  • I had the opportunity to take the Minelab Excalibur II out on the beach for 4 days at Hilton Head Island. At first glance, I thought this machine would be difficult to use and operate but after a 5 minutes setup those thoughts quickly melted away. This is one of my top picks for metal detecting on wet beaches and one of the easiest metal detectors to setup and use on the beach. In this video I'll go over all the settings and get you setup for the wet beach in minutes. Plus, I'll let you listen to some of the tones so you will know what gold, silver, lead, pull tabs, and bottle caps sound like. Please hit the like button and share the video with someone who you think would benefit from this video. Thank you for watching!

I've never pulled so many rusty nails and bolts in my life as I did last night, and knew I was doing something wrong. This video definitely Got's me wanting to give it another try. Thanks Again!!!

    If you don't like the buzzy threshold while searching you can reset it by moving it close to your scoop.

    • @marcshea8921
      @marcshea8921 3 месяца назад

      @@Gold-d9x if you hunt with an audible threshold, then when you go over a good target your threshold will sound pleasant but when you go over an undesirable target the threshold goes to a loud buzz sound. By moving your coil near your scoop it will return your threshold sound to the more pleasant tone.

    Hi Scot, Good video. I'm content with my 800 for now but it's always interesting to learn about new machines. I have heard that Excalibur 2 is pretty heavy for use on land but shines when used for wading or diving. Have a good week, buddy.

    • @MentalMetal

      Thanks again for watching roelf, I wouldn't use this on land. That was never its intent. Its happy underwater and on the beaches.

      I just used my Excalibur for the first time today. I have an 800 that I’ve had great success with. I’ll say several things annoy me about the Excalibur. It does not come with a forearm strap so it is loose on your forearm which gives less control. I’m going to look into maybe purchasing or making something to fix the issue but it should come with. It also gave false signals the entire time no matter what I adjusted the settings to. The beach I tried it on is heavy sediment but I’ve seen videos where it supposedly cancels out bad signals. I spent all morning digging up aluminum mostly. Another annoyance is the shaft it comes with is not very long. I’m 6’02” and it’s a little short for my liking. Anyways, just my feedback. I’m not giving up on it yet but the 800 shits on this thing so far.

    • @samax04
      @samax04 2 года назад +1

      I forgot another annoyance. The cord for the earphones is coiled up and continuously pulled the earphones off my ears because the coil was too tight or too short or both.

    • @i.m.7710
      @i.m.7710 2 года назад +1

      @@samax04 all true. I should have bought the 800.
      Get Tony Eisenhower headphones. I have a carbon fiber tall man extender which is too long for me. I took off the original forearm shaft like everyone does.

    I recently bought a used Excalibur 2 for 500.00. The detector needed some work done on it. I sent it away a couple of weeks ago for repairs. A new 10 inch coil along with the wires attached from the coil up to the control box was added. I also had a new headphone installed with the wires attached to the unit.The detector is in great shape and should work like new when I get it back this week. My cost was 500.00 for the unit. Another 500.00 to refurbish. The ExCalibur should work like new when I get it back. My question is would it be sensible to trade it in for a more land based detector? I do plan on detecting in water but certainly not deep water. Maybe 15 feet depth. I want to do most of my detecting on land. The question, is an ExCalibur 2 a good detector and worth it for me to keep being most of my detecting will be away from the beach? Thanks for any information for a detectorist newbie in myself. Love your page!I Already subscribed.

      Thank you and thanks for the sub. Thats a hard question to answer but I think you answer it yourself. If you don't plan on being on the beach or in the water, the Excal may not be a wise choice. There are plenty of good land detectors such as the Deus 2, Manticore, Legend, etc.

    • @jimmyd4153
      @jimmyd4153 11 месяцев назад

      Let me correct myself. I will be using the Excalibur on the beach as I only live a few miles from FortLauderdale beach. I read the Excalibur is the best detector for the beach due to it being able to work well in high mineralized areas. I will also be using the detector inland. In back yards,school grounds. Etc… Do you know of anyone that uses the Excalibur well off a beach as their go to detector? I am thinking about trading it in for a more land based detector like the Equinox 900 or the Manticore or other Mine Lab. I’m thinking the only thing I will not have if I keep the Excalibur is the screen. Not sure which way to choose yet.
