Thank u for confirming hulk super glitch is still in this version.....i will be having some fun with that when it comes out 😁. If this lives up to the hype we are going to have hella fun and helluh mahvel content and maybe new tech
In COTA, Version 2 is preferred, we typically play/run our tournaments on boss hack because of this (and because you can select akuma without doing the code and juggernaut is playable.) For some reason in version 3 Akuma (bottom 2), Silver samurai (worst character in the game) and Storm were nerfed In version 2, Akumas throws had a bounce which gave him excellent combo potential and throw loops, this was removed in version 3 which is quite a big nerf Silver Samurais shuriken also has their hits more spaced out which gave him better combo potential and made them better for block strings While Storm has less recovery on her LKs, j.HK would juggle instead of knocking downward and air typhoons had less recovery Despite all of this, Version 3 is still very much fine, COTAs difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is nowhere near as drastic as XVSF 2.0 and 3.0
a more balanced game that rewards good playing is better, in my opinion. i played a decent amount of xmvsf and the combos were so goofy. it's hard to take it seriously, even if it's fun. it seems like the best way to do it is release it with both versions? if it's not already in there, then with a patch? they probably won't but maybe if enough people ask for it they will.
The fact that they're giving top players a chance to get in there and dissect the builds for specific glitch/infinite checks before the game even comes out is a pretty nice gesture of good faith and confidence from Capcom, I dig it
The part I'm most excited about MvC2 on PC is the possibility of Project M style balance mods. I would looooove to see a balanced version of MvC2, with every character being (roughly) equally viable.
@blooddumpster3427 casuals? People who aren't that invested into playing fighting games competitively? People who didn't grow up with an almost 30 year old game? IDK...
@@LegendariTrini11 Fix what? THIS IS the FIXED version lol. This is the best version of the game, like Upper is the best version of Alpha 3 and EO is the best version of CvS2.
Just a heads up, there *were* actually 3 different arcade versions of XvSF, and while the Saturn version is mostly like V3 (nerfed Storm and Cyc, for example) it’s technically it’s own version. V2 was probably the most common in arcades, with V1 being the second most common. I would imagine V3 didn’t get a whole lot of exposure with MSHvSF coming out in ‘97. I’m almost 100% sure I’ve never once found a cab that actually had V3 installed.
Hopefully Capcom sees this comment and add this over time in a patch. They can even make the 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 have co-op like DOA for more variety options.
hopefully the 1-button supers/macros which from what I understand are banned on ranked are also banned for major competitions. Execution barrier is part of what 'makes marvel marvel' Imagine if 3s had 1-button supers and Hayao just did 1-button 720s, that's not hype.
I was really disappointed to see we didn't get a quick reset button for training mode. That's what I was looking forward to the most, because practicing a DHC and having to manually swap the team around twice after is such a waste of time...

I really can't believe they nerfed X-Men Vs Street fighter like that 😑 Also being the fact that you can't move your character before the match starts is another ugh. The Saturn version will always be the best version.
I'm a 41 year old super soft Dad who used to live in the arcades and has been playing fighting games for 30+ years. I'll take v3, please. The other guys can keep playing on Fightcade. Sometimes I just want some casual games.
Capcom is still on time to fix this. Please include the Juggernaut glitch and more important Xmen vs SF should have the all infinites version. We the people who grew up with this game need it ❤
I never have been able to do infinites, but still do not think that is something that should be removed. I like to practice + I bear no grudge against anyone who uses one against me.
XvSF V3 961023 was in the arcade and has its own rom. I think the saturn version was based on it though. Either way, it is still technically the latest arcade version, just not the V2 that people prefer playing on FC2. LMX did a cool vid recently talking about some of the changes, including showing the alternative stuff you can do instead. Theres still plenty of broken stuff, just less of the more simplistic infinites that people like cyclops had. And it's honestly for the better. I rather die to a more skillful Cyke TOD than his brain-dead 3 piece from v2. Not even FC2 players tend to use those basic infinites. No one is going to play like gentlemen on this new collection, lol. Im curious to see MSHvSF. I am hoping they make picking the secret characrers easier like just holding start or something. Those button codes were so obnoxious and worse than mvc1 codes imo. They were easier to mess up. At least with mvc1, you could see you didnt get it right before you hit the button.
They shouldn’t have removes Jugg’s Power up glitch… then, they also have to rid off of all unscaling damage moves like Megaman’s air mega buster, Sentinel Super Force, Ken’s tatsu, Tron’s Assist, Hulk double gamma meteorite super, etc.
Gatekeeping is cringe. I like all the small changes so far. I also like some of the suggestions in the comments. Hoepfully they take some notes and implement a few of them on release or a few days after.
It's not gatekeeping to be disappointed in the lack of ability to want to play the games as they were, untouched and un-altered. That's what game preservation is all about. Part of the charm of these games is how they developed over time by the players that kept them alive. That sometimes means appreciating the warts that they come with, including glitches and weird janky shit that people discovered. Game-breaking bugs that can softlock the game mid-match and make online play risky or not possible? Yeah I can get fixing that or at least fixing it for online matchmaking - but I think you should at least have the option to play the original untouched versions offline. Fixing stuff like the Juggernaut glitch is just uncalled for - it's one of the character's strengths and one of the few reasons to pick him at all. ONLY fixing bugs and not just releasing a full balance revision as an optionally playable mode in the collection is baffling to me and defeats the purpose of presenting the retro game in the collection.
@MHVideos777 I mean for the people who really want to play that can always just boot up fightcade. It's not Nintendo so I think that will stay up for another decade.
Because they were 6 button games. And you should know even with MvC 2 having 2 buttpns. You can get the medium attacks pressing opposite light/heavy buttons together.......mostly.
I got MvC2 21 years ago and don't think i ever played as storm or magneto lol. I'm not as competitive with this game as i am with tekken. I'm kind of bad at 2d fighters but it's still one of my favorite games. Love playing with teams that have venom in them casually.
Cota has different versions, Japan players generally use 2.0 (they never got 3.0 in arcades). The port is in collections is 3.0 and as far as I can tell no changes were made to characters. Spit is stand hp for sentinel in Cota
Oof. Kind of a Monkey's Paw here with the versions chosen for XSF and MvC2 (the others won't matter). The FightCade crowd isn't going to bother with this collection, at least not for those games.
@@lightspaceman5064 If the versions in the collection were the same as the Fightcade versions, with better(?) netcode, and the playerbase was larger (RIP crossplay), then I'm sure the majority would have switched over. The free aspect is more of a side benefit to the fact that the games in question here don't have any means to play them online and/or on modern hardware.
@@ShinUltima People on Fightcade are really dedicated to Fightcade and the small community around it. Free doesn’t just mean money wise. Capcom can’t split the online between every version of the game. That would just confuse annoy and most people. Who don’t care about that. But a small community can. I’m sure that a lot of those guys will buy it just for the novelty of physical and the larger player pool. But it can’t be a replacement because if supporting the games was all that mattered they wouldn’t be trying to start a rivalry with the Collection. It’s like, enjoy the freedom guys. I believe in it. But this collection is for people who just want a convent way to play those games they remember from the arcade.
"New people are going to play with their favorite characters and discovering combos" If Sent, Cable, Mag, Storm are allowed to be in tournament.. then new players are definitely not going to enjoy the experience of their well made team being easily wiped out by boring rinse n repeat god tiers.
I'm mvc3 era and never had the foresight to go backwards. By the time I wanted mvc2 it was unreasonably expensive. I've only ever played the arcade version
I would love to see them implement the low tier "ratio" system you and Matrix have tinkered with in MvC2. That would probably be a very easy interface to toss in.
No release date even during evo is wild. Capcom fighting game collection was advertised ALLL at evo the year it came out which was awesome. This didn’t even get a commercial at evo lil sad bout that
Even with the fixes it seems like it'll be one of the better releases. Then again I grew up with the PS2 version of MvC 2. The official site lists the version for each of the games.
I think that new users that have never ever touched any of the games in the collection will have a great time playing them for the first time. At the same time, I think they'll have a really hard time when they go online on any of those games.
X-Men vs SF this version they're using removed Cyclops, Juggernaut and Storm infinite but pretty much kept everyone else's infinite. Storm has a couple other infinites still in tact tho. X-Men COTA is the version everyone plays on pretty much. MshVsSf as far as I'm aware, changed Akuma's infinite timing and requires a different link for the otg followup and there's a small microwalk added after the otg too.
Only the glitches should have been fixed. The rest should have just been added. Great collection though, no clue if i will get it, no console as of now, due to no spending money available 😢
I feared Juggernaut glitch would get fixed. That sucks honestly, I would have been happier with only game freezing bugs being fixed. Everything else should have stayed the same to preserve the gameplay everyone loves. I remember people disliking that about HD Marvel 2 in the 360/PS3 days as well

My switch is my favourite way to play Skullgirls and I feel like that’s one of the closer modern equivalents to the mvc style so I’m excited to pick this up
I just got that game for $2.80 the other week lol
I hope they make a trail mode for people who want to know combos in the retail release
Thank u for confirming hulk super glitch is still in this version.....i will be having some fun with that when it comes out 😁. If this lives up to the hype we are going to have hella fun and helluh mahvel content and maybe new tech
In COTA, Version 2 is preferred, we typically play/run our tournaments on boss hack because of this (and because you can select akuma without doing the code and juggernaut is playable.) For some reason in version 3 Akuma (bottom 2), Silver samurai (worst character in the game) and Storm were nerfed
In version 2, Akumas throws had a bounce which gave him excellent combo potential and throw loops, this was removed in version 3 which is quite a big nerf
Silver Samurais shuriken also has their hits more spaced out which gave him better combo potential and made them better for block strings
While Storm has less recovery on her LKs, j.HK would juggle instead of knocking downward and air typhoons had less recovery
Despite all of this, Version 3 is still very much fine, COTAs difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is nowhere near as drastic as XVSF 2.0 and 3.0
I'm used to version 2 X-Men vs Street Fighter. IIRC still has most of the infinites except Sabertooth HP HK and Ryu Hopkick...
a more balanced game that rewards good playing is better, in my opinion. i played a decent amount of xmvsf and the combos were so goofy. it's hard to take it seriously, even if it's fun. it seems like the best way to do it is release it with both versions? if it's not already in there, then with a patch? they probably won't but maybe if enough people ask for it they will.
What do I think? I think they should've also included MvC2 HD widescreen version.
Supers just weren’t made for it. I see why they didn’t
Thanks for taking the time to verify what was removed!
When is the game getting released?
I'll be playing for the first time cant wait. Heard so many good things about MVC2.
The fact that they're giving top players a chance to get in there and dissect the builds for specific glitch/infinite checks before the game even comes out is a pretty nice gesture of good faith and confidence from Capcom, I dig it
Online will be the true test so I can't wait to see how creative people get! Now if only we got a release date 😅
Superb. Can’t wait!
The part I'm most excited about MvC2 on PC is the possibility of Project M style balance mods. I would looooove to see a balanced version of MvC2, with every character being (roughly) equally viable.
Bring back the raw arcade ver of XvSF with infinites. The nostalgia is too hard to pass up on.
Same thing I'm saying...X-men vs street fighter is my favorite game but the arcade version..we need this..capcom best fix this asap
WOLVERINE IS UNTOUCHED IN THIS VERSION IT HAS SO MANY INFS STILL HAHA
right? who do they think this collection is for?
@blooddumpster3427 casuals? People who aren't that invested into playing fighting games competitively? People who didn't grow up with an almost 30 year old game? IDK...
@@LegendariTrini11 Fix what? THIS IS the FIXED version lol.
This is the best version of the game, like Upper is the best version of Alpha 3 and EO is the best version of CvS2.
Jwong with the 120 hit combo right out of the bag 🙏🙏🙏
Just a heads up, there *were* actually 3 different arcade versions of XvSF, and while the Saturn version is mostly like V3 (nerfed Storm and Cyc, for example) it’s technically it’s own version. V2 was probably the most common in arcades, with V1 being the second most common. I would imagine V3 didn’t get a whole lot of exposure with MSHvSF coming out in ‘97. I’m almost 100% sure I’ve never once found a cab that actually had V3 installed.
The online emulation community can play 4-player X-Men vs SF. Wish they added that feature..
Hopefully Capcom sees this comment and add this over time in a patch. They can even make the 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 have co-op like DOA for more variety options.
hopefully the 1-button supers/macros which from what I understand are banned on ranked are also banned for major competitions.
Execution barrier is part of what 'makes marvel marvel'
Imagine if 3s had 1-button supers and Hayao just did 1-button 720s, that's not hype.
I was really disappointed to see we didn't get a quick reset button for training mode. That's what I was looking forward to the most, because practicing a DHC and having to manually swap the team around twice after is such a waste of time...
100% agree… then, they need to rid off of all unscaling damage moves like Megaman’s air mega buster, Sentinel Super Force, Ken’s tatsu, Tron’s Assist, Hulk double gamma meteorite super, etc.
I don't think I was ready for everything to have a training mode. I'm so hyped for the entire collection now.
I’m definitely going to be in the lab training mode game changer
That Iron Man infinite is iconic. Also gave me memories of J360 infinitely infiniting people at Seasons Beatings
Justin I truly hope that if they have major tourneys for mvc2 again that u enter n win. Especially for evo 2025 👍 u truly r the goat of mvc2!
Taking out juggernaut glitch was a bad idea. That was the only reason to use him.
100% agree… then, they need to rid off of all unscaling damage moves like Sentinel Super Force, Ken’s tatsu, Tron’s Assist, Hulk double gamma meteorite super, etc.
I really can't believe they nerfed X-Men Vs Street fighter like that 😑 Also being the fact that you can't move your character before the match starts is another ugh. The Saturn version will always be the best version.
And nerfing the juggernaut glitch in marvel 2 is just criminal 😑 Ngl, but i think I'm going to pass on this this collection
I'm a 41 year old super soft Dad who used to live in the arcades and has been playing fighting games for 30+ years. I'll take v3, please. The other guys can keep playing on Fightcade. Sometimes I just want some casual games.
Capcom is still on time to fix this. Please include the Juggernaut glitch and more important
Xmen vs SF should have the all infinites version. We the people who grew up with this game need it ❤
So, Capcom, when is this coming out?
Surely we’ll get some mvc2 guides 🙏
The fightcade crowd was never leaving fightcade. You can’t compete with free.
"New people are going to play with their favorite characters and discovering combos"
If Sent, Cable, Mag, Storm are allowed to be in tournament.. then new players are definitely not going to enjoy the experience of their well made team being easily wiped out by boring rinse n repeat god tiers.
I'm mvc3 era and never had the foresight to go backwards. By the time I wanted mvc2 it was unreasonably expensive. I've only ever played the arcade version
that overkill at the end was crazy
I'm curious about Megaman's start up hyper moves: Rush Drill and Beat Plane.
I would love to see them implement the low tier "ratio" system you and Matrix have tinkered with in MvC2. That would probably be a very easy interface to toss in.
Ratio system. You mean like a ratio match similar to Capcom Vs SNK 2?
As an Xbox owner I must say I’m down bad right now….
Used PS4’s are pretty cheap as far as I remember
As an Xbox user I went an bought a PS4 under 100.00 or ask around a lot of people are willing to sell there's with controller and games..
You choose the console you buy smh
@@marioparty17I mean yes, but I didn’t know Xbox would get shafted on the biggest crossover fighting game ever.
XBOTS seething
No release date even during evo is wild. Capcom fighting game collection was advertised ALLL at evo the year it came out which was awesome. This didn’t even get a commercial at evo lil sad bout that
Thanks Justin!
Even with the fixes it seems like it'll be one of the better releases. Then again I grew up with the PS2 version of MvC 2. The official site lists the version for each of the games.
This was my first EVO! Came back so many times to this booth. Game is so fucking fun 🎉
I think that new users that have never ever touched any of the games in the collection will have a great time playing them for the first time.
At the same time, I think they'll have a really hard time when they go online on any of those games.
Kinda surprised to see people mad about the Jugg glitch considering all you see is Storm, Cyclops, Magneto, Psylocke, etc. to begin with at high level
Cant wait to get this bought. Going Digital on PS5 and Physical on Switch.
