I like all old tractors, allis, Oliver, MM, IH, JD, MF, it’s why I like this channel so much.
Appreciate it!
Me too!!
Ditto
Its about time you got a good tractor. I have 5 Wd-45's and a whole collection of Allis's. They are great simple old tractors. Definitely go 12v it makes life easy. That is a original oil filter. I can't wait to see you fix this one up!!!!!
You and me both! I can’t wait to get started!
The way you man-handled it off the trailer and into the shed, maybe Allis in Chains! LOL Thanks for sharing!
Now I like that!!
The family farm I grew up on used wd-45s for planting, spraying, snow plowing, and everyday general use until the mid 2000s.
It's like that old Smokie song. You're now "Living next door to Allis" 😂😂
What a great looking old Allis! WD’s and WD45’s are great old tractors. Can’t wait to see out spray some Persian Orange on it!
You and me both!
Just remember there are two different Persian Orange shades. This would have been Persian #1. It’s a lighter shade than the later Persian #2, which was a more red color.
Buying old tractors and bringing them back to life is an addiction
😊👍🏻
That’s for sure!
I've been around Allis all my life. I have a 55 WD45 my grandpa bought new. Yours is a factory 3 bolt wide front. That loader was a model WD9 made for Allis by Freeman loader co. The hood decal is aftermarket and not anywhere near correct. Hopefully it doesn't slip out of 3rd gear. After the WD they changed the transmission, and 3rd gear wore out in them because its the most used gear. They were like that all the way thru the D series and 100 series. You got a nice straight tractor, the hand clutch sounds good, with a sharp snap. When you get it done with good paint and decals it'll look sharp! Allis used 3 different colors of orange. Yours should have persion orange #1 to be correct. It'll look much nicer with the correct paint. Good luck on a great project!
Right on! Appreciate the info!
Amazing tractor --- A Man has to do, what a man has to do,,,, When I was 3 --- 5 yrs. of age I rode a
1952 Allis-Chalmers U (45 HP.) .... I'm sure there is a lot of collectors or small row-cropper farms who believe
in those great machines.. Interesting JT..
Right on
Nice looking old WD-45. Those oil filters were like that from the factory. Good old tractors, torquey little tractors. They sound pretty good, probably won’t take much to get it going. Thanks for the videos, JT.
Right on!
When you change the plugs and wires, remember Allis engines firing order is 1-2-4-3. Also lever on the left of the steering wheel is for the Traction Booster system. When you get to a tough spot in the field, depending on how you have the lever set it will pick up the implement momentarily to boost traction. Pull lever that was going to the "PTO" is actually the release for the snap coupler implements.
I can remember driving a WD 45 when I was a kid it was an old tractor then, and needed lots of work to make it run better, but we just stopped using it, and it never got fixed 😢.
Spin on oil filters were factory on the W-D's and 45's. The hand clutch was for semi live power, push in the hand clutch and the tractor stops forward motion but the PTO continues running, great for baling heavy hay.
. Throw a 12 volt battery in it and a cheap resistor in front of the coil and you don't have to get a 12 volt coil.
Now we’re talking! My favorite tractors! My grandpa had A-C tractors and that’s what I first drove as a kid. His first new tractor was a WD45. I still own his second new tractor, a 57 Allis-Chalmers D-17. Very popular tractors in the day. Still a lot of them around. I still prefer the Snap Coupler system to the three point hitch. Much easier to use! Nice to see how straight those fenders are. As Brian said, they usually get beat to hell in the rear. Those rear wheel weights are a real bonus! Yes, the one lever is the throttle and the one on the other side is the hydraulic control. Hand clutch allows for live PTO. The two pull rods are for choke and starter.
Talk about going orange paint. Those Allis Chalmers were great tractors. Cultivated a lot of West Texas cotton with a narrow front Allis. Bet it's sweet when finished, especially with that wide front. Next thing you know, you'll be dragging home an Oliver. Great video, stay warm. Only 80 here in Central Texas today.
I’d take an Oliver 😉
Given time you guys will figure it out. The "L" shaped rod pulls the lock bar on the Snap Hitch underneath. The hand clutch will stop the wheels. You'll have to use the foot clutch to change gears and shift the PTO. When I started driving my Grandpa's WD, i was so little, I'd have to stop with the tractor with the hand clutch. Slide off the seat and push the foot clutch, shift gears, and get back on the seat. He had power steering installed, in later years.
The 45 will be a handy utility tractor! My Uncle had one to move hay wagons. Between the farms was a hill in the road. It would push the 45 down hill and flames would shoot out the exhaust pretty scary as a kid!
I bet that was a sight!
Cannot resist saying "another project JT?" Well heck yeah! That's why we watch ya "friend"
Right on! Can never have too many lol
Love all things AC......glad you finally got one
Thanks!!
You've got a real knack for finding those diamonds in the rough!
Thanks!
I love any of them you pick up. We ran several Masseys and had 4 or 5 farmalls. Paint it. Put some fatter tires on it and a big chrome stack. Thanks for the ride my friend. Enjoyed it.
Thanks for the watch! That is 100% my plan lll
A great find my friend. Allis developed a lot of innovations that are still used today. We've had three Allis Challenges to go with everything else we've had, and they are wonderful tractors. I can't wait to see this one get finished. I Love watching your videos. Please keep up the good work.
I appreciate it!
Always a good time being a part of your adventures! That's gonna be a fine tractor my friend!
I appreciate it! Thanks for the help on this one!
Howdy once again JT. Looks like a nice buy again. Oh and that long lever on the right is a hand clutch. Came in useful when running the Allis round baler. Hope I can find such a good bargain.
Right on
I love em all, but i learned to drive on an Allis and they were built about an hour away from me! Glad to see you join the family!
Right on!
Nice tractor. I had a neighbor that farmed 500 acres with two WD45 Diesel's hr keept buying more land and he traded for a D21 series two in 1969 it was the biggest tractor in our part of the country. Farmers from all over came to watch it work . I bought it in the early 80s and ran it for twenty years it was a power full old girl.
Very nice!
I like the old Allis tractors,Will be a fun project to watch!
Thanks!
JT you have an addiction, but a good one!
Right on 😆😆
That is a really nice tractor. I am glad you grabbed that. I would have gladly traded the Case for that.
I thought we might be related when i saw all your massey Ferguson tractors but, now i think we must be brothers!
😆😆
Nice grab JT, those WD-45's were a pretty impressive tractor in their day. I'm from near Lansing area and most all of them I've seen were wide fronts. The WD-45 was the last tractor my dad restored in 2010 and it was a beauty!
Right on!
Wow JT now find a AC Roto baler and your in business 😊
Looks like u got a good hand and friend!!
Bingo!
Hey Joe,,,these are a pretty cool little tractor. We had one. Beat to hell,no muffler, worked great. My dad called it the screaming tomato can.
I like it 😆
@jtsbarnngrill6873 cheers buddy 👍
Very smart to turn it over to 12 volt and I will tell you you will fall in love with that little tractor there's such a handy little tractor dear little compared to what we have nowadays but that was a tractor that my dad bought brand new I love the hand clutch
Right on!
I had 3 of them JT. Winter time the WD pretty much kept the farm going. That thing would fire up on the coldest days and it was still 6 volt. Best sounding gas tractor at work my opinion.
Nice!
I like that WD45 alot. Uncle Dwight has one, similar. Probably a little newer. But, I don't know the model, off the top of my head. He restored it back in the late '80s. Still looks and runs great, as I know this old girl will soon.
Right on! I didn’t know he had one too!
I grew up settin on an AC still have a 7060, 180, and a propane D17 we had an AC dealership in our town till the early 80s so most everyone in the area ran Allis Chalmers
Nice!
looks like a handy little unit in pretty solid condition. she'll look good in a coat of paint always liked the AC orange. any day some old iron gets pulled out a hegde or shed to get back running is a good day.
Bingo!
Screamin Allis . Great video JT ,get the orange paint and decals .
Right on!
Thanks JT!! My wife says the same thing! LOL!!!!
😆😆😆
Congrats JT on finally u have gone backwards in time getting this WD45 Allis Chalmers Tractor. she is a sweat ride for sure.. Hope Fluffy will like it.
She’s more than impressed lol
That is a cool old tractor. Looks to be pretty straight. Down here in my part of the country AC tractors are few and far between.
Right on!
Spin on oil filter was factory, they have been using them since the 30s, the handle on the left side quadrant is for the traction booster and the hand clutch is for the live pto. Pretty advanced tractor for the time.
Right on! I always thought they were
First JT. Welcome to the Orange side. That's a nice WD45. If you need any advice on restore or mechanical don't hesitate to call me. The wide front was an option is the rears 28 or 26. If you want i have a pair of good looking 26 inch rims. It's easy to switch over to 12 volt. One suggestion go with a electric ignition. Only 100 for one. All mine are electric ignition.
Right on! Appreciate it!
JT. Grew up on AC and I know about everything that makes them tick
My grandpa had two WD45s.Brought back great memorys, very cool.
Right on!
Great video JT. Looking forward to seeing you getting Allis warmed up Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks!
In there day it was a great tractor. A lot of them sold. You found a gem. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks 👍
been a long time since i drove a tractor, but i still love them..the farms..the smells..the people...thx JT and Fluffy
You bet!
That's pretty straight. They took care of it looks like. Good score.
Thanks!
Yeah, another AGCO family tractor, AC's are my favorite, Congratulations! Oh, and don't listen to that woman, buying tractors is a good investment!
You got that right!
Good find, Good episode 😊
Before I'd install the 12v coil, I'd try it with the 6v coil and a ballast resistor. I'm pretty sure that's what the factories did until they used up all their stock of 6v coils during the change over period ...
Right on! I have a 12v coil ready to go already lol
They make electronic ignition upgrade for them that work real well. Hand clutch is for live pto.
I love it JT just wants to go inside and get warm, dude wants to stand there and play tractor😂😂
😆😆
I am working on a D17D, so I am only slightly newer. Have fun
Cool little tractor. I love the simplicity of those little tractors.
Me too!
Some of my best days as a kid was running an AC tractor on my Grandpa’s farm. Good luck with it JT
Appreciate it!
JT how many more projects? YES!!!!!!
As many as I can get!
I like this tractor as well can't wait to see it get sorted & looking like new again 💯👍🏻
Thanks!
My neighbor had a WD45 with a loader on it when I was much much younger. He did everything on his small farm with it. But you make that tractor look so small!!! Must be when you're younger everything just looks so much bigger.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bingo 😉
Congratulations on getting an orange one. You're looking like me with all the different brands of tractors.
Right on!
We still farm about 200 acres in eastern PA with all Allis Chalmers. WD-45 is a great tractor; IMO punches way above its weight class. Our smallest is an Allis 914 garden tractor up to an 8070 fwa.
Right on!
I think your falling in love with orange tractors lol
I own two allis tractors, a 48 wd and a 53 wd, good machines, they have live power so if you are mowing or baleing you can stop the tractor with the hand clutch and your pto will keep running, was a big thing back in 1954 when the wd45 was intrdusted, there are alot of old videos on youtube about the company and these tractors, once you get it running i think you will like the little tractor.🤠
Right on! I think I will!
Lovely tractor J T
Thanks 👍
Personally JT I enjoy watching any refurbish on any tractor 🚜, but hearing you got another Massey in your sites I’m excited!🍻
Right on! I hope a deal can be made!
That's so cool. I think that is a factory loader from a quick internet search, not farmer built. Just my opinion. Thanks for taking us along.
Right on!
Great recovery, gone to a good home 👍💨💨
Thanks 👍
I’m a Allis charmers fan but I started watching because of your massy videos so I can’t wait to see you finish the basket case and wd 45
Interesting project
Thanks!
Awasome Allis JT , It’s good to have some variety in the shed ,makes life much more interesting,Mr,s J T must be a understanding Gal 😅🤠👍
You got that right!
We have SAME TRACTOR since 1952!!!👍
Nice!
The hand clutch is how Allis got a live pto when you pull the hand clutch back the pto still runs but the tractor will stop. The throttle is on the right side of the steering column the hydraulic lift for the snap coupler hitch and the traction booster is on the left side
Thanks!
Can"t wait for the allis in wonderland project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent!
JT that WD-45 is gonna be pretty painted up. Great little tractor.
Right on! Thanks!
She has a good look to her, have fun..
Thanks!
Welcome to the orange side. Orange is almost just a real bright red lol. Looking forward to the progress. Thx
I have a real bright orange called AGCO tractor, cousin to Sassy Massy.
Appreciate it!
You cannot go wrong with an old tractor, no matter the brand. The old ones that are not being built anymore is still a good option. Looking forward for some JT love being put on this old one.
Bingo! Appreciate it!
Another awesome find JT- looking forward to seeing it run
I appreciate it!
That Allis is a cool looking tractor. Can't wait to see you get it running.
Right on!
My family had 2 wd tractors and I loved them both and the fact that it has the quick snap couplers for the 2 point hitch is rare and super awesome good luck with it and can't wait to see it in action
Appreciate it!
Finally something in my farms color lol itll b neat to see which version of orange you choose to paint it
Hopefully the correct one 😆
@jtsbarnngrill6873 lol. The ppg number is 60080 for persian orange #1 and shouldnt be to hard to cross into whatever brand you use. Also thanks for the continued entertainment.
Excellent Video JT :) , Brain :), Scott :) sold Allis Chalmers WD 45 tractor and yes should take a lot thousands dollars to get it going again then test driving too! I like old School Tractors like this too !
Right on!
We have a Allis WD-45 narrow front end on the farm. Great little auger tractor!
Very cool!
My uncle had one of those it was a narrow front. He used it on a haybine and flail chopper. Also a gas one like yours.
Right on
J T looks like a new collection . I guess you would call that a roll crop with the rear axles going into a gear drive on each wheel, could not see for sure. Had a Ford 4000 with that set up, hard time keeping stud bolts tight.Good luck on the wd 45
Right on
Very nice. Welcome to the orange family. Lot of those WD45s' around. They were a good tractor. Operator's platform is definately different and something to get used to. A friend of mine has a diesel model. I pulled with it a couple times and it does very well. Looking forward to seeing the work in progress on this one.
Thanks, appreciate it!
I'm waiting for you to make a demonstrator of that case I think it look excellent and that would be a heck of a tractor with that power shift
Bingo!
Another awsome find j.t. I love those old Alis tractors....I would put the stance in more narrow...it looks funny that wide....other that that...hell yeah nice project...as allways love ur vids .. keep em coming....stay warm ...in in michigan too ...but not as far north as you are I'm around Yale ..if ya know where that is
Right on!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873wanna start my own channel....but I'm not very tech savvy... I'm all mechanical...but my g.f knows how that tech stuff works as far as video editing n stuff....so I'm gonna give it a try in the spring when I start working ground
Nice looking tractor. My Dad and uncle flipped the differential over so it would fun back words. Put a seat over the fuel tank and hydraulic steering, and a clark mast . They make great forklifts. Been running it for over 45 yrs.
Right on!
I love watching any of your videos
I appreciate that!
Allis Chalmers wd45 for my favorite tractors I wish I had a dozen of them
Right on!
Really nice WD 45
Thanks 👍
Something I started doing years ago is bolt a hitch ball on one fork. that way I can get under the front axle and push or pull the tractor into or onto whatever with pretty good control.
That is a good idea!
Nice find ❤ will be a nice parade or show tractor❤
I think so too!
The endings are awesome. Actually, this is one of the better buys 😂😂
Right on!
Yeah we had two of those on the farm back in the day and they were good pulling tractors for their size
Right on! 👍🏼
Don't tell the Mrs, but I hope to get 1 of those to go with my MH 44 one of these days.! Good work 👍👍👍
Your secret is safe lol
Now you need an Allis Chalmers All Crop 72 or 66 big bin to pull behind it! 😆 I have a 60 and we ran soybeans with it last fall and I tell you what there wasn’t a single pod in the bin! Does an excellent job in lots of different crops and they were known for doing an excellent job in clover. I think with a hand clutch it’s basically just like a live PTO and just disengages your drive but I’m not positive on that. I’ve never really been around that many Allis Chalmers tractors.
Right on!
We had one that the previous owner put a straight six gas in. I’d imagine it was a diesel before hand. Those hand clutch’s were good too keep the hydraulics working if you needed to stop for any reason (back blade, pto, etc)
Right on!
