- Installation of a Borla Catback Exhaust on a 2015 Volkswagen GTI MK7. We removed the stock exhaust, installed the Borla and then demonstrated the before and after cold start sounds. The process took us 2 hours to complete and the results are amazing.
There aren't many such videos out there on RUclips, so I hope this one will help folks thinking about upgrading their exhaust system on their VW GTIs.
Special shout-out to WhanAB Innovative Auto Design Parts for giving my friend David great pricing on the Borla. Make sure you contact them for all your VW, Audi part needs. Search for them on Facebook or Messenger:

Thanks for putting music in the background while trying to hear the exhaust.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
How is the drone at 60-70+ mph on the highway? I've been debating on buying this. Also, is this the 2.5 inch or the 3?
There is considerable drone so not recommended for long trips and commute. It’s the 3” cat back
@@GarageBuds Ah ok thanks for the reply, I've been close to buying this for a while now. The problem is that I have an hour commute both ways to work, and if there's any drone it would drive me nuts. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about the drone, some say it's there, some say it isn't, makes me hesitant but I tend to believe your insight.
@@flopkin I have same on my TT and I wouldn't go back to stock. I love the sound of that thing
@@flopkin I've had the Borla S-Type Catback installed on my MK7 GTI for 2.5 years now. It's a DSG, but I drive it in manual mode exclusively and tend to rev mainly in the 2500-4500 range. The Borla's a beautiful upgrade in sound, and the DSG burps are pronounced. To me, there's ZERO drone when at higher cruising speeds, honestly. Not sure why the GarageBuds would be experiencing it. Mine's stock otherwise, and I've done plenty of highway trips. No drone at all. Again, I never drive it in Drive or Sport, only manual, so I'd surely hear it (auto modes downshift at lower revs for efficiency, of course). Your mileage may vary, but reviews I read before purchasing it all said no drone at all, and it's been the same for me.
@@31Nigel That's awesome to hear thank you
Does your exhaust make a high pitched whistle or jet engine noise under heavy throttle? I’m looking to grab one but don’t want the high pitched noise any recommendations?
I don't have high pitch noise...it's very baritone tone
@@GarageBuds outside is there a jet engine noise while wide open throttle past 5k rpm or not ?????
@@GarageBuds I’m about to purchase a 3inch version and wanted to know since many brought it to my attention!
not at all.... a deep rumble
Must get hat... need 5 more hp! 😂 Well done Garage Buds!
Real Ridez thanks buddy
Keep up the great videos mate!
thanks!
I am living Morrisville can you inform me about shop for exhaust installation
Let me check. I did mine myself. What car do you own?
@@GarageBuds same car mk7 gti
We're the oem rubber holders perfect fitting for borlas hanger?
Yes! they fit perfectly
Are you running stock downpipe in this video?
Yes he is you can see it in the video
Yes, stock DP
How does it sound in the car?
It sounds great. Didn't add any annoying drum sound in the cabin
Lol mechanic is like "be a hell of a lot easier if I didn't have this extra arm and camera in my wrench space"
You are awesome guys
hussain zada thanks man!
I’m getting a weird screech on full throttle. Any recommendations?
Not sure what that could be other than some vibration. Have you checked car from below? Make sure holding rubber harnesses are properly in place to dampen any vibration
I know you probably wont see this, but can you send me the link to this exhaust? lol

No point in buying borla unless you are also buying a resonator to weld onto it. At that point you could have just purchased a different exhaust that already has the steps taken to prevent a droney exhaust.
Screwdriver for the hangers!!!
we love a good challenge
Music really sucks. Its very irritating.
