    • @lissandrafreljord7913
      @lissandrafreljord7913 5 лет назад +47

      I know. It means Asian bitch. But if you think about it, Aschen comes from the German word Asche or ash in English. You can clearly see the connection here. In English, cinder is another synonym for ash, hence why she is called Cinderella. Cinder comes from the Germanic word Sinter, which meant a mixture of iron ore and fluxes added to a blast furnace, but it some how got mixed with the meaning of the French word cendre, or ash (Cendrillon is Cinderella in French). Of course, ella means she and it is a common suffix for female names. In Spanish, Cinderella is Cenicienta, where the prefix Cenici- comes from the Spanish word ceniza, meaning ash. Both the French and Spanish words for ash, cendre and ceniza share a similar origin, from the Vulgar Latin word cinis. So in all respect, Cenicienta, Cendrillon and Cinderella are all sort of related. Had English stuck with more pure Germanic language, Cinderella might have been something close to Aschenputtel. Perhaps something with ash and miss incorporated in there?

    i think the biggest reason ( correct me if i am wrong) why french and spanish have similar words is because they both come from old latin language. Creo que la principal razón ( me corrigen si me equivoco) por la que el Francés y el español comparten palabras es porque ambas derivan del Latín.
