There's a great bit by Norm Macdonald about giving lotto tix as a gift and how it's the worst possible gift. Here's your present...nothing. Or even worse, they win some enormous windfall and your life is filled with regret from that day forward lol
I give around $10-$20 in scratchoffs (never play myself unless likewise gifted). Less impersonal than cash, thought that counts, while total if any bonus for recipient.
@snerdterguson I go to one bank, I get a $25 box of pennies, search it for errors or pennies that are in perfect condition, if I only find 5 in a box, I replace that 5 cents with 5 cents from my pocket, take the rest of the box to bank 2, cash them in and go back to bank 1 and get another box. Some pennies get sold anywhere from $250 to $40,000 depending on what you find. And you just keep recycling the pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc. If you never thought pocket coins could be worth so much, just look up the words MONDAY MARKET REPORT on youtube and watch one of those videos. Ill bet you may consider doing coins as well. Hahahahaa
Better off opening Robinhood account. Even start with $1. Nike stock if want to still invest in sports. VUG fund (growth stocks) if younger. Dollar cost average for intermediate or long term.
I've done some extensive study on scratch-offs. The best ones will return 80-85%. That is after accounting for all outstanding tickets. Typically, that means like 60% of all tickets have been sold, but only, for example, 1 in 5 top prizes have been claimed. The worse returns are around 50%. This is true for at least TX/CT
Well, if we learned anything from this video, it is that no one should buy lottery tickets or boxes, because you will 80% of the time never get your money back. This was a great example because you never received your money back once in this video.
Jabs as a PA resident I know for a fact that a book of tix is expected to have around 30% return. So you hit big that means how many books have less then 30% Also every tix is a winner....either you win or the state wins
One Christmas I was getting off work at 6am and heading home and realized I didn't get my wife any stocking stuffers. I stopped by a gas station and bought her favorite candy and $50 in various $5 and $10 tickets. She hit a $500 ticket. Made our Christmas a little nicer that year.
On most scratch offs, if it's a winner it will spell out the amount with single letters through our the ticket speed out, like a $10 winner would a (t) (e) (n) through our the Numbers somewhere
Loved this lottery ticket/baseball card vid for a nice change-up(like the baseball pun? lol)! Your scratching technique is obviously that of a rookie (lol!), but it did get progressively better as you went through all the ticks! Practice makes perfect!
Face value on “winning”lottery tickets is guaranteed with sports cards you are lucky if you get half value on a single card..and if you can even sell it!
$160 in lottery scratchoffs just to be totally skunked. I see a lot in the store (including past coworkers spending much of paycheck) scratching away for the windfall that will never arrive. SMH for sure.
Hey Jabs, I stopped by a gas station (Circle K/Stripes), and they had 2 packs left of 2024 Topps. I bought 1 pack and got the Elly rookie card! What luck.
You are 100% correct about scratchers, they're a losing proposition. But I'll bet the state lottery board won't be a fan of this video, lol. Keep up the good work!
Gonzo is doing Great, plus he’s a GREAT DUDE. He treated my son great a Piratefest. He was at the rail signing just after the rain 6/6. He’s just a solid solid dude. Plus Livvy is going to find him a friend of hers for that mustache.
When I turned 50, my employer had $50 worth of scratch off lottery tickets inside the birthday card. One ticket cost $20 and the other $30. I won $500 on the $20 ticket and nothing on the $30 ticket. That is by far the most I have ever won on a lottery ticket. I almost never play.
You should be able to scratch the bottom and scan it with your phone and it will tell you the amount won if any. Back in Michigan there were little codes in the ticket, ex a C would mean $5 or an S would mean $2. Love the RIP and Vid !
I think this premise was pretty cool. Not big on lottery tickets though. You should take the scratched tickets to the store to have cashier double check em through the scanner just in case you missed a winner.
Like I tell my friends ans like you say Jabs....buying boxes of sports cards is like buying lottery tickets except that even the worst card box you can make a few bucks back or give them to kids.
I get lottery tickets as tips sometimes I suspect that it's possible to scan whether they're winners without scratching them because none of those have ever gotten even a dollar. On the other hand I want to say at least 50% of the tickets I buy yield something, although very commonly not as much as they cost. But something. Watching you go through without getting even a cent back makes me wonder if you got scammed. If I was designing them I would make it actually very rare for you to get nothing at all on a piece of cardboard you paid 50 bucks for. Seems like it would be way better for business if you would get something, like maybe 10 bucks. Then you could feel like you won something and it was worth buying them, and I'm still $40 ahead
The best way to win on the lottery tix is buy in 4s most of the Scratches are 1:4 some less I did the bouncing around with multiple different tix and getting smoked then I switched to the 4s and constantly win , good luck Jabs and keep up the great videos
The return odds if you bought all $1 tickets would have yielded a floor on expected return. Any gives lottery tickets returns 1 out of 3 times a winner (amount may be minimum.
The odds for scratchers are better if you buy a few of the same ticket. Cards you need to spend money and time to sell. I like cards more but would rather have tickets
Garrett Forrester gold shimmer to 50 was 30$. By the way its nice to meet you jabs. My name is Tim. I've been watching you for sometime now every day. First time leaving a comment. Like your vlogs. Look forward to more content. Maybe somewhere down the line I might be able to afford to get in your breaks. But thank you and have a good night
@JabsFamily it's kind of funny that I'm assuming your from Pitts burgh where I've been numerous times. Once for a game in three rivers. I'm really no fan of a baseball team. I'm from Wisconsin. But I've watched a lot of baseball. More from my past than anything but I'm a steeler fan. I have tattoos and I have many photos where one of them is my mom kissing Franco Harris. My parents use to go to the training field every year. So I'm assuming also your a steeler fan? Lol a lot history in three rivers for baseball and football alike.
You definitely had some terrible luck with those lottery tickets! I get a few ever so often and overall usually get my money back or slight lose over a period of time. I did get lucky a few times and make about $60 profit over about $100 of tickets, but I've never gotten zero like that. Usually the more expensive tickets ($30+) are better of at least getting you most of your money back if you don't hit something good.
Both of them are luck of the draw unless your buying them with the odds in mind. All lottery tickets come with odds of 1:X number of tickets. Same as hits in baseball cards. If you go and buy 5 tickets where the odds are 1:4.5 then your probably gonna win something.
I've been getting scratchers since 1993 and the most i've ever won on a single scratcher is 20 bucks. Every other one i've ever gotten has been either a dud, a "free ticket" winner or i win back the price of the ticket.
Comment's are funny people being babys about you copying 😅who cares watch or don't watch. Worried about a video and you should be upset about people like Fauci.
The funny thing is it wasn’t copying. I don’t even watch that channel. I got the idea from an old Mr Beast video. It doesn’t matter. It was fun to film.
I didn't know Panini is making lottery tickets now. Not licensed to print the dollar sign though lol
That’s cuz you win panini points instead!
By the time you pay for shipping I feel like it is darn next to impossible to sell single cards to people for a profit out of retail.
There's a great bit by Norm Macdonald about giving lotto tix as a gift and how it's the worst possible gift. Here's your present...nothing. Or even worse, they win some enormous windfall and your life is filled with regret from that day forward lol

When I worked in a grocery store as a teenager, all the cashiers went in on a full pack of scratch off tickets and I think everyone lost $5😂
Well there’s always a book minimum and very rarely will it be greater than that unless you hit an outlier.
Don’t collect cards to make $ as an investment UNLESS you have a lot of money to invest. Collect to have fun
You can collect money, that way the money is reusable and recyclable, cards and tickets aren't haha
@snerdterguson I go to one bank, I get a $25 box of pennies, search it for errors or pennies that are in perfect condition, if I only find 5 in a box, I replace that 5 cents with 5 cents from my pocket, take the rest of the box to bank 2, cash them in and go back to bank 1 and get another box. amen
Then don't open packs.

No longer put the dollar amount in bar card. Must scan the ticket. Also odds of tickets are on the back.
Better odds if you buy 4-5 tickets in a row.
Man, who has $50 to buy a single lottery card 😳
You’d be surprised. Most states have em and some have 100.00 tickets.
The Patreon members who paid for the boxes and tickets. lol
Hopefully after 2024 everyone!
@@markthompson7503 hopefully 🤞
A lot don't but they will sacrifice food and rent money for those $50 lottery tickets

Interesting lesson for everyone!

At least the lottery scratchers will give you the odds of winning on the back of the ticket. A shame Topps stopped doing the same
Would it matter? People would still buy it even if the hit was 1 in a million. It's called addiction.
Interesting idea, lol. Great video, hope all is well with the Jabs Family!
Those tickets are deplorable. In Florida they definitely would have thrown you a couple $2 or $5 winners for all that.
Dang your state must have horrible odds on the scratch offs
Face value on “winning”lottery tickets is guaranteed with sports cards you are lucky if you get half value on a single card..and if you can even sell it!

That was a great video, really cool experiment

They have the odds on the back of the tickets.. winning cash odds and winning just another ticket odds.

oof, and I thought the scratchers here in California were rough
I think this premise was pretty cool. Not big on lottery tickets though. You should take the scratched tickets to the store to have cashier double check em through the scanner just in case you missed a winner.
Yea when I use to buy them I would just scratch that part and scan them with the manual scanner and save my scratching finger lol
You should do a real challenge 3bros and a card store vs $1 lottery tickets
Like I tell my friends ans like you say Jabs....buying boxes of sports cards is like buying lottery tickets except that even the worst card box you can make a few bucks back or give them to kids.

Great idea for a video! Nicely done.
The thing about lottery tickets is no one cares if it a PSA 8, 9 or 10. well, except for card collectors
The return odds if you bought all $1 tickets would have yielded a floor on expected return. Any gives lottery tickets returns 1 out of 3 times a winner (amount may be minimum.
I play a fake lottery game so when I feel like playing I actually don’t win or lose any money! Fun and creative ideas!
The odds for scratchers are better if you buy a few of the same ticket. Cards you need to spend money and time to sell. I like cards more but would rather have tickets
Good idea. You should make this a regular segment
I've hit $5,000 from a $30 scratcher, I've never come close to pulling a $5,000 card out of a blaster.
Yeah, but you spent $25,000 in $30 scratchers. So your net loss was $20,000.
@MGAF688 Technically, I only spent $1 on that $30 ticket. I won my way up to a $30 ticket, it was an interesting day.
It’s a toss up. Both have great risks but also great rewards if you hit big.
This was pretty cool
Love that Paul oneill card
HEY JABS!!
U can also scratch around outside and inside and it will spell out amount u won
pa lottery has pretty lousy odds. im in pa all the time and its one of the only states that i wont play.

You bought your first lottery ticket at age 18 what took you so long most people i know started at 12 or 13
You definitely had some terrible luck with those lottery tickets! I get a few ever so often and overall usually get my money back or slight lose over a period of time. To win on the lottery you buy all your tickets from the same roll. I thought you might have a chance to win a few bucks though
Seriously! It's a no brainer. You can resell a noname common for a penny, try and resell a dud scratcher
I would pay $30 for the Paul O'Neil card.
Cool video idea
你好。我住臺灣 自從看你開到大谷 1or1 簽字卡時 就每天觀看你的視屏。 希望你能天天幸運
Wife wants me to buy her lotto tickets and I can have the cards lol

I think Daddy Daughter Card Breaks did some videos like these a few years ago
Stryker did it 4-5 months ago too
@@keith72004 I guess a bunch of people have done it so it's not original to any one particular person?
I've been getting scratchers since 1993 and the most i've ever won on a single scratcher is 20 bucks. Every other one i've ever gotten has been either a dud, a "free ticket" winner or i win back the price of the ticket.
What next, Slot Machines VS Baseball Cards?
Comparing cardboard to cardboard. I bet the cardboard wins hahahahaha
The coin was unlucky😂
Dude i work with always wins on scratch-off tickets. He has to go to the capital to pick up $1000 he just won on a $20 ticket
Don't move into a lottery ticket channel. 😊
Interesting.
Hello darkness my old friend...
Why is this? It’s funny how everyone is obsessed with worth and selling. Guess that’s where it is nowadays
My biggest win was 10k 3 times
19 for Tony Gwynn
Hahaha this is such a fun. And funny concept I like it haha
I won $1,000 on a $50 lotto ticket the other day!
Love these videos. Stryker did a few of these “lottery tickets vs cards” videos a while back and they’re always fun to watch.
I play scratch tickets every day and win at least $500 a week.
You resemble Bono of U2.
Hi
Paul oneil card is borderline trash
People in the comments acting like there's only been one person that ever did videos like this
Tells ya something when he had to delete every comment that had “Stryker” in it 🤷🏻♂️
new to me (I haven’t watched Stryker in a while…..only so much time in a day)
First❤

The funny thing is it wasn’t copying. I don’t even watch that channel. I got the idea from an old Mr Beast video. It doesn’t matter. It was fun to film.
Great video. Nice twist. Excellent way to change things up. Not every ticket is a winner, just like not every box will yield a golden ticket.
Crypto is way better investment than lottery tickets
Interesting.
