There have been a lot of excellent SummerSlam events over the years. The WWF / WWE like to call the show "The Biggest Party of the Summer" and with the amount of great parties the company has thrown over the years it can be tricky to pick just 1 as the all-time best. Wrestling Bios viewers were tasked with selecting their favourite SummerSlam event of all time to determine which party of the Summer was the greatest, and this video looks at the final results.
Summerslam events that made the cut include SummerSlam 1997 "Hart & Soul" where Bret Hart took on The Undertaker in the main event, Brock Lesnar's tractor and destruction of the ring was enough to give SummerSlam 2022 a place in today's video, the historic Wembley Stadium show from 1992 got ranked pretty high by viewers, and SummerSlam 2000 featuring Steve Blackman vs Shane McMahon and a Rock vs Kurt Angle vs Triple H main event also made it in the top 10.
Thank you to everyone that voted!

I love how diverse you are making the topics .
Think you could do an episode based on the ' Manager' aspect of wrestling prior to the Attitude era?
People like Master Fuji, Sherri, Heenan, Cornette, .. Just to name a few of the better ones, but there are also some lesser named ones like Slick, Harvey Finkleman,Sapphire , Lou Albano , just to name a few there also.
Thank you for these as they always give me insight into the shows I remember watching back then and the revelations made between Teenage Me and Adult Me.

I love that '92 ended with an IC title match. It was also remarkable that there was a "heel vs. heel" match and two "face vs. face" matches on the same card. It really felt like a shift in booking because those were the kind of matches that WWF usually avoided as they didn't want to split the audience over who to cheer and who to boo, so it was rather remarkable to have so many of those matches.

When people at the time were calling Michaels one of the GOATs I didn't get it. In my brain he was still the tag team guy.
But at about two minutes in to his return match with HHH, I was like "OH NOW I GET IT! “ By the time he did the loading up his boot stomp I was eating it up. Absolutely spectacular match.

2002 - Return of HBK and the first and only Rock vs. Brock - all the matches are actually good!
2013 - CM Punk vs. Brock and Daniel Bryan vs. Cena (w/ the HHH heel turn and Orton MITB cash in)
1997 - HHH vs. Mankind and Taker vs. Bret - also it's an essential watch for understanding the origins of the Attitude Era (and Stone Cold's rise/fall)
Also 2005 was underrated: Hogan vs. HBK (despite the foolishness)/Edge vs. Matt Hardy/Eddie vs. Rey/ Cena's and Batista's dominance.

I love Summerslam 2000. Definitely was my favorite. Everything on the card just worked for me. And my most memorable Steve Muthafuggin' Blackman moment with that fall off the entrance.
The only downside I have to it, and really the only one, is kind of its legacy. TLC made a lot of of sense. The Hardy Boyz were doing ladder matches and attacks up to it. Edge and Christian where doing the "Conchairtos" and Pilmanizing people with chairs up to it. And the Dudleys were getting tables. With the heated up feud, it made 100% sense as a match type.
And every TLC I've seen after that basically has no build up and was just "... well people like TLC matches...". To the point where we have a PPV named after it, forcing the content with no context.
Also a great E&C promo the day after on RAW with the midgets breaking out the pre-schooler toy furniture.

Summerslam 2005 not being here is somewhat shocking to me. I loved that show as a kid even with the absurdity of the matches

20:35 as soon as the summer of 2002 hit, the year became one of WWE's best in terms of in-ring work. The 2002 version of Summerslam and Survivor Series are some of the greatest editions

I lived in a new city (Montreal) in 2002, and I pondered for a week, until literally the last hour on whether or not I would take public transportation to a movie theatre to watch SummerSlam 2002. Then I finally decided "Shawn Michaels is returning. I AM GOING". Dear god, I am glad I did. One of my favorite shows EVER!

My favourite claim(s) from SummerSlam 92 that I didn't have any need to question as a 9 year old was Virgil being a close personal friend of Big BossMan. Furthering this during Virgil's match with Nailz with McMahon saying Virgil was a great street fighter after again mentioning his friendship with Big BossMan. A crooked nasty white southern cop from the late 80's who had a close personal friendship with an African-American street fighter from the same period. 😂😂😂

Summerslam 2000 is definitely in my top 5 if not top 3. 1997 is only good to me for the hart taker match tho so it wouldn’t be in mine. 2000, 2002, 2003, 2001, 98, 91 are definitely all some of my favorites modern times 2022 was good and the one with Daniel Bryan vs Cena. I typically forget a lot of modern Summerslams

I think one big difference between polling viewers vs. cagematch is that your poll is ranking them or at least ranking them by how many people voted for a particular Summer Slam while actively deciding which one is best. Cage Match is more people giving their thought about each individual event. So maybe you think 2000's show was great and give it 5 stars. And maybe you also think the 2001 event was fantastic and give it 5 stars. Same ranking. But if you say "which was better 2000 or 2001" you'll get a different result. Basically, asking people "which one is best" gives better results than "rate this specific show and tally up the results for each year"

Summerslam 2001 was my favorite. I had it on DVD and watched it on replay, even after i got the WWE network, i watched it again and again. They just dont do matches like that anymore. RVD vs Jeff Hardy was awesome. 2 ladder match specialists putting on a great match for a hardcore title that mainly was a gimmick title. Those 2 guys definitely made the hardcore title more meaningful.

Warrior/Savage was a great match; it's the ending that undermines it. But I agree overall, 92 has a lot of "dead spots" in terms of wrestling quality.
