Why did they rate the unlucky Chef scenario as hard? // Sims 4 scenarios

- How unlucky can 1 sim be? Well today we are finding out the answer to that question!
In today’s video I am going to be playing through the unlucky chef scenario to find out how difficult it is.
Unlucky chef is one of the few scenarios that has a hard rating, however after playing through it, I was genuinely confused as to why it was rated that way!
This scenario was not challenging, it was just time consuming!
Have you played through the unlucky chef scenario yet? What do you think? I’dd love to know in the comments!

I think James Turner did this and found it reasonably easy too: he's finding the variations on the No Skills, No Problems Challenge a lot harder.
i’m currently doing this challenge and it’s so hard 😅
15:17 omg yes, i wish they would add like, a health category instead, which includes diet preferences and honestly, i wouldn’t mind stuff like heart and lung problems, too. they introduced the whole pollution thing in eco lifestyle, after all, like wouldn’t they get asthma or smth from that? there’s also the fitness skill… what if we had to maintain those? then the health stuff would be more in-depth, and skills decaying over time also makes sense. with the options to opt-out, of course. i understand that not everyone enjoys more realistic gameplay.
There is the Health Nut lifestyle,I had a sim have that and she got tense when she ate junk food. It also unlocked new recipes.
Yeah and sometimes your sims do get a littler bigger if they haven’t done fitness for awhile
use apeeindigos healthcare overhaul mod if you're looking for more realistic gameplay!
I've been wanting the hearing aids to actually have a function??? Like you can modify them in busy areas + stuff
“We started eating like children” - I interpreted that very differently than what she meant
same and im british lol
Came here to make sure I wasn't the only one who heard this😂
You should def invest in a handiness skill lol. Also I love how she gained weight over time from just cooking, drinking, eating and sleeping. She still looked amazing.
I don't know if I would have even noticed this without you saying something but I LOVE the fact that this happened! (Gotta love watching on mobile, the tiny picture 😂) I feel like that is an awesome realistic factor in the game and that makes me happy❤
I haven't seen anyone play the "Super Rich SuperVillain" scenario. I feel like you'd come up with a fun character and story for it :)
Deligracy currently is 😊
I played it. I like it.
Like Tony stark but evil
This house is so cute!! You have a great eye for color schemes. I’d like to see at least one build video from you :)
She really does have a "great eye for color schemes" because I try to make my sims homes colorful like this and it never turns out well 😂
Same! I always love her builds and would love to see her process
I love this lot
✌️🌻💙
yes agreed!! would love that ^^
Her oldest videos on here are speed builds
I've been playing this scenario for 4 days real time, and it's not easy but I'm loving it! She has her 3rd baby on the way, and she finally got married to her guy, on their honeymooners now🥰
I have 3 toddlers with this challenge, as well as a baby and another on the way!
@@superoriginalname2851 damn!! One big happy fam 😁
"Outdoor bars are more fun"
I would say that the mosquitos agree entirely.
If you don't have a stove, there can be no fires. I waited until my Sim was cooking level 10 and almost to the top of the culinary career before buying a stove. I bought the best stove for them, and they still started a fire the first time they cooked. Apparently, the cooking level, career level and item levels do not matter.
i played this scenario with a foodie sim, the stove from cool kitchen, and the chefs kitchen lot trait. a single fire was never started lmfao it was way too easy
That's crazy! I gave my sim the most expensive one thinking it would make a difference but it didn't!
Before we even got the this scenario every new save I have my sim make salads to build the cooking skill because they couldn't be trusted to use a stove without starting a fire. When this scenario was released I survived on salads and fancy yogurts. It's really not that difficult.
Love seeing your builds with the "Decor to the Max" kit. I love how they turn out and I love your build style.
your vibe is awesome. your commentary is the perfect balance of humor, real life and cussing. and will now play in my head whenever I play sims.
I found that, by buying a more expensive stove and upgrading it, I was able to get away with only ever having 2 fires for the entire scenario. My guess is that, since the lower quality stove is more likely to start a fire, adding the increased fire likelihood causes more fires on the lower quality stoves and less on the higher quality ones.
the two wine glasses in both hands really resonated with me.
I tried the chef route of this scenario annnd my sims couldn’t cook anything on anything. Even when I made a club and had a member use the grill, there was a fire. So I opted for ordering food and just going the mixology route instead.
I actually found it really difficult. She started fires about 50% of the time and I kept her on the chef path.
By the end I think it said she'd cooked 62 meals and started 33 fires. (It was more or less this I don't remember the exact numbers). It took me around 70 sim days I think.
And that's not because I wasn't trying I was having her cook during most of her free time. But since she's the start of a legacy challenge I also had her make friends, go on dates and raise kids. And as well as completing the career I also completed the culinary aspiration.
Things I actively did to make it harder:
I had her be clumsy idk if that affected it.
I didn't have her cook salads generally (she only made a couple) and I didn't have her gain any skill from reading the skill book.
I didn't tell her to put out the fires or extinguish herself (aside from very early on) and relief on the firefighters, her husband and her own autonomy. Possibly a mistake as she did die one time but I reloaded the save.
I didn't get her any reward traits to help her gain skills or get promotions. Instead I spent them on ones to help her needs. (The first option felt a bit cheaty and it's not like I got her reward traits like the never needing to sleep one)
I have the talents and weaknesses mod and she had a weakness for cooking (ironic but it meant her skill gain was slower).
By the end she was constantly terrible on needs and in a bad mood because she had twins who were toddlers and I also had her adopt the toddler of her best friend who was a single parent and died cos neighborhood stories. So three toddlers rip. So her career gain took longer because of bad mood and low needs.
Oh and I'm playing the I'm surrounded by idiots challenge so I could only control the heir so her. (So it's a challenge where you can only control your heir and you just have to leave their spouse and kids to their own devices until the next heir ages up to young adult).
Overall I think this scenario is hard if you play it as its intended. By having your sim use the cooker to cook a lot. I just feel like with scenarios RUclipsrs generally try and cheat the system to do it as quickly as possible, but it would be more enjoyable if you played it in a more story driven and realistic way.
This scenario actually reignited my love for the Sims. I loved how often she started fires. I loved her friendship with the firefighters. I loved that she was living in a flat and her neighbours were always over asking after her cooking.
So yeah as much as scenarios aren't the best (I have a whole host of issues with them), I genuinely enjoyed this one.
Loooooong comment😂
the itch in my brain that remained unscratched every time you wouldn't replace the scorched stove hood
Haha, I knew it would annoy someone!
I actually really like Scenarios. When you don‘t rush through it and implement it in your normal gameplay with side task like finding love and raising children it is really good, since it gives your Sims life a bit more sense. I will definitely try this scenario out. Another one I saw and would be interest in is the „No skills, no problems“ scenario.
The alien scenario sounds fun 🤩 ✨
(Since you asked for scenario ideas ✨)
@@memyaccount8213 yeah
"Extinguish the fire, you fking spanner!" is my new favourite line of yours 🤣🤣 I hope you use such British phrases around your Texan friends, I'd love to know what their reactions to them were lol
Just a lil tip: vol 1 books work when your skill is level 1-3, vol 2 level 3-6, and vol 3 is 6-9. If you read the wrong vol your sim will either get bored or say it’s too advanced(either way they’re not gonna gain any skill). Also you can’t reach level 10 skill with books!
I kept waiting for you to replace the stove hood, but you never did! lol🤣
I love your channel! 😍
I've been binge watching your videos! 👍💕
Potential way to save time and money from fires: Make a Spellcastor and learn Scruberoo and Repario to instantly fix messes made by the fires.
I did that! It works well, actually!
Doesn't the air vacuum thingy from eco lifestyle also helps with cleaning /repairing burnt stuff?
@@EmKatSam Yes, but you have to level to a certain point in the career in order to get it without cheats.
@@YourNeighborhoodWitch That's true... But if you use the scenario in a household that may have done that career or have inherited it or got it as a gift from a parent that did that career? :) It feels a bit cheaty, though.
@@EmKatSam Completely fair! It just took a while for me to realize it was locked behind a career for a long time and I wasn't sure if other people knew, either. :)
I don't know if I would call it cheaty-- especially since you could just marry someone in the career and have them fix the items once they burn.
I have been slowly doing this scenario... and I've learned that if you remove the range (stove/oven) entirely and proceed to open the cooking menu, you can see all the things you can cook without the range, like BLTs.
I really like her house. And also as someone who is pretty sick right now, you are nice to listen to; you are not grating, or loud, maybe a bit sweary, but pretty insightful.
"Why are you standing there?" Ahh, the quintessential Sims 4 experience.
Love your commentary and all of your videos! I think you'd make an amazing "Villainous Valentine" aspiration video. It's all about breaking up couples and drama. I think you'd have fun with it!
I've actually been thinking about doing that aspiration lately!
I would LOVE if they added some kind of "liked/disliked foods" menu. And then when they eat the food they hate, they can get sick and have a little moodlet that says something like "Whether due to allergy or just plain disgust, [Sim] HATES being forced to eat [Food]."
This seams to go for fruitcake and foodies. They do have a favorite drink though. But yeah, why not add a category for foods and drinks.
Hi brit I usually don't comment on any video tbh but i just want to really appreciate your channel your by far the most entertaining sims player I've ever watched, thank you so much for making me laugh and sleep peacefully your content is amazing and it doesn't fail to make me smile ❤
If you use the Study Spot lot trait, your Sims will gain skill faster from reading. It works really well. I think that lot trait came with Discover University if I'm not mistaken.
I always love watching your videos for your quick whit and humor but daaaaamn you can build, your builds are always so pretty and colorful. Thank you for your fun and tense/drama free vids. They are a bright spot in my day.
Omg, I feel like Whiny Brit is so underrated! I enjoy her video’s a lot, subbed of course. I wish all of you a beautiful day, and I hope you get millions of subscribers! ♥️♥️♥️

I saw someone else mention the alien scenario, and occults are always fun!
Hello girllll!!❤ since you read all the comments, I’m a dialysis patient, I’m 19, and when I’m in dislysis it’s 4 hours 3 days a week sitting on a bed bored out my mind, and there was nothing to do 1 day, so I went on RUclips and thought I’m gonna watch sims, so I found your video. And you gave me funny vibes, and it’s not like other game people, who constantly stop the game to chat shit, so I also watch you at home most the time I was your videos 😅😅 your funny, and you play the games, and make it problematic I love it, I like the cheating ones 🤣🤣 and having babies without partner knowing about the cheating it’s whet amusing ❤❤
Or maybe some build video's because I love how you build and decorate your houses they are all so cosy and I love especialy your builds with lot's of colours. Very often your builds and sims are already made when you start your video's.... but I would def. love to watch how you make them. 💞💞💞
One thing I would recommend to help with this scenario is getting the Naturalist Reward Trait. It won't prevent starting fires, but it does make your Sim fireproof so they won't die by fire, and they can put out fires faster, possibly preventing the appliances from being destroyed, saving money. The Sim can live on garden salads, which don't require the use of the stove, until the Trait is earned.
Easiest way (but also very long) to do this scenario for the harder ending pick any cooking aspiration then switch to freelance botanist this is because the reward trait for finishing this aspiration is naturalist and these sims do not fear fire and have harder time burning up in it this would be useful for a sim that constantly makes fires
I literally got a mod that prevents the welcome wagon lol. I love this video! This is probably an impossible video idea, but have you ever thought about making a video on your favorite CC? I love how your sims look. And how your homes come out. I literally can't get colors and accent walls right!! Anyway, tomorrow is wedding day!!!! 👰🏽💍🧑🏻💼
Congratulations! Best of luck for tomorrow :)
I would love to see how you create your sims. I love your style.
If my Sims cared about being repetitive it would have been hard. But when they don’t care about eating fruit and garden salads every single day, it suddenly makes no difference that she can’t use a stove. You earn just as much skill and the career bar doesn’t care.
Yep. Simple. I commented to that effect when James Turner tried this and people blew up at me for ‘cheesing’ it. I was like, “How is it cheesing if it’s built into the game and there are no negative effects for doing it?” It’s just common sense! In fact, I tried the ‘Every Lot Challenge’ challenge and did pretty much the same thing to get around the Cursed lot challenge- as long as you have some fruit in your inventory (for the Simple Living challenge) you can make unlimited fruit salad so it becomes really easy!
@@HerHollyness Exactly! They could have made it so you were “accident prone” where the sim cuts their fingers badly and gets a negative mood buff and can’t cook again for a while, like when they hurt themselves exercising. That way you can’t just make salads or parfaits for every meal.
My bf doesn't play sims but he loves listening to you, he asks me to play your vids sometimes while he's practically falling asleep. I guess you calm him he says he loves your voice overs. You make me laugh.😊
Welcome to My Drunk Kitchen: Sim Edition
So sweet that you give your sims nicknames and tell them to have a good day at work!
Hello watching the cooking channel on Tv also add to the skill. Honestly I love that you Curse in the video, love her pink hair thanks for
Being entertaining!
I use the More Traits in CAS mod by thepancake1 and MizoreYukii so sims can have 5 traits but before then I never really used the Vegetarian Trait. It doesn't force you to fill every slot which is nice too.
Saw someone comment their country so I’m from Mongolia & I rly enjoy ur content & I’ve binge watched everything twice 😭. Anyway I’d love to see u just have every chaotic mod enabled and see what happens
oh wow! Thank you :)
Hey ! You mentioned in the video, you'd like for vegetarian to be a thing you can turn on and off, I have in my game a mod for that ! I can't remember who made it but i'm sure you'll be able to find it on youtube, tumblr or google ! It's so so so useful ! Changes everything x
Big fan of your videos and im so happy with your upload schedule! I saw in your recreation of a day in your life that you still work full time in an office job and wanted to commend you on uploading this frequently with videos so well put together and thought out this often while also having a full time day job.
I was wondering if you could maybe link some of your current CC items in the videos you upload in the description so we could find the items easier! I love a lot of the items you use in CAS and Build mode. Or if you could do update videos on the latest CC content youve downloaded. You have such a great taste, and id really trust what you pick out and from who! Even if it requires certain patreons and having to donate to them to get the items, itd be nice to have your feedback and direction of who to choose. Your builds and how you decorate and fill the rooms are so colorful and full i just cant even imagine where to begin. Sims 2 was my OG and still is in addition to Sims 4, so CC is still something i havent quite figured out or messed with or know who and what sites to trust. Thank you!
Have you ever been to The Sims Resource? Check out the FEATURED artists first, their work has usually been vetted pretty well by the community.
Thank you! Although I did leave that job a little while ago so it's just RUclips now, I don't think I could upload this much whilst working full time! I have been thinking about doing a cc video, it's just going to be very time consuming as I'd have to go back and find the links to all the pieces I have. I might do something like this in the future though.
NO WAY MY BROTHER LITERALLY EALKED IN AS AOON AS HOU SAID “You like that” he gave me a gross look on his face.
That house is super pretty. I agreed with you on the decor to the max kit, and so I gotta emphasize how well you used it as well. Plus, I think it looks really good in Tartosa.
Haha. This scenario is by far the funniest I've seen anyone do. I love that house. You mind sharing where you got those cabinets? And the Table and chairs? They are so pretty. I think you should do the Villain one!
I appreciate these playthroughs SO much bc for whatever reason, Sims 4 is basically unplayable for me.
i’m in love with your building style
Gwen learned to cook from Margaret Thatcher has me keeling over with laughter!
There is (was? I feel like it may be getting rebuilt or something?) a mod that makes it so that you can add "vegetarian" as a toggle-able trait in game, so it doesn't waste a trait slot. I mean. I've never eaten meat, and even I wouldn't list "being a vegetarian" as a personality trait of mine if I had to boil it down to just three!
This was like the second hardest one. The ovens constantly starting on fire was ridiculous. The Frogs one is the only one I couldn’t get through, that was impossible
I really love how you build your sims faces in CAS. The girls are all so beautiful. Could you perhaps make a video about that??? ( I know you already made one about the hairs/clothes/skinoverlays/eyelashe etc) But I also love the symmatrie of their faces and their eyes/lips/nose. Do you have some special tips for us ore can we maybe download your sims somewhere in the gallery??) Your (house) build is also beautiful again, love it !!! All those beautiful colors that you use 💗💗💗✨✨ I could watch your video's for hours without getting bored. You're def. my favorite sims-youtuber!!!! And I absolutely love your commentary and your voice and accent are indeed very pleasant to listen to. Keep up the good work!!!
It took me 29 days too, and once the scenario was over my sim no longer set stoves on fire which I was kinda disappointed by but also relieved. I don't think it matters how fast your sim levels up in skill, it's all about how long it takes to go up the career levels so like you said, it's not hard, just tedious.
Well ... if you still want fires there is still the cursed lot challenge.
@@kaylab5987 Oh I hadn't thought of that!
Something I've realized is that the Gardening aspiration protects your sim from fire, so possibly maxing out the gardening aspiration on the side could help just a little with fires?
A way to make this challenge easier is make a witch sim and use that, get the repairio skill so you don't have to keep paying to replace the stove. I might try that later myself.
Totally didn't think of that.👍
ooh that's a good tip, I can barely remember the spellcaster spells, I haven't played as a spell caster in a long time!
A tip for being a crap cook, invest in a slow cooker. Put whatever you plan to make in it, along with 1/3 cup of broth, on low before you leave for work.
About 8 hours later, supper is cooked and tender.
I got SO BORED during this challenge that I had an affair with Eliza Pancakes after befriending Bob to gain his trust, became a serial cheater, and arsonist. The career fell to the wayside
man, I love your voice overs. it really gives your sims character!
Super rich super villian is fun and combine it with villianous valentine aspiration for more fun.
I know this is an old video but I felt the need. I did this challenge really fast simply by not buying a stove. There are lots of recipes that don't require one and you can use a grill, just not a stove. If there is not a stove on the lot then the recipes requiring one are greyed out. I let her make whatever she wanted, just no stove on the lot. Being as she liked cooking, I didn't even have to tell her to cook, she would cook instead of having a quick meal on her own.
You always make me laugh. Love watching your videos ♡
Robin has a mod where you can make a sim a vegetarian and/or lactose intolerant from the pie menu without taking a trait slot iirc
It's called 'Vegetarian and Lactose Intolerant overhaul'
Video idea!!!! What about some sort of Kitchen Nightmares type let's play or short series. Getting to level 10 of the cooking skill so you are able to mentor, and go around mentoring people or maybe running a successful restaurant. I just find it hilarious watching you go around berating your sims, why not do it with a Gordon Ramsey twist? Idiot sandwich anyone?
I love your intros. They’re perfectly simple and subtly funny
Unlucky chef must mean closet pyro really. She should have started a career in firework making!
One of my sims is always starting a fire when he cooks on a stove. Completely fine with grilling though.
I didn’t pick any trait or scenario. It’s just keeps happening on its own 😂
So now his boyfriend is the only one who is allowed to use the stove.
The commentary on these videos is hilarious. I feel as though you should be on radio/tv
The only thing that bothered me about this whole video is that the fan above the stove was never replaced LOL!
That’s funny you shared that memory of your Grandad. Mine was the same way. My Nana did everything for him, so after she passed he was kinda helpless.
21:40 me getting distracted midway through my task and then instantly going back to it
It's barely a challenge when you just don't use stoves or grills, but that would be more in the speedrun territory rather than just seeing how it goes.
This is why I did this scenario with a spellcaster chef. When you inevitably set a fire, tou get a small insurance payout to put toward a new stove...but Repairio fixes your stove for free. So every kitchen fire turns into a profit-making opportunity!
And once you become a sufficiently maxed out spellcaster, any time you need a quick infusion of cash, you can destroy something (by casting Inferniate or Zipzap), get a payout, and then fix it with Repairio.
Insurance fraud, Sims-style. 😉
Could you do the millionaire scenario, without marrying someone for money?? I would like to see how you make your million. Lol
This scenario would be good alongside regular gameplay- I would play with it like as if it were a lifetime aspiration from the sims 3.
I did this in a tiny home, with portable furniture where I could. I got top skill for cooking and gourmet cooking in two Sim days, did the dinner party with the Sims that had originally showed up for my Welcome Wagon, and have stopped (for now). I am on Day 3 and have already made level 2 of Master Chef. I didn't start any fires, either. And I did more than salads (I know many of the non-stove recipes for higher levels).
I agree, having to know all the recipes would make this far more difficult and interesting.
I will get back to it soon, but I'm setting up twenty-nine save files with different challenges/ scenarios for each save file. Have three more to set up (Movin' On Up Challenge, Animal Crossing Challenge, and Royal Legacy). Then, i will play the challenge or scenario I feel each day without having to set things up.
Yeah I’d like faster promotions too. I’m trying to get Johnny Zest to the top of the comedy career so he can (via cheats of course) rejoin the Landgraab family after proving he could make it, and it’s taking forever.
"As long as I don't get a pop-up-"
Sims 4: Piss off.
Fun fact: this video was in my birthday month!!
I took the easy way with this. I deleted the oven in my chef's apartment and he could only "cook" things like salads and sushi, no fires.
"We end up eating, like, children." Wait, what? "Like chicken nuggets etc." Ah. No commas in that sentence then!
I have noticed that pretty much all Sims are just obsessed with tending bar. Any time I've had a bar in the house they're constantly going to play with it. I've taken to only placing them for events unless I specifically want them to be a mixologist.
The part of the video where your sim got that call, "you've been chosen, they'll come soon.." or whatever, do you have like a mod installed to have gotten that call? Like maybe that mod that involves kidnapping or whatever lol (which I do not yet have) let me know if you see this comment, cuz that was mysterious and I want my sim to get that call to see what happens and add drama into gameplay. Thanks! Love watching your videos! ❣️-Ariana
I literally love you and your swearing 🥰🤣
I started this scenario but then got annoyed with them constantly starting a fire (& my sim died twice so I had to go back from the last save) so I went on to another scenario lol I just don’t have the patience to deal with it sometimes 😂 but guess that means it’ll just take me longer to finish it!
Btw: I gave my sim the same traits! 😆
Dietary requirements being something other than a trait +1
This scenario is ridiculous 🙄 it's hardly any harder than becoming a celebrity chef regularly
Even level 10 cooking and the best ovens are set on fire due to misfortune.
14:24 my older sister walked past my door and loudly knocked, I don’t know if it was related but I blame you 😂
Hope Gordon Ramsay doesn’t take a visit while you are cooking Beef Wellington
5:20 Is this an actual question with your Sims, lol, I love your videos BTW. :)
Maybe your Sims goes to the bars and stuff on her own, so that you don't have to tell her to go to the bars and stuff like that, lol.
You did it and by choosing Chef over mixology you even did it on 'hard difficulty.' I agreed with the repetiveness in this challenge. I hope you'll try the criminal career challenge next.
I usually start cooking salads because it's rather tricky to burn a salad
im not a good cook either, for the past couple months i've been trying a home cooking delivery system and ive loved how many different ways of cooking it has introduced to me! it makes cooking not seem so bad
You forgot "and end up in ditches" Part from the "snitches get stitches" quote.
You def turn into an alchy when working in a kitchen! The stress is crazy!
Alternatively I'd Ike to see a skills/job scenario, but going through university first, mimicking a more realistic or generic time-line.
