    I’m anxiously waiting for my RP3+ to arrive on Thursday so I’m just browsing videos about it hyping myself up. Thought I’d chime in and mention my horror story about Anbernic.
    I ordered three different 353Ms, only two of them showed up, and both were defective right out of the box. I don’t know where the third one is and I don’t care. The first one had a faulty screen, and the second one had two buttons that didn’t work. I returned both of those for a full refund(ordered the first one, it was defective, then ordered the second, the carrier lost it, and then ordered the third while returning the first). The whole situation has caused me to never trust Anbernic again. I thought about the 405m but tons of users have been reporting that the screen on theirs is or has already fallen out. So now I hard pass on anything Anbernic.

    I don’t have the 3+ but I have the 3. And I must say I haven’t been disappointed once. Of course I can’t play ps2/game cube very well, but the fact that I can play just about all my childhood games with little to lag is well worth it to me. I can play any psp game, n64, ps1, Dreamcast ect ect… and also half-life with mod support, morrowind, Doom with a high range of mod support, quake 1-3, return to castle wolfenstien… there’s seriously so much you can do with it and it does it very well.

    I dont think retroid was so unethical. I had a 2+ when the 3 came out, and the incentive to buy just was not there. I think most buyers had the info available to know that the 3 was merely a screen upgrade to the 2+. It is pretty clear in retrospect that the 3+ is the real successor to the 2+, with a signicant cpu boost, so I think I'll upgrade pretty soon.

    I love my RG35XX, but you prefer the RG351P's buttons over the Pocket 3+'s? I find Anbernic d-pads to not be that great, and I'm not a fan of the size and concave letters on the face buttons that the RG351P/RG353V/etc have (RG35XX's smooth face buttons are much nicer). I haven't held a Retroid Pocket before, but the d-pad looks like it would be similar to the PlayStation Vita's?
    Side note; I wonder if the RG35XX's shoulder buttons intentionally have a little bit of looseness to help against wear and tear from them protruding and being rested on when laid down/having pressure against them if it's in your pocket.

    • @Bendilin
      @Bendilin Год назад +1

      Now 8bitdo... Prior to using 8bitdo products, my favourite d-pad of all time was the original "phat" Nintendo DS's d-pad. I thought it was perfect and was pained when they replaced it for the simplistic + design for the DSlite/Wii.
      But oh man, the 8bitdo Zero/Zero 2's d-pad is my favourite d-pad of all time now. It is absolutely perfect in every way.

    • @adinwalls
      @adinwalls  Год назад +2

      Hey man, it’s definitely a matter of preference. You definitely get used to the smaller buttons but the rubber membrane response and the texture of the Anbernic buttons feel better to me. Yes the Dpad is a dome switch style like the Vita which I am enjoying.

    Releasing a model and an upgrade of the same model months later isn’t new to the market. Apple does that, Samsung does that… PlayStation does that… and that’s why I wait at least 6 months to buy a new electronic device. In this time some hardware fix will happen, some software update even, some fault will come out and solved, a new revision of the board will come out and fitted in the new releases… and yes, probably an upgraded model. That’s why buy electronics at the release date is not the best thing to do. Remember the exploding galaxy notes? The flexing iPhone 6 Plus? This stuff needs to be used in real life after the lab testing and the reviews in a week…

    Glad I waited. Picked up a clear purple for $130 US. $125 for the regular colors. What a steal @ that price. I actually wanted the widescreen most of all. Still using a RP2 and 2+ for older systems but this thing kills some PSP and can run widescreen patches and hacks with some older stuff (Super Metroid and Super Mario World work great). Game streaming is kind of a nice bonus since the RP2+ didn't have the widescreen or R3 and L3 buttons. Now to get the grip and some hall effect joysticks for $25.

    I know it's more expensive but my ayn odin was finally the one and done handheld for me. Really wish it was getting more love and recognition. Truly a beautiful and comfortable handheld that I have no regrets buying

      @Adin Walls It's great now you just have to order it from the website I ordered mine in December and got it like 2 weeks later very surprised Because from what people were saying I was expecting it to take months I got it very quickly. I was also made aware that citra didn't play 3-D S games very well and boy were they wrong because I've been playing them on my TV in 2X resolution use the micro hdmi cable that comes with it I might get a little hiccup here and there but it's never anything unplayable

      Yes that’s strange because I get pretty good 3DS gameplay on my RP3+ as well. Although, a limited selection.

      @@adinwalls I second the Ayn Odin as a one and done device. I've owned both, and I want to love the 3+ and still think it's a great buy. The Odin does most of the GC and PS2, many upscaled and looking amazing with little tinkering needed. But actually, the main thing for me is the curved shape on the Odin is ridiculously comfortable in comparison with the flat back of the 3+. And the extra inch of screen real estate makes a big difference with 4:3 aspect ratio games.
      By the way, availability of all retro devices is fluctuating regularly thesedays. The 3+ currently has a backlog of orders that may take a month to clear. The Odin has a next batch shipment date of about 2 weeks from now. The Miyoo Mini+ that just released apparently sold out their first batch in less than 2 minutes. Just my opinion but I'd recommend the device on its strengths and let people go and see if it's in stock. Retroid and Ayn both have shipping disclaimers on their sites so people can know when to expect their device to be shipped if they order it.

      Yes, I am trying to calm the angry comments regarding shipping. It’s a reality, resources aren’t as easily available as they were in the past. Sometimes it’s worth waiting for the device you want. Although I do think bigger companies like Anbernic (relative to the size of AYN and Retroid) are winning because they are managing their stock well. But again,I would rather wait for an RP3+ than settle for an RG505 (still to be tested on my channel)

      Well I decided last night I’m going to get an RG505 into the studio to see for myself. I really enjoy the trigger buttons, so I want to see how that feels. Also in the beginning no hdmi out was a dealbreaker for me but I’m realising I never plug my devices into a TV

      Shoulder buttons and the lower resolution screen says otherwise. "It's OLED" it's a mediocre OLED from the Vita, not a bad screen but it doesn't come close to the kind of AMOLED displays on smartphones these days that people think about when you say OLED, it's not much better than the RP3 screen if at all. The resolution is also way lower, RP3 does 3x integer scaling in PSP games meanwhile the Anbernic only does 2x and that ratio translates to older systems too.
      Not to mention you REALLY want a high resolution if you're gonna use the device for cloud or PC streaming, same for stacked shoulders.

    • @Toblerone5
      @Toblerone5 Год назад +1

      @@steel5897 yeah this
      It's not a plus that it uses the vita OLED. With that being such an outdated OLED panel burn in is a lot more likely, many 1st gen vitas have some burn in. And the resolution is so low for an android device.

    I will not be forgiving Retroid for the numerous quality control issues with my non-plus RP3 that I purchased mere weeks before the announcement of the 3+. Shoulder buttons that do not work + customer service that makes it not cost-effective to even bother trying to get the device repaired when there are better ways to use my money. Aside from feeling betrayed by the product launch of the 3+, the customer service and poor QC makes the whole company persona non grata for me. If you don't care much about higher-end consoles, just buy a Miyoo Mini plus or RG35xx, or get a Steam Deck instead if you'd rather be able to do everything. Retroid are scum.
