My wife sits and reads while I watch RUclips. She just told me that you are the most interesting individual I watch. She said she isn't even interested in tractors so much but you are super easy to watch and she always learns something. You are an interesting fellow and very intelligent. I enjoy watching your videos. I've never been bored or disappointed in anything you do. I look forward to my days off so I can catch up on what you have accomplished.
Hey JT , I got 2 old model 45 combines that haven't been started in 15 to 20 years , ran when parked , I'm thinking about salvaging the motors on them , they will be good for something, you gave me hope on them when you got this one running, thank for the encouragement! Great video !!!
When I was a teenager, I fought a 1944 deuce and a half army truck for a whole day before the guy I was buying it from said “maybe it’s a condenser I’ve got one on the workbench”. Son of a gun fired right up and I drove it home., without brakes, of course, and in the dark
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I shouldn’t have said there were no lights. My dad was following me with the pick up with the brights on so I could see where to go.
I used to warm the condenser up for a few seconds on old briggs and strattons that had stood out for years to chase the moisture out, worked every time
Runs well JT!! I would have cranked it up with no muffler. Probably wake up the dead ...but would have been cool watching it at night with the lights off! Oh well...cheap thrills!! Lol! Am sure somebody would love having that engine. Wonder what else JD used it for....
JT: Looking for a project? There’s a guy that took an old gleaner, removed all of the combining stuff, but left the cab, dropped the motor down onto the frame, added a huge snowblower instead of a grain or corn head… and uses it to blow snow. 😂 You’ve an old combine and a good motor… Between the basket case and your other projects and farming, that’ll keep you busy. In all sincerity. I really enjoy your vlogs .. saving that’ll that old iron and farming . Keep ‘em coming and thanks. Ed Belledin
The engine guru does it again. You certainly win an awful lot more than you lose. Good engine for the right person. I bet though you can come up with something useful to do with it and build something around it for the channel. 👏🤔
@@jtsbarnngrill6873Here’s a project for it! A self propelled manure spreader! You already have a donor spreader! ruclips.net/video/gdrhBPH8hlA/видео.htmlsi=ga6bc1BpYgV2rVp0
Years ago we got a Perkins engine, mounted it on an old trailer and attached an irrigation pump to it for irrigating crops. We welded a combine fuel tank on the front of the trailer to feed it fuel. . This was back in 1995 and it still pumps water on the crops to this day. You could sell it as an irrigation pump, or as a mobile generator.
That Ole girl is from a bygone era when Deere made great stuff. 👍🙂 Get yourself some kneepads or cushions to kneel on, as an old Reno man I can tell you it catches up with you as you get older. 👌😎🍻🍻🍻🇨🇦🥓
Thanks again JT. I knew this one would be easy, the color you know. Well the removal was fun, but it was worth it. Wish I was in the market for a 303, but I’ve got my projects. Great informative video.
That is a great sounding and easy starting 6. That would make a great generator or irrigation pump engine. I bet you won't have any problem selling it. 😊
Great video, JT. I love the 1 series MF's. My grandmother had a 150 and my uncles father in law had the 165. Their family and ours went in together to bale all our hay. They both had the perkins engines and man did they run. Never was a huge fan of JD after all those years running Masseys. That is a great running 303 though. Keep the videos coming. I always look forward to the next (especially if it has red in it).
As you said you had it running 5 yrs ago, so I knew it would start almost immediately, and she did! They were good engines for combines, as you said. Well done on cleaning the points to polished condition, make a lot of difference to get good spark. If you decide to keep it, it would as many have said, make a good genset! You have all that is needed to get it setup or for someone else to continue the story. Nice resolution to story, and if you sell it money in the bank for the Case! See you next week best wishes from UK.
The Deere 303 sounds pretty healthy and didn’t fight any to run. Hopefully you find someone that needs a good engine and is willing to part with some cash. Thanks for the Videos. Looking forward to seeing the Case go back together. Have a good weekend.
As much as people like to complain about how ridiculous John Deere is about a lot of things, they really built good stuff for most of their history and most of it will still run if you show it a little love.
It's best to use a thin, steel points file and not sandpaper or emery cloth to clean points contacts. Because sandpaper and emery cloth may leave embedded grit and debris between the contacts, causing a faulty connection.
I've never gotten a spark when the spark plug is laying on a painted surface. You must be luckier than I am, Still interesting watching you work! With the points, my dad always told me to clean the points off with alcohol so there was no oil on them.
I think you mentioned a John Deere tractor in one of your videos that might need an engine? Yep....that would be a great idea. Just throwing the idea out there again. ....Great video on this engine JT!
Hey J.T., that thing runs so nice, and you've got it, why not find a generator and make yourself a whole home power plant in case of bad weather? Or something along those lines. It's a sweet running motor so it would be a shame to send it down the road. UNLESS of course, you can get enough out of it to make it worthwhile. Just me thinking about what I might do.
My wife sits and reads while I watch RUclips. She just told me that you are the most interesting individual I watch. That's a strong motor! If it's based on the Ford 4.9 Litre, that motor is indestructible. You should get that sold in no time.
Thanks!

You are totally right. It runs far better than any gas 4020 I ever heard.

That would be cool!
