James, no joke your channel has to blow up. You make Schiffer look like a 6th former or college student. Also, you make me wanna quit video, but in a good way. So talented mate!! Would love to pick your brains one day!!

@@MissElze Thank you. I'm a photographer/designer in the real world, but since Corona I've been exploring my own ideas on RUclips. So good. I have no doubt that if you did a video like this once per week or so, that this YT channel would blow up in about a year. I'm sure it'll be your full time gig here soon. This content and the delivery is so good.
Yes James!!! Definitely this was worth skipping a week for! I can't tell you how many of these "I made a commercial at home" videos I've watched but I've never seen one with cool animations like that. That seemed like it was a painstakingly long process but it turned out awesome, especially with the sound ramping as it zoomed in and out. Those are the little touches that people subconsciously enjoy more without actually realising what's happening. Also loved how you included a voice over so there was more of a story telling element than just the average spinning/pour/water droplets drink commercial.
Thanks Roxana. Yes I knew I could do your typical beer ad we’ve seen a load of on RUclips so I was keen to push something a little different and add it to the usual style. Glad it worked out even if it did nearly kill me and my machine 🤣
Cheers mate. I feel this one nearly killed me! So much stress on the computer rendering out the animation part, and then the upload today, it literally took about 5 hours to render out the finished film. Will it be worth all the stress this one caused? Who knows. But I literally feel I couldn't have done anything more for it. I'm getting tipsy on beer tonight to celebrate it gone from my list of to do's!

YOU KILLED IT. this is amazing James! So glad I saw your video on Linkedin.
I certainly do! Your not the first comment to mention this so maybe before I do another beverage project, I should check what glass is best suited. Thanks for the good comments 👍
It has felt like a year has passed. It’s overtaken my life a bit this one, well it feels that way, I’d hate to add up the hours spent on it 😬 But half the battle was the rendering out time and trying to do semi complex keyframes on a heavily layered photoshop file. Right, onto the next one I guess! No rest is there 😂
Thank you. Was it because the sound dipped on those shots? I have no idea why but when I cut the audio in Premiere it's almost as if all the applied effects have to start again with a soft build. Didn't notice it prior to rendering out but now it's all I hear. Or maybe its just seeing my face is too much and not nice? 😂
@@JamesKellyStudio No, it was just due to camera / mic placement I think. When you turned to face the mic the audio was clear but because the mic was to the side of you, we got a profile shot of you when the audio was good or a shot looking at the lens with muffled audio lol

Fantastically creative video idea and wonderfully animated! How did you do the shaky handheld camera in post where it is flying from each scene on the can?

You have an effective teaching method. Thanks! Gave me a lot to ponder. Specifically, should I ditch VSDC Pro and head over to Adobe? Much Appreciated!
Thank you. Pretty hard to say an exact cost, but put it this way - this video for the editing alone took a few days! My machine did not like the hundreds of Photoshop layers turning on and off to create the animation look. So based on that, plus the filming day, then you're looking at 4 days at whatever your day rate is. Hope that helps.
on a different note, this is quite amazing and inspirational, until I remind myself that you spend years learning the skills :D The practical question now.. How do you manage to light the can with the screen behind? Isn't that too bright and overpowering or you just use even stronger light for the can?
@@PhilippeStemberger Good question, and you'd think that would be the case. The light to the right is just a cheap 60w Godox light, and then a small apurture F7 on the left. It would be dark without them for sure, but these helped balance the final image. I may do a deeper dive into using your screen in a future video so hopefully that'll show exactly what's going on.
Great video man. So many ideas that i cn take from this video. Keep up the great work.
