The song is "Muss i denn," which we learned in German class in high school in California. It's about a man departing on a journey who must leave his sweetheart behind...but he promises to return.
The sound quality for an outdoor performance beside the sea and a moving ship is outstanding. It would have been impossible only a few years ago without tens of meters of cable and microphones! Well done!
My experience is with a jam session I had as a teenager many moons ago. It consisted of my best mate on drums, me on base, and an exceptionally talented lad on guitar. Me and my mate were pretty basic players, but we made it work. So we decided to set up our instruments on the balcony overlooking Paget Marsh, a vast expanse of... marshland. We then set up a tape recorder and let it rip. Interestingly, the sound quality was pretty darn close to professional to my ears at the time. The lesson here is that what makes amateur recordings sometimes sound amateur is that they are recorded in rooms with blank walls and very lively acoustic atomospheres.
Maravilloso

My cousin was part of the ship’s crew which was cool because I had not seen him in years. Now I just fly back to Gotha to visit which is much easier these days then back in the 70‘s and 80‘s lol!!
