So you broke down the list and cost, reality that is a big number to get started. If you seat down and can get all the equipment and items needed it can be overwhelming. But you can break it all down to the overall CPM (cost per mile) and break it down per trip to pay off your start up cost. I built a spread sheet to help break it down and on my end. I figured at least .55 per mile on three trips would pay-off my start up cost including DH (Dead Head) cost from where I live. I cant wait to start in 2025. Happy New Year!
I just started doing this myself. I've just finished my first 2 hauls. It's fun, and I get to travel! Some things you just have to learn as you go, like the log books, trip planning, etc.
Your window tint is illegal in PA, as well. If you take it to the wrong place for annual inspection, they'll fail it. Also, if you encounter the wrong cop, it's probable cause to stop you, and you can be cited. All that being said, many people in PA are running tint.
you can get a clear ceramic film that will remove 96% radiant heat from entering your truck. Had it on my last Ram and it worked pretty well. expensive though
Window tint is all about the DOT rules. Believe me, you don't want to roll through a weigh station with the front windows tinted. you will be pulled around back and put out of service.
Thank you for your outstanding efforts to share. Eagerly looking forward to commenting on logging out. Must go home first or can you continue on to family visits after dropping off. Safe journey
Yes, after you drop off your delivery, you can go visit family you just need to keep an active logbook when you head back to your home destination or to the next destination to pick up a load from where you logged off at. I Hope that makes sense Me and Robin are heading on a trip tomorrow together and we’re going to go visit our grandsons in Colorado after we drop our load And then we’ll see if we can get a load coming back and keep the video going. Hopefully it will all make sense. But as of right now this seems to be working the way I want it to. I did not expect to be able to go to Colorado already and see the grandkids so I think this will work the way I was hoping it was so far so good.
Any regrets since starting? Seriously considering the rv transport. I would like to transport 2/3 trips per month. I live in the Phoenix, Az area. Can you pick up a load after dropping off In the same location getting you closer to home? Doing that until getting back? Can you pick up what you want to tow? Size of or type of unit? Liability insurance? Don’t you need full coverage for the tow vehicle? Thank you..

Thanks for sharing this with us! We appreciate you! Happy New Year!
Window shade pull downs will help
That is a great idea - thanks for sharing!
Unless Wave pays 1.80+ for the smaller units they don’t pay the most. You should never have to pay for orientation or physical, plates or magnet signs
Much appreciated, William. Great information about the tint. Thanks
You’re welcome - glad I can help!

Paper logs are the way to go
I don’t have that option - unless the app isn’t working.
Just curious, what is the make/ manufacturer of your rock guard system? It looks good.

Now that is a quick reply! Thanks.

Thanks for the information. The window tint has been gone since day 1 of orientation - not a fan but it is what it is.
You need the sunshades like the kids 😅
Great idea!
Does an EGR delete give problems on the DOT inspection?

Who did you go through for your unladen liability insurance?
Cottingham and Butler Insurance

Is your insurance in addition to your regular insurance or are you switching your insurance around
Horisont Rv Transport and wave express pay the exact same rate
Thanks for the info!
Where is orientation? I grew up in the heart of RV country! Lagrange IN
Goshen Indiana 😊
What's the problem with tinted windows?
DOT does not allow tinted windows on the driver and passenger front windows.
Does one need a cdl?
No, you don't need a cdl
Liability is the problem. Get in an accident unloaded and they can be held accountable. Thus they want you to log until you get home
