As someone with thin oily hair, I have spent time training it, using expensive and cheap products, I wash my hair either everyday or every other day. If I sweat I wash it. If I’m dirty I wash it. Clean is best!
You might find that the products and constant washing are actually causing the oil build up. Products can upset the natural balance of oils on your skin. That's why I switched to just washing with water. There's a big movement around moving away from products and allowing your natural oils to rebalance.
@@-The-Golden-God- yup at the start is gonna get really oily but with time is going to get kinda normal
@ThenX It's not a trend. It's a sensible response to an industry that has played upon our ignorance and fears for decades.
@ThenX Seeing as people have been doing it for centuries... But do continue being obstinate.
@@-The-Golden-God- bro i got thin hari and very oily scalp
I did shampoo everyday for 6 moths and at that time my hair were very good silky hair and normal scalp but now it's very oil
Becoz of that regular doing of shampoo dusturbed my natural balance of oil and now I have very oily scalp that even after doing shampoo my scalp remains oily whenever I touch I cannot see oil in my fingertip😢😢
I've started to wash my hair every 3 days, and its much much better in my opinion. Before my hair was all frizzy, rough and dry and honestly felt like horse hay lol. Now, it feels soft, less dry and actually nice. Also it has definitely started to grow way more now
Hey dude what do you mean by not washing, you mean don't showering or only washing your body or only applying conditioner?
@@xfallsix only washing your body and not hair.
Me too . I was washing every 2 days and my hair was so dry and I couldn’t style it or anything . Now I do it every 4-5 days and it’s way better . I actually don’t like my hair the first day after washing lol I like it better day 3,4,5
Can i get some advice? Thats what I want to do, but I don't know how to transition to washing it only 3 times a week, because it gets dry and hard to detangle
@@humanhoodie1554 i wish i could help you, but im the complete opposite. my hair starts getting really oily. i hope someone from here can help u out. D:
I used to wash my hair daily and my hair always looked dry, flat, and hard to style. I noticed that when I wake up, my hair looked so much better with its natural oils. Now I switched to 3x/week to keep the oils. My hair looked so much better now.
To whomever this may help, I’m a guy with thick black shoulder length hair and a lot of it but unfortunately it does get greasy and it gets greasy fast. What has been working for me is that my hair does still require daily washing but with an asterisk*, I only wash my scalp daily and condition my roots daily as well. Shampoo will still go down your hair when you rinse and conditioner will keep your roots from drying out and maybe once a week I will do a full hair wash from scalp to the tips of my hair. This routine has done wonders for my hair and my greasy hair problems. (so much so that I pull more hair compliments than my gf;))
Just btw I use “Living proof PHD” both shampoo and conditioner. Good luck ladies and fellas!
How are you able to wash your scalp without getting the roots wet and vice versa? Even if you're doing it separately, doesn't that mean you're still doing a full wash, just in two different parts?
Washing my hair every other day is ideal in my case. Washing every day leaves my scalp too dry, and any longer than two days has it getting pretty greasy and gross feeling.
I usually wash my hair daily as it needs it. But I'm growing out a bad hair cut and it definitely grows faster washing it every 2-3 days.
I wash my hair everyday i meanwith shampoo if i wash it with just water its going to change something?
@@xx_ssg_xx1873 It shouldn't with just water unless your prone to breakage. But you already use shampoo daily and if it's fine and you need to, i would just keep your daily routine with shampoo etc. Unless you are using harsh products and brushing hard etc that your scalp needs a day off. Some people believe washing alot creates more oil and the longer you go not washing helps balance. That never helps me, my scalp gets irritated more.. I do wash my hair daily most weeks. The break of 2-3 days was because i had fragile pieces I'm growing out, trying not to over manipulate them and the oils do seem to make it grow faster. But it still grows fine washing daily. Daily, i use a good gentle shampoo and heat protectant if I blow dry it. I don't think a dirty scalp is good it can clog hair follicles. So washing it when you need, even daily I believe is best! Hope this long explanation helped in some way 😊
@@diane5908 thanks for the time and effort you put on this reply i really appreciate that have a nice rest of your day
@@xx_ssg_xx1873 Thank you! Happy to! Have a great rest of the week.
i was just asking myself this question. i shampoo every other day. Thin fine hair gets oily fast especially that i use hair styling products. on non shampoo days, i style with dry shampoo and tidal wave to balance that non oily look. your hair will tell you what it needs. great vid!
same bro my hair gets to oily in less than 24 hours
Stephen, wise advice for efficiency and effectiveness in hair washing! Wash not too little, not too much, but just enough! I tend to follow your motto here with my hair, but I have reduced the washing since I caught Covid-19 despite the vaccination and masking in public. Luckily, my hair stays clean for longer periods of time. All it takes for my hair to stay this way is when I take a little time to shampoo and condition away the grime! Thank you for your helpful and thoughtful tips!
I’ve done it all. Nothing compares to the feeling of clean hair every day. But I’ve tried washing less and doing an oil treatment. I think there’s not a one size fits all for this issue. My hair grows out super fast but I can’t grow more of it.
As someone with pretty coarse curly hair, I like to shampoo as needed, but my goal is to go as long as possible. Depending on where I am, and water quality - it’s easier or harder. New York, I can easily go up to 3 weeks without washing with shampoo, no buildup on my scalp.
In Florida, the water is harsh unless you have a water-softener, so I’ll end up washing my hair much sooner. I use moisturizing products for my hair, including my shampoo and conditioner. I use the Aveda Nutriplenish Deep line, and it truly helps set my hair up for success as my curls love the hydration.
I have coarse thick hair that doesn’t get oily till like 4-5 days in
When washing your hair massage your scalp until the skin moves. This allows for good blood flow, improving your scalp and hair.
Great video I do not wash my hair every single day my hair is on the dry side I've been doing two times a week when it comes to washing my hair. I've used an experimented tons of different shampoos and conditioners from Redken to Nexxus Paul Mitchell it's a 10 the list goes on to even over-the-counter Garnier Pantene Marc Anthony and many more again I am trying to get the top to grow out longer so it Blends more and matches with my bottom which is longer so being consistent with my trims and still searching for a hair stylist that can deal with a difficult haircut.✨💇✂️✂️✂️
Okay what is the definition of washing your hair?? Does it mean going in the shower and getting it wet + adding shampoo or does it just mean going in the shower and getting it wet
I have very curly, fine hair and wash with shampoo/conditioner every other day. On the off day, I will wet it and use a leave in conditioner. Have been doing it this way for years and it works for me. Live your videos!
Is there actual evidence that not washing your hair makes it grow faster. From a quick google searh "So even though you’ve probably heard that it’s best to wash your hair as infrequently as possible, that’s kinda BS. While products like dry shampoo can help reduce scalp oil, you still need to wash your hair regularly for optimal scalp and hair health because not washing your hair enough can cause hardcore dandruff, irritation, clogged pores, breakouts, and even hair loss.
When you go too long without washing your scalp, Dr. Rubin says you can get a build-up of sebum, hair product residue, and dead skin cells. "All of this can potentially result in clogged pores, which is not good for your scalp health or your hair health," Dr. Rubin explains. "The follicles on your scalp are literally the manufacturing plant for your hair, and for your best hair health, it is important that they are not clogged.""
I had covid and during my isolation I decided to not wash for 10 days straight. I used to get greasy hair after a day of not using shampoo, now I can go a week without needing it. Plus it looks a lot more wavy and full of volume, so I reckon it's worth it
so as a result of going through that phase, your hair got better at adjusting the amount of oil it generates?
@@zenjiee yeah, pretty sure when you keep stripping oils out of hair your scalp over compensates by making more oil
Do you still rinse out your hair everyday? Or keep it dry till you start shampooing it again?
@@demianmb2325 I still shower everyday bro, just don't use shampoo, massage your hair with luke-warm water
@@boi4947 Are 10 days not too much?
African American here with afro textured hair and i agree with shampooing and conditioning 2-3 times a week. Preferably 3 times for the sake of the scalp. Even dry scalps get dirty.
But what about braids 😢
If you have thin hair and you want full healthy thick hair, i promise you wash youre hair only every few days like if you wash your hair on monday then dont wash it again until Wednesday or Thursday, but dont forget to brush your hair at least twice a day in the morning and before bed. When your hair is wet only use a wet brush it wont rip out your hair and let your hair air dry use a leave in conditioner. And dont forget only shampoo the top of your scalp and mid hair not the ends only condition the bottom of your hair. Leave in conditioner you can use all over your hair but when its wet you only need a little bit too much will make your hair greasy and not in a good way. But dont forget you shouldn't wash your hair everyday but you should wash your body everyday.
Thank you for this practical advice!!
If you live in a hot country especially in mine, sadly you need to wash your hair everyday. As it causes your scalp to itch faster as you sweat
I had a hairdresser say I could wash my hair every 3-4 days. It is thick I work out so I sweat. I use baby cornstarch to get the greasy feel gone. Dirty hair styles the best.
So if you are shampooing 2-3 times a week, should I be using conditioner on the non shampoo day?
im gonna be honest, i play sports every day and i would shampoo every day but it just made my hair frizzy and dry. Now i do it 1-2 times a week spread out my hair falls out a LOT less and it’s also way less frizzy
It's cause of the natural oils.
Similar topic: I’m not sure if my barber cleans his tools in-between clients (at least every time).
Should I be concerned for my own scalp / hair? Any recommendations on how to bring this up with him if so?
By saying washing your hair, you mean using shampoo? Because I shampoo my hair every 3-4 days and the other days I just wash it with water.
For daily hair washing it’s best to use baby shampoos as they tend to contain less chemicals
The vid we all waited for
I've been washing my hair about twice a week just so I don't strip the natural oils. I do have a oily scalp especially in the front after the first day of washing and conditioning. I've been growing out my hair and its become thicker than its ever been going from short and thin to longer and thicker in the back and sides. My front is on the finer side though. Right now my scalp is itchy and I'm not sure why?. I use premium no sulfate and natural shampoo and conditioner.
I use to tell my clients to make the balance on washing their hair, if your hair is oily then wash it more often, if it's dry then wash it less, and it's all depending on what we eat, are we eating healthy? Getting enough zinc, omega 3, vitamin D.....oir hair need this element to grow and be healthy.
I wash my hair every day and use conditioner every day
By washing your hair do you mean using shampoo/conditioner? Cause in my country we take a bath 2-3x a day
Why is it always the bald guys talking about washing hair
That’s so true
I grew up washing my hair every day, and my hair was always fine. So when people started telling me not to wash every day, I try not to, but my hair actually looks and feels more dry! So is it ok to at least condition or rinse with just water every day?
If not washing your hair doesn't work, then it's fine to wash it everyday ^^
I was advised to shampoo my hair after having products in my hair for a couple of hours, but I was also told it is bad to shampoo everyday. What should I do?
Loved the video...
On point and logical
I wash my curly hair only with cold water which is good for the scalp and use shampoo without sulphate which causes the root to break and weaken so stay away from sulfath shampoo
Did a excellent job🤩. can you do princess Diana hair cut next!
I got to the gym everyday so I wash it almost everyday and use conditioner twice a week and use dry shampoo like twice a week
can you do a hair tutorial for like super thick asian hair that won't hold or style well? I've been following all of your videos but can't get a flip in my hair. I even have your Tidal Wave sea salt spray.
I wash my hair every 2 weeks I feel like it's really good for your hair but so many people say that it's gross and disgusting actually it's better than wash your hair everyday who agree with me
The front of my hair is really oily and greasy but the back of my hair is normal. Why is this happening?
can we get a video on shampoos and conditioners like the best products and stuff like that
I have curly hair should I shampoo and condition my hair 3 times a week? And should I condition my hair every time I shampoo my hair?
Wash your hair every day if needed. The worst thing in the world is being with someone that smells bad in the scalp in the name of beauty.
I ABSOLUTELY agree. My hair is disgusting after 24 hours if not a bit less. I hover active sbacios glans b
Is it wrong to wash with just water daily and use shampoo weekly ?
wet your hair in the shower counts as washing it?
I use shampoo twice a week and rinse my hair the rest. With expensive mineral water
What does "washing" involve? Just rinsing with water or the full shampoo routine?
Uhh
You want to rinse your hair with water regularly. Like daily.
"Washing" is the full shampoo routine.
So when you say wash you 3 times a week, does that mean I don’t let it touch any water at all for the other days ?
I think he means don’t use shampoo in the shower. Use conditioner instead. There’s a difference between “washed” and “wet.”
Should we use shampoo or soap to wash hair

Went way to low with the hair line man, SMP is very difficult to look natural but if done to a natural looking hairline it can look really nice, if you went back an inch or so and had more recession it would fit your look and look a lot more natural, maybe some day you’ll take my suggestion, just trying to help

I used to wash my hair every day and multiple times per week. What this had done to my hair, ruined the texture and made my hair drizzy adm dry, it hurt my scalp everytime i used a comb or touched it.
I tried to not wash it regulary but one time per week if i wasn’t sweating to much. I noticed alooot healthier hair and smooth
I started washing my hair every 3 days and I noticed the difference and it makes my thin hair thicker and I love it and I'm going to continue
You mean don't showering or just washing your body without wet your hair other 4 days?

Heyyyy heyyy i have an oily thin hair as a male. Should i wash my hair every other day?
i wash my hair every morning, but i only use shampoo twice a week
I wash my hair every 2-3 days. In between washes I use arrowroot with a mix of cocoa powder and it works excellent as a non-toxic/natural dry shampoo.
I could never go once a week to wash my hair. My scalp would be extremely itchy and oily. Yuck! Everyone’s hair type is different.
Thank you for this! 🙏🏼
I'm ok with washing my hair with just water everyday tho right?
I'm wondering the same thing
