Great to see you back to some more Angelina! Nobody gets how good Angelina is like other singers and musicians get it. I think people that are deep into music are even more aware at how rare her gift is. I like what you pointed out about "every note matters". I have noticed that one thing that really sets Angelina apart from other singers is how she is "in it" for every single note, every word, on every song. She doesn't even need to go "big" with it. She makes the entire song beautiful, and as a result we hang on every word.. start to finish.

This is one of the most eloquent reviews of Angelina's work I've seen.
She actually plays the piano, flute, violin, and the guitar. Let's not forget about the most important instrument she has, her hypnotic voice that has a hold on all of us.
Angelina many times uses that mic (or one like it) that picks up every little in or out breath and the tiniest vocal sound and she knows how to use it

I fully agree with your views on how an artist should use their gifts, or acquired qualities. One of the many things that surprise about Angelina, from a very young age, is the clarity that she has always shown to possess in this matter. The worst thing that could happen to an artist is not not having a discipline and gymnastic skills in their vocal apparatus ... the worst, in reality, would be not having or not having developed the necessary technical skills to be able to express what the song provokes. It is not about captivating an easily impressionable audience with records that do not seem from this planet (which Angelina has and very impressive), but about trying to put all your skills at the service of the message or impression that is intended to be shared. Angelina has known it, from previous lives apparently and until now she has not fallen into the Olympics game of voice. Thank you very much, Tara, for your nice and informed comments. Greetings.

Great commentary! Angelina is pretty consistent at never wasting notes, phrases, breaths, silences, etc. and forcing the listener to be engaged from the very start...but no one minds!

I agree, Angelina is such a pro with such intimate knowledge and control over her vocal instrument, she knows she doesn’t need to ‘wow’ us with any vocal gymnastics even though we know she can belt, and do all these beautiful melismas because we have heard her do them in other performances. I feel like her purpose and her gift is to interpret and emote music rather than just sing it. She can make us, the listener, feel things with her voice that many technically perfect singers cannot and that is what makes her so special and so unique and loved by her fans 💕
She is a gift to of us all...let's hope that life will keep her that way.

I don’t know if you’ve listened to more of Angelina’s songs than the couple you’ve reacted to, but this is typical of Angelina in many ways. She’s the best interpreter of lyrics I’ve ever heard-and that goes across the many genres she covers. Her low register is extraordinary-full and resonant. Angelina lives and breathes what she sings. You’re right: she doesn’t throw away a line or a word. She is fully immersed in every song, and she connects with the listener immediately. Try one of her originals: Seventh Heaven. It’s full on old school jazz with infectious rhythm driven by a stand-up bass. Or to hear what Angelina can do with emotional lyrics, watch the amazing things she does in her cover of Adele’s “All I Ask”. There are a lot of good singers out there, but Angelina is not like anyone else. She is an artist among the singers.

Tara, thank you so much for continuing to listen to Angelina and providing us with your reactions and analysis. As you know there is much more to Angelina than her musical artistry and, therein, lies the secret to her magic.
Tara, it's like Angelina is singing "for us" rather than just to us. Of course we know she has put in a lot of work to get to where she is today. But, when she is singing it seems so effortlessly for her and I believe it's because she puts her heart and soul into the message of the songs and we believe her. The central theme in all her music is, love. She is so genuine and, for most of us, irresistible.
It’s funny, because the first time I listen to this I definitely got everything I needed and I loved it. Today, I love it, but I do find myself thinking in addition “oh, I wish she took it up a notch at the end!” Ha ha. But it was still a beautiful rendition.
I felt the same way about the ending of "How Great Thau Art" when she sang it. I wanted to see her finish it high, and explosive like Elvis did.

I always MARVEL at her low volume vibrato...when a note would have completely dropped off for most singers, hers continues even into a whisper. Her vibrato is second to none.
You really have a point with those details. It doesnt need to be all about the high notes or power belts. Angie is a master in weaving in all the small details and texture provoking people to make a groan of pleasure at the count in those songs she does that. Though she's sounding drastically different from song to song.
I loved the way you explained Angelina's way of singing this song. This was my first time listening to Angelina sing this song and i found i was listening to every word , note, Angelina has a way of engaging you in a song and you just don't want her to stop singing. I've not been that much into music and I'm 63.

I always enjoy your musical tips! Happy to see Angelina 'soaring' high and low with Simplicities. I have succumbed to her tones and artistry every time I close my eyes. Gonna wait for a reaction video of her singing "Gloomy Sunday" at 7 year old... Such a phenomenal singer with sensitivities at 7 already!
