perseverance in holiness compromised the free grace of God. Because the doctrine of justification by faith alone was potentially vulnerable to the charge of promoting license, the Reformers simply could not let go of the notion that works played a necessary part in our final arrival in heaven. Unable to accept that a regenerate man could live a life of sin and still be saved, they included works on the back end of the gospel as the means (result?) of salvation.
      If the saints must inevitably and necessarily persevere in godliness to the final hour, then the doctrine of rewards and chastisement at the judgment seat of Christ becomes murky. How can a man who has persevered in holiness be chastised? Since all who are regenerate will be rewarded anyway, perhaps many settle into spiritual dullness thinking all is well with their souls and there are no negative consequences to pay.
      And if the doctrine of punishment for a carnal life is vague and if the doctrine of rewards is reduced to promise of something that everyone will get anyway, then key motivators for living the Christian life are compromised. The most likely possibility for the continually sinning Christian is that he may not be a true Christian at all.
      Saints has been set apart by faith in Christ through the Holy Spirit. They are secure and safe in Him. God will persevere with those whom he has called to faith in Christ so that none will be lost.
      "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled" (John 17:12).
      The true Grace of God is a gift and will not be earned. The Father does chastise a son whom He receives but will never cast any of His own to hell.
      "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Matthew 12:32).
      It is obvious that the question of eternal security is inextricably involved with the question of free grace. If eternal life is truly offered "without cost" and salvation once received can never be lost, it might seem that some would take the grace of God for granted and live unfaithful lives.
      All motivation is lost, it is feared, to persevere in the life of faith. For the man who claims he is a Christian and who lives a sinful life, the Arminian warns him that he is in danger losing his salvation. The English Puritans, on the other hand, simply say he never had salvation to begin with and he had better re-examine his foundations; he is in danger of hell. Only the man who perseveres in a life of good works to the final hour, they said, is truly saved.
      The Reformed doctrine of the perseverance of the saints was an outgrowth of the accusations that the Reformation would logically result in moral laxity. It also provided a powerful means of refuting the Arminian teaching of conditional security.
      This doctrine is not only absent from Scripture but could, if not carefully stated, compromise the freeness of the grace of God. Eternal security of the saints, this doctrine has labored under amazing exegetical contortions at the hands of its advocates.
      This investigation will lead us into many related doctrines such as the relationship between justification and sanctification, assurance of salvation, and the relevance of the warning passages in the New Testament. Can a true Christian commit apostasy?
      Does the New Testament teach the existence of the carnal Christian? In addition, we will examine all of the passages commonly brought to bear on the question of eternal security and consider both Calvanist and Arminian exergesis.
      The entire context of First Corinthians describes activities of true Christians which parallel nearly every item in verses 9-10. They were involved in sexual immorality (6:15); covetousness (probable motive in lawsuits, 6:1); drunkenness (11:21); dishonoring the Lord's table (11:30--for this reason some of them experienced the sin unto death); adultery (5:1); and they were arrogant (4;18; 5:6).
      Yet this group of people that acts unrighteously, and that is guilty of all these things has been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (6:11)! They were washed and saved from all those things, and yet they are still doing them.
      That is the terrible inconsistence which grieves the apostle through all sixteen chapters of this book. His burden in 6:9-10 is not to call into question their salvation (he specifically says they are saved in verse 11. He said they are "sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints" (1:2) but that they were carnal (3:1,3).
      Sexual sin or getting drunk. Again, these sins cannot cause a true believer to lose his salvation. Surely a believer can lose fellowship with his Father but God does not leave a believer. The Spirit of God does not leave us when we are not good enough to please Him that delivered us from the wrath to come.
      "To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus" (I Corinthians 5:5).
      Salvation is the full pardon by grace from the penalty of all sin, past, present and future. The man who had 'his father's wife' - a terrible sin - didn't lose his salvation thereby.
      "I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee." (Isaiah 44:22)
      King David committed sins of murder and adultery and in the fifty-first Psalm, the prayer of David shows that he had not lost his salvation, but the joy of salvation.
      "And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD, And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die" (II Samuel 12:13).
      That God preserves His people from apostasy and sees to it that all of His elect ultimately enter heaven is the clear teaching of Holy Scripture.
      "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time" (I Peter 1:2,4,5).

      Make sure you approach God the way He expects you to with the right mindset. Prayers work together with what you need to have a resolve to do yourself.
      You must submit to God. That is essential:
      James 4:7-8
      7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
      That's what your attitude needs to be when you are going through the process of *repentance* and committing to be obedient to God for the rest of your life (that's the kind of "change of mind" God wants to see). You must sincerely regret having sinned against God, and come to the point of hearing and agreeing 100% with Jesus' message saying, "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11). Your obedience as you choose to follow God's ways is key--that's how you show your faith to God (John 3:36, Luke 6:46, Hebrews 3:17-18). That opens the door to receiving his *forgiveness* for your past sins (2 Peter 1:9), *healing* (Luke 5:31-32), *freedom from sin/addictions* (John 8:34-36), and the gift of *a new life* that you will live for God and no longer for sin and the passing things of the world (Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15). That is the salvation you must make sure you have experienced: freedom from sin (John 8:36, Romans 8:1-2) versus bondage to sin (John 8:34, Romans 7:23).
      Approaching God in genuine repentance will lead to you receiving the Holy Spirit to lead you to "walk by the Spirit" (Acts 2:38, Galatians 5:16)--with a pure heart and self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Any habit that controls you reveals idolatry in your heart. You have to choose to be done with that and it will be part of your past. That's one thing that will come out of your commitment to be obedient to God for the rest of your life. Please see 1 Peter 4:1-3 and 1 Thessalonians 1:9.

      Please stay in the word and obey it (James 1:21-22). The word of God is fuel for your faith. To live as a follower of Jesus you must go out of your way to put the word of God in your heart and keep it there, rejecting all distractions. It's a fight and that's how you need to stand to not fall down. The truth will set you free from all sin (John 8:31-32, 36).

      Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. How are any of these verses say you can loose the seal of the Holy Spirit? Can you even tell the difference between a saved person & one who is not?
      Jesus is the advocate of the saved. How can he represent the saved man only to turn and cast them into hell? When you trust in your self works, you are NOT trusting in the finished works of the cross Jesus did for man.

      “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”-Ephesians 6:11-13
      Paul is very clearly telling the members of the church that they must STAND FIRM in the face of evil and WRESTLE against the powers of darkness and WITHSTAND evil. But what need would there be for any of these things if salvation is simply guaranteed as long as you had faith at some point in your life and you can never lose that salvation?
      Just a few chapters earlier in Hebrews, Paul states very plainly:
      “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”-Hebrews 6:4-6
      Paul again very explicitly warns believers of being “severed” from Christ:
      “You are SEVERED FROM CHRIST, you who would be justified by the law; you have FALLEN AWAY from grace.”-Galatians 5:4
      You cannot be severed from something that you were never joined with. Paul very clearly says believers who seek to be justified by the Law have been SEVERED from Christ, have FALLEN AWAY from grace.
      Finally, finishing once again in Hebrews, Paul makes this exhortation:
      “But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, IF INDEED WE HOLD OUR ORIGINAL CONFIDENCE FIRM TO THE END.”-Hebrews 3:13-14
      Paul urges the believers to exhort one another, specifically because they CAN be hardened by sin and lose their “confidence.” Paul further says that the only way to share in Christ is to hold on to our confidence.
      Salvation is not a one-and-done thing, it is a lifetime of faith and obedience and repentance.

How can one fall away from something they never had? They knew OF salvation, but did NOT follow through accepting Jesus as savior, How so? Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
      Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
      Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. These are not even babes in Christ. They tried to add the law to Jesus thinking this is salvation.
      You ran to Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Only cause it says fell from grace. Question here is what is Paul saying? Can you serve the law & Christ? NO. NOT both.Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
      Galatians 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
      Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
      Galatians 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
      Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. What is Paul saying in context?

In other words you have to continue in your relationship with God. He says to seek Him with all your heart and you will find him. Don't rely on yourself for salvation. Read John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life. You have to talk to Jesus. Trust Him. He will reveal Himself to you and He will teach you how to live for Him. Living for Him and following His commandments is the enduring part. Relationship with Him involves praying and reading His Word. He will be a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He will never leave you or abandon you. Call on Jesus. He loves you.

      You are saved when you receive be Holy Spirit and you will know if you have as it is superndtiral. You entire heart will change in terms of your mind, desires, emotions, attitudes, etc. God’s word will become like drinking from the Spirit and will be sweeter than honey and His word will start changing you on the inside and you will hear Jesus’ voice when you read the word. Your spirit will be strengthened and comforted and you will have power over sin and desire to holy and righteousness. You will often feel the Spirit leading you to do or not do certain things daily. You will have Godly sorrow when you sun if you heart is soft. You will experience the fruits of the Spirit inside your soul such as love, peace, patience, joy, hope, self control, wisdom, etc. if you have not experienced this fellowship with the Lord via the Spirit of Christ then surrender your life to Him and ask for the Holy Spirit and to be filled and tell Bim you want to love and obey Him and He will give you the gist if you are broken and sincere.

    Judas healed the sick, drove out demons,and raised the dead according to the Gospels, yet Satan entered him. Judas had to have had the power of the Holy Spirit within him, but still faltered at the end. This motivates me to always be aware of my behavior and attitude towards God, to be as obedient as possible, to be as gracious to others as I can, to be quick to forgive and quick to ask forgiveness when I am wrong. Believers need to stop worrying about can I lose my salvation and concentrate on making a life change by Jesus as attractive as possible.

      You can't find anywhere in the gospels that explicitly say Judas performed any miracle by the power of the Holy Spirit. In order for Judas to have had the Holy Spirit at ANY POINT that would mean God would have had to have given Judas to Jesus, which He did not (John 17:12). God would have had to predestine him from the foundation of the world to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29). If Judas had been given the Holy Spirit, that would mean that He belonged to Jesus (Romans 8:9-11), and he did not, as the previous quote from John shows. If Judas had the Holy Spirit, that would mean he had been foreknown, predestined, called, justified, and glorified with Jesus (Romans 8:30) Even if Judas did perform miracles, that would be meaningless in determining whether or not he was saved. The name of Jesus is powerful enough that, whether it is spoken by reprobates or sons of the living God, demons, sickness, disease, and Hell itself must BOW to it. Many people who are reprobate and unsaved perform miracles; you see that in the Old Testament and the New. Jesus said as much (Matthew 7:21-23).

      Acts 19:13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims." 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this.
      15 But the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" 16 And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
      So we see that one must be inhabited by the Holy Spirit to use the name of Jesus
      Second, Judas did heal the sick, drive out demons, and raise the dead. In Matthew 10:5 Jesus gives this authority to the 12 and sends them to Jewish villages to preach. Then later sends out 72 with the same abilities (it's in Luke, see if you can find it). As for when Jesus says many who did miracles in His name were never known to Him, maybe they were believers who backslid. Either way we must fight the good fight, run the good race to receive the prize. I, for one, don't want to risk my salvation on the "once saved always saved" doctrine. Peter told us to be holy even as God is holy, and as a follower of Christ I will obey.

      MrStevekehl You're kind of ignoring John 17:12. To quote the verse directly, "those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled." Again, if Judas had the Spirit of God, that would mean he was regenerated, he knew Jesus was the Messiah, God in the flesh, he placed faith in Him for the salvation of his soul. That would mean God had predestined him from the foundation of the world to be conformed to the image of His Son, that Judas was foreknown, predestined, called, justified and glorified. Jesus clearly stated in His prayer to God the Father that Judas was the son of perdition. He was not saved. We then have two explanations. Either Judas didn't perform miracles, or, as Jesus Himself said, there are those who are able to perform miracles in His name that are not saved. And your interpretation that they were Christians who backslid is proven false by Jesus' response to their question. He told them He NEVER knew them. He didn't say, "I knew you, but you didn't do the proper works to keep your salvation," He said, "I never knew you, depart from me, thou workers of iniquity." Jesus also said that false prophets will be able to perform great signs. The sorcerers in Pharoah's court did miracles by the dark arts. This is not a new theme in Scripture.
      As regarding Acts 19:13, I will concede that you have made a good point. I would however raise the question, "Is there a difference between a person who outright rejects Christ so that they use distancing language like 'the Jesus whom Paul preaches' to refer to Christ and one who is commanding demons on the basis of a belief in the authority inherent in the name of Jesus--which is higher than any name, blessed forever--though not necessarily placing their faith in Him as the perfect sacrifice for their sins as the sinless Son of God?"

      MrStevekehl Secondly, in spite of our disagreement on this issue, I will state that I believe this is an "in-house debate." I do not question your salvation. I am jealous for the glory of God and His call to holiness in our lives, but I find just as Paul did in Romans 7 that when I put myself under the Law and say "I must do this or this, or I must ask forgiveness for each individual sin," or whatever else have you, "in order to keep my salvation," I lived like a sinner. When I had the revelation of God's everlasting love for me and His free gift of grace, my life changed. However, I do not believe anyone who lives in a state of sin without the conviction of the Holy Spirit is saved (Hebrews 12:7, 8: " If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons."), nor do I believe that anyone who has defected from the faith was ever saved to begin with (1 John 2:19).

      Ethan Channing Let me be clear, I don't doubt your salvation either. This topic is not to be taken lightly or debated by young Christians. It is a "meat" subject. The once saved always saved doctrine has lead many astray, thinking they can be saved while acting wordly; sinning boldly so grace may abound. In Matthew 10:22, 24:13 and Mark 13:13 Jesus talks about hardship coming with our faith,but the one who endures to the end shall be saved. Also the Parable of the Sower,Jesus says the rocky soil are those that receive the Word with joy, but have no root. Likewise, the rocky soil represents those where the Word takes root and begins to grow, but wordly concerns choke out their faith. If those who fall away were never really saved, how can any of us have any confidence in our salvation? I say I am saved, but is there an event in my future that will crush my faith and show that it was a delusion? You are right to point out John's Gospel where Jesus says he will not lose any the Father has given Him. Jesus doesn't lose us, we turn our back on Him. We betray Him with the choices we make. While I don't believe every sin separates us from God anew, nor do we need to make lists of sins or go to confession to be forgiven of individual sins. It is important to see areas of weakness in our lives and ask forgiveness of sins in those areas. Through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit we can achieve victory over our weakness and grow in Christ. Then we will see the harvest 30, or 50, or 100 times over. God Bless

    OSAS is easily proved using 2 verses.
    John 6:39 - "And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day."
    What is Jesus talking about here? What was given to him, and what will he raise up in the last day? The next verse tells us.
    John 6:40 - "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."
    Therefore, Jesus always does the will of the father. The will of the father is that all men called by the father, Christ will lose NONE. If we can lose our Salvation, Jesus did not do the will of the father.

MAY HAVE everlasting life. Salvation is a conditional state. If you believe in Jesus,have faith in His blood,you are justified. To know Him is to love Him. And if you love Him you'll follow His commandments. And the first commandment He gives after you accept Jesus,is to become established in His word. Rom 16:25,26. One has to endured unto the end in faith to have salvation.

      I don't believe once saved always saved.
      because Paul clearly states if we don't overcome the flesh with the holy spirit then we will not inherit the kingdom of God.

      I believe this meant that even chrisitians will scarcely make it into heaven.

      2 Corinthians 7:1 we should be working towards complete holiness because we fear the lord.
      1 peter 1:14 So you must live as God's obedient children. Don't slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn't know any better then.
      1 Peter 1:15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
      1 John 2:4-6 If someone claims, "I know God," but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God's word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
      1 John 3:6 Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.

      Chad Daniels one can pick out a verse here and there,after listening to a heretick, and all of a sudden you feel like you actually understand that verse,and verses similar that could correlate osas. Osas is so rare which is evident due to so many many false,unstable preacher teachers proclaiming this and that. What might help you to understand is if someone believes in Jesus has faith in His blood,they are justified,peace with God.
      But the Very First Commandment to a new believer is to become established in His words,the bible,and even tells one how to read the bible which is the narrow way (to heaven)....which many thousands of false teachers preachers dont even know exist.so they read the bible any ol way they want to and wrest the scriptures to their understanding,not Gods. Which is why there are so many divisions amongst the different churches and believers. When someone reads the bible like God commands us to read it. The way God wants you to understand it becomes very clear and very different compared to how 1000 of preacher teachers, teach it. Its not an automatic understanding of scripture,but its revealed to each reader,who is sincerely searching for His truth over time,and each time you read the bible accordingly,your understanding becomes deeper and and more established , to the point YOU CANNOT be swayed to and fro with different winds of doctrine or false teachins. And as this is occuring, along with the fruits of your faith , enduring to the end,is salvation. Once this path to God is followed,He blesses you not with only the desire to have fruit,but the will to do it,and the power to do it. But just spurting out there osas to anyone is a false teaching. Because then lost souls who think they ard saved just by believing in Jesus, remain lost by not following Gods establishment commandment....because the churches dont even know what it is,and the few that know of it dont practice nor preach it.

    John Piper has a lot of good stuff, but he's wrong here. Christians CAN fall away. The "once saved always saved" idea is not found in Scripture anywhere. Period. The Bible is replete with evidence that we can fall away from the faith. The Hebrews writer warns his readers about drifting away (Ch. 2) and falling away (Ch. 6). Peter similarly warns his readers in 2 Peter 2:19-22. What about Demas? He was a fellow worker of Paul's at one point. Sadly, the last we see of Demas is that he deserted Paul because he was in love with the world (2 Timothy 4:10). I personally know many people who were once Christians and have fallen away. Some have returned to the faith, while others have not. Some may say that people who fall away weren't truly Christians, but that's not the case. Go back to Hebrews 6. The writer talks about people who had fallen away. These people were ones "who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come." Sounds a lot like Christians to me. And like I said, I personally know people who have fallen away. I witnessed their faith and conviction about Jesus. The world just became to enticing for them. Also, if we can't fall away, why would Satan try to tempt us and pull us from God? It's clear he prowls around trying to devour us (1 Peter 5:8). Why bother if we can't fall away? It just doesn't make sense. The only way we can't fall away is if we walk in the light (1 John 1:7-9). If we've followed God's commands for salvation, and then we live for Him, we can't fall away. If we stop obeying God's commands and pursue other things, we can. It's that simple.

      @@joseyanes8376 this prize that Paul is talking about is not eternal life. You know that there is nothing you can do to win eternal life, besides trust in the already finished work of Jesus.
      I encourage you to research those two verses and see what this "prize" is.
      if you are so sure that the apostles were unsure of their salvation, then what does this mean - "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." - 1 John 5:13. ... that is present tense "have".
      You can know you have eternal life by examining the fruit in your life. How do you know you really believe the gospel? its by the fruit in your life. If you are truly born again you should be continually repenting, and believing Jesus for the promise. He is the messiah, your deliverer, He alone will do what he promised, which is deliver you to heaven by trusting him alone, and not in your works. Your works are a confirmation of your salvation, but they in themselves wont save you. Christ will save you.
      No one will be a hero in the end, Jesus is the only hero. No one will be able to say, "I have won the prize of heaven", because that would be boasting. Apostle Paul says "it is by grace you are saved, so that none may boast". Again I hope you research those verses.
      Romans 5:9 - "Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God."
      Romans 5:10 - "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life."
      so while we were enemies of God we were saved by his blood, much more now that we are justified, shall he save us from His wrath by his life! He will do it for his glory.

      Mya Bri repent and turn to Jesus. Cry out to Him to free you from your sin. Rend your heart, weep and mourn over your sin. Pray to Him to help you feel broken and mourn over it and for Him to have mercy on you. A contrite heart is the only way back to God like the prodigal son had. See the story. Do it now though and don’t wait a minute- Jesus could come back at any time.

    MANY are called but few are chosen. It's one thing to allow the Lord to finish the work in you He started but if your free will chooses to step outside of His grace and never repent for the sin we all are subject to on this earth, then you chose not to allow the Lord to complete that good work. Work out your salvation, brothers and sisters, with fear and trembling.

      Justin Lim look at king David. If you can’t call that willful sin I don’t know what is. But he returned with a contrite heart. And the Word says “a contrite heart you will not turn away”. Psalm 51
      But with that being said, I do believe there is a point of no return when your heart is hardened to the point that you never will desire repentance. Reprobate mind if you will.

      No blindness, just believing God's promises to ever who fully puts their faith and trust in Him. If you had only one verse that you could read, John 3 v16 that would be the only verse you would ever need to know. One word says everything about Gods promise to us, Everlasting!

    Our pastor has been preaching Exodus for weeks and I want to share something with you. We know the Passover in Exodus is like our salvation through Jesus Christ.
    God’s people are ultimately saved by the covering and blood of Jesus Christ, the lamb of God. However there is an added symbol of the leaven wedged in within the story of the Passover we ought not to overlook. The leaven symbolizes sin, and in the New Testament, God tells us leaven can spread like sin and can even be a small bit which can expand and grow into the whole dough lump.
    The people were instructed by God to remove every single trace of leaven within their homes, lest they be CUT OFF.
    This is an action we must take in accordance to the Will and leading of God to do something to remove sin in our lives. We are called to be holy as He is Holy.
    The salvation of the blood of Jesus is not complete without the repentance from sin and the acts to rid our lives of that sin.
    So yes a lamb can be slain for you but if you ignore the command to remove sin from your life you may be placed with the hypocrites. The New Testament talks about the leaven which is of Malice and hypocrisy. We do not want to be placed with the hypocrites or cut off from the land of the living God.
    We need to be much more careful in working out our salvation and daily seek His face and Will.
    The “once saved always saved” doctrine is lacking if all you do is take the Passover lamb but fail to remove the leaven/sin during that period of time you may be placed with the hypocrites and cut off.

    13 Questions that those who teach a Christian can be Saved then Lost CANNOT answer:
    1. How can a person, who has received Christ and all that accompanies that process, as a gift from God that He does not “repent” (change His mind) over, then be lost when the possession of the very gift we are speaking of means ETERNAL life?
    2. How can a person whose salvation does not remotely depend on any human works or effort, but solely on the power and work of God in Christ, be lost by any sort of human works, effort, or action, by the body or by the mind?
    3. How can a person that Christ died for paying the full penalty of the law, and satisfying the very demands of God’s justice, leave that covenant, therefore, requiring Christ to pay that penalty again?
    4. How can a person who has been redeemed by an ETERNAL redemption by the powerful, precious, infinitely valuable blood of Christ, be placed back in a condition of condemnation?
    5. How can a person who has been “born of incorruptible (undying) seed”* and is therefore given ETERNAL life as a gift that God does not “repent” (change His mind) of, die spiritually?
    6. How can a person that God promises will not come under condemnation, then come under said condemnation?
    7. How can a person who has BECOME a new creature in Christ then become an old creature again?

How can a person who has the Holy Spirit living, or abiding, in them forever; is sealed by the Spirit for security and as a witness to Christ’s ownership; and if this person has been given the Spirit as a GUARANTEE of something that can only be reached in eternity, how can this person NOT be secure?
    12. How can a person who is the object of God’s love and therefore saved, not an object of His wrath and therefore condemned, who is promised God’s love will always be true; actually, it is the very reason of salvation, be lost?
    13. How can a person who has been saved by the very power God declares He used to raise Christ from the dead and seat Him at the apex of power and glory possibly become lost and spend eternity in hell?

He has shown interest in baptizing Orthodox Christian and I must understand the basics of where he is coming from to engage in conversation with him.       @Morgh123 Do you call obedience good works? Once a person is converted unto God through repentance, He receives the Holy Spirit to teach and guide him into all truth. The Holy Spirit speaks through our conscience. That is why we must ALWAYS keep a good , clean and pure conscience, just like Paul had it in Acts 24:16 'This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.' If our conscience is pure and clean, we have NOTHING to worry about and we WILL be saved. It is as simple as that. It really is not hard to do. But the FIRST step that we must do, is make ourself FREE from the love of the world and the things in the world. That is step #1. 'Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the LOVE of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world.' (1 John 2:15-16) How can we expect to be welcomed into God's kingdom when we love the world or the things in the world, thus telling God that we don't LOVE Him?

    2 Peter 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What true proverb says has happened to them "The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing itself, returns to wallow in the mire"This made me think "Hmm maybe you can lose your salvation?" I am seeking His word and His voice concerning this because I do not know everything there is to know about God and I am humbly and eagerly searching for the truth. I prayed for God to make it clear and as I was typing, the parable about the sower (Matt 13) came to me. Some of the seeds sprouted up right away and dried up quick because the roots weren't deep, others were eaten by birds after falling off to the side, some fell on the thorns and when they sprouted, they were choked by the thorns...but some, fell on GOOD soil. The soil that was prepared for the seed. And it brought forth fruit! PRAISE THE LORD FOR THIS CLARITY! Those who 'lose their salvation' were not good soil. Anyone have anything else to add? I want to understand more!

      Kristina, I read your post and felt compelled to respond. Salvation comes through faith alone. Once you believe you have eternal life. If you could lose it, then it wouldn't be eternal. If you have to work to keep it then it no longer a gift. The parable of the sower describes the 4 types of people. The two who's seed fell on pour soil describe typical American Christians. The word (seed) produces life (salvation) but they never go forth to produce fruit or more disciples. they are saved, but will not earn rewards and their condition is worse when they started. Remember when reading scripture to post attention to context, audience and purpose. Most will cherry pick versus to substantiate their point, for example 1 John was written to mature believers (already saved) on how to have confidence before Christ's throne. it wasn't a salvation test or written for the purpose of evangelism.

      Matthew Degeorge Amen! Good comment. Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists will always take the parable of the sower out of context and use eisegesis and will always misinterpret soils 2 and 3 as "unsaved false professors", and only see the 4th soil as the truly saved.
      The fact is, there are more Luke 8:13-14 Christians in this world, but they are still saved.

    God keeps you, not yourself (Jude 1:24-25). The Holy Spirit is our gurantee of Salvation forever (Eph. 1:13-14). Jesus will lose none that the Father has given Him (John 10). Sinning too much? Read Romans 7 and learn that Paul struggled with sin and that he said it wasn't him, but his sinful nature! Finally, Heb. 6 and Gal. 5 are hypothetical arguments because 1 John 2:19 doesn't allow a true Born-Again Believer to actually lose their salvation...rather "those" outliers were never actually saved (thus, the parable of the different types of Soils).

    Thanks for preaching the truth. Only blood takes away sin and nothing else, only the sacrifice of Christ did it. We cannot undo it, because it relies on the performance of our Saviour and not ours. Someone may decide in their mind to abandon the faith but the Spirit will forever be there whispering and guiding:)

    What I don't understand about the doctrine of eternal security is, what is the point of repentance after salvation if you believe that you can never fall out of favor with God? What is the point of picking up your cross and enduring in faith and obedience to the end, if all you have to do is have one encounter with Jesus with no strings attached and that's it?
    Do you not believe that you can grieve the Holy Spirit? Can one make it to heaven without ever regularly praying?
    Do you not believe that the wages of sin is still death even for the saved?
    I'm not trying to be contentious or rude, but I want to know why some other Christians believe this doctrine.

      You ask good questions. The fact is that scripture does not teach you only need one encounter with Jesus and that's it. It teaches salvation in past, present, and future tenses. We have been saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved. It also speaks of the believer's HOPE of eternal life. You do not hope for something you already have because if you already have it, you don't need to hope for it. Paul puts it this way:
      "For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Rom 8:24-25 NIV
      On the one hand, we already have eternal life when we believe in Jesus, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." John 3:36 ESV
      But on the other hand, we have hope in what is promised in the gospel, "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the HOPE held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant." Col 1:21-23 NIV

    Pastor John. I do not quite agree with your answer. Hebrews 6:4-6 says "4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame".
    These people were once enlightened and they, on their own, chose to turn their backs on Christ. This is not talking about about simple backslidding but denouncing of Jesus. Those who denounce Jesus lose their salvation.
    1 John 5:16 "6 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it." There is a sin that leads to death.
    Hebrews 10:26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,"
    God forgives all sin except denying Jesus. My answer would be a big YES, if they denounce Christ they lose salvation.
    I would have given your answer if the question is "Can God take away salvation from us?" No. But we can turn back our backs on Him, which leads to death.

"IF you love me you will keep my commandments." God gives us His Holy Spirit, The Spirit of power and a sound mind, to obey him and fight the fight against the world, the flesh and the devil. It is spiritual warefare the Christian is engaged in. That is why Jesus says, "To those who overcome I will give the crown of life"; and He says to them, "Well done, good and faithful servant".

    Consider this : The whole book or epistle of 1 Corinthians is a letter that is addressed to the "saints" in Corinth. In other words, that letter and those warnings is addressed to people that had already been " born again " or who are already "saved". Pray tell, why would Paul spend so much time warning Saints or saved people about the things that could keep them from getting to heaven if there is/was no possible way for those "Saints" could miss out ? All of Paul's epistles are to "Saints" not to the lost. Rightly dividing the word is 100% necessary for us to understand it correctly and even then we will need the infilling of the spirit to help our understanding.

    I think the problem with this topic is that people are making the wrong assumption with this ideology. *It's not 'Once Saved, Always Saved' but 'Once Born-again, Always Saved'.* If we look at the Parable of the Soils/Sower, told in Matthew, Mark and Luke (Mt 13, Mk. 4, Lk. 8).
    Jesus states of the meaning for the four soils:
    *The Sower and the Seed* - “The sower sows the word. The seed is the word of God."
    *1) The Side of the Road* - "Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved."
    *2) The Rocky Soil* - "These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble."
    *3) The Thorny Soil* - Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
    *4) THE GOOD SOIL* - "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, understand it, accept it, keep it and bear fruit with patience."
    Therefore:
    1) The Side of the Road - These are the people that hear the word, scoff and turn away immediately. (John 12:47, John 8:47, Jeremiah 6:10)
    2) The Rocky Soil - These are the people that say they believe the gospel but soon as things get tough, that turn away, when people make fun of their new found Christian beliefs, or something bad in their life happens, they denounce Christ. (Proverbs 24:10 & 16, Matthew 7:26-27, John 12:48, Matthew 10:33)
    3) The Thorny Soil - These are the people that love all the worldly things, do the bare minimum, would rather keep living sinful lives, and want to hear 'Once Saved, Always Saved' preaching (cause its reassuring to them), therefore do not produce good works (fruits) for God.     4) THE GOOD SOIL - Now these are the ones who have the Holy Spirit, the ones God had foreseen that would love him, the "truly born-again, always saved" believers of Yahoshua Ha'Mashiach/Jesus Christ of Nazareth and therefore provide good fruit for the glory of God. (2 Timothy 3:10-16, Romans, 10:9-10, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13-14 1 Peter 1:23, John 14:15, Galatians 5:22-23, Colossians 1:10)
    So the real question isn't: 'Is it, Once Saved, Always Saved or...?'
    But "What Type of Soil Am I?" (2 Corinthians 13:5, Galatians 1:10)
    And remember there is ALWAYS an open invitation to salvation. To be saved and to live like Christ. (Romans 11:17-23, Hebrews 6:4-6, Colossians 3:5-10, Ephesians 4:1-6, 1 John 2)
    Cause its not WWJD, its Do As Jesus Did! (1 John 2:6)
    "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.       As far as the predestination goes, God is Omnipresent so he knows who, in their heart, will love Him, given the choice to do so, or not. Still maybe that was the wrong word choice, instead I should maybe have said, 'Pre-seen as accepting' or 'Those He foresaw choosing Him'. Everyone is given free will, so for those He knows will not chose to turn to Him, he mourns for them and is still wanting that they would chose differently. (Romans 8:28-30, Ephesians 1:3-6, Numbers 14:11, Proverbs 1:20-33, Luke 10:16, Psalms 107, John 3:17-18, Hebrews 6:13-20, 1 John 4)
      "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.       JMess84 On what grounds are you claiming that 75% of the grounds are unsaved? Does the word fail 50% of the time? It's clear the hard path is not saved, but not so fast on the other grounds. If the other grounds (stony and weedy) are not born again, and the main difference is works, then is that not works based salvation? What is the symbol for the Holy Spirit in your explanation? That seem to added to the meaning of the text.
      The fruit has seeds and the word is not coming out of 50% of the believers. They are not fruitful and multiplying.

      God is the one who does the work in us to respond to his calling! Romans 8:7 - The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God, it doesn’t submit to Gods law, nor can it do so.
      Unless God pours out his spirit in you and gives you a new heart, which in terms means to be born again, you won’t persevere to the end.
      1 Corinthians 1:8 - He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the of our Lord Jesus Christ.

      Indeed yes, it’s true; but only “...do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh”(Galatians5:13 NIV). And as we have been reminded in the epistles, as we are the temple of God “...and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”(1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

    the Lord guides every honest repented heart into his truth. the topic of salvation is very clear in the Bible,it is people who love sin and this world more than God that are confused or decieved.

      Precious Akande having true faith is a work so yes. I wake up every morning and I can chose to sin or put my trust in God. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. I can lose salvation at any moment when I chose to turn away from God.

      well that is exactly the point.. A regenerate person will show the fruit of salvation which is an ever increasing life of holiness. If you live a life of carefree sin post regeneration it means you were never saved to begin with. If you believe you can lose your salvation after you have been regenerated, than you just simply do not understand the doctrine of regeneration or the many verses that speak to the contrary. I could list a few if you would like?

      haha, do you know that sanctification is not just about growing to be like Christ but is about being placed in Christ and made Holy? it is a finished work. Did you also know that Christ says in John 6:37-39 that Jesus will take all the father gives him and that he will LOSE NONE OF THEM! We cannot lose our salvation because Jesus ensures it. Once you have been born again, made alive and substituted by Christ, you cannot go back. The problem is that you think the Verb "belief" is possible apart from Christs work. You believe because God has regenerated you and made it possible for you to do so. You can no more lose your salvation, than you can crawl back into your mothers womb after birth. Who taught you such terrible theology?
