Last Monday i sold my G85 at a local camera shop and got the S5 with the 20-60mm kit lens and man this camera blew me away i love it so much. The picture quality is amazing. Already made myself buy a new lens 3 days after owning it 😅 a Lumix S 50mm F1.8 which takes incredible portrait photos. Before the S5 my Fujifilm X100V was my daily but haven't picked it up since. The X100V will eventually have its moment but for now i can feel its gonna all about the S5 for a while
That’s the first time I hear a photographer talking about this camera and I wonder why, because this camera is obviously so underrated! After a deep and long research I decided to buy myself a S5 last year as a hybrid camera and I haven’t regretted it one day. So thanks for talking about this camera :)
Amazing! I love Lumix so much. I'm rocking the gh5 after the gh2/gx85/gh4. Happy to learn more about their other options especially in the hands of an artist like yourself. Mahalo for sharing 🤙
Great video ! I know there's "frame markers" on there, available for all sorts of sizes, in video mode... But I never thought about trying it in PHOTO. Once you establish the ratio, and you save it to that custom mode (3), it'll remember the crop every time ?
@@oliverkeyscine Nice !!! I wonder if while in PHOTO mode, it gives you (3) custom modes, but then when you switch to VIDEO mode, it'll give you an additional / different custom modes, just for video...
Good video! I have been thinking about buying this camera for months and months and I think it has nothing to envy of other brands like Sony or Canon. And more so at the price that is on the market. I had a question. Do you think there is much difference between the S5 and the S5II? Is autofocus as bad as they say? Thx men!
Hi Oliver, just curious a year on from this video did you keep this body and if so are you still just as happy with it? I've been wanting to pick up a cheaper FF body for adapting lenses but also doing some simple video with and I was looking at this as an option. Seeing how prices haven't really dropped in a year still good value or others that might be recommended over it?
@@dylan.thissen hey, yep it’s still my main video camera, and the only full frame mirrorless camera that I own. I still think this is the best value hybrid full frame camera, great ergonomics, amazing build quality and I love the image quality (quite a lot of people prefer the sensor over the mkii and mkiiX) I’ve also explored other options and keep coming back to the conclusion that this camera has everything I need and more, would definitely recommend!!
Thanks! I have admit that I’ve never been that impressed with the image quality from Fuji, although I haven’t tried it for a few years so I’m definitely willing to give it another go. The cameras they make look beautiful, I just can’t get on with the xtrans sensor
Haha actually I agree with you. I have always felt they are okay with stills, but the videos are not that good . But the entire youtube seems to think else. Very nice to see someone who has original opinions regarding this matter.Waiting to see more videos from you!!!@@oliverkeyscine
@@Daniel.Anugerah it’s a personal opinion of course but I’ve never been that keen on the way the x-trans sensor renders textures and edge detail. To me the tones in the photos always take on a slightly ‘crunchy’ appearance that you don’t get from a bayer sensor.
I don't know much about the S5, but the S5II and S5iix are cameras that can give the sony a7iv, a7s3 and even FX3 a run for their money, so I think they should be pretty good
Of course, one can flex MF skills that are 100% every single time and allow for unique lenses like Anamorphic. The Sirui Saturn in "neutral flares" is absolute fire and can provide distinctive results that may set you apart from the average joe photog.
What's your favourite hybrid photo/video camera?

I ordered the S5II. It was on offer so thought I’d have a look. Wow. Awesome machine. Sold Z6ii to pay for it. So fully understand your reaction.
After 5 Years i sold my G81 too and i want to buy S5 as well! 🤝

Thanks very much! GH5 is also a fantastic camera 😀

Can you use their simulation profile for video? With grain?
The s5 is the best value camera money can buy right now
Still love mine
This was a very nice and relaxing video

the voice in this video is littel down.!!! but allways is amazing video.!!! What camera you used for filming this videos.???
Love the video Oliver. I saw your vlog-grade look and need to ask you do you have video on color grading or maybe sale some luts for premiere? Thanks!

Thanks very much! Yep once it’s saved as a custom mode the crop is also saved so makes it super easy to find those settings

Really great video!!
how are skin tones on this camera for both photo and video work? especially compare to canon?

got rid of my fuji xt3 and picking up this bad boy ! This camera is amazing
I did the same thing! Loved my XT3 but couldn’t be happier with my decision to move to the S5

would you mind linking your lenses/vintage lens and the adapters you have. Planning on buying some more vintages and adapters? great shots btw!
How come this guy never answers?
@@Worthfishing He does, just not the questions you hope he will.
Like for the intro even before watching the video
Do you prefer this to the Black Magic for video?
can you share what what you use for color grading?? 🙏🏼😭
Hey, I use a film powergrade that I created, recently I built a new one, it’s on my website!
Awesome!!! Why didn't you go for a Fuji though? It's smaller and has film simulations in camera!!

This camera is any good for fashion photography?

Why did you chose the S5? Why not the S5iix? Is it the price ?👀
Price definitely plays a part, mostly though it’s because the S5 gives me everything I need and I don’t need all the bells and whistles from the mkII
major flaw is autofocus!! if you shoot wedding or other events so you better buy s5II or Canon/Sony

So it’s not good for wedding ?
@@CorelleStudios-dq1dt if u shoot using manual focus so ok
