My first batch of soap paste, I followed your video…sort of… but didn’t realize it was an hour cook. I did it for ten minutes, stick blended & stored in between, then 5, and then 5. It turned out just fine and has been a wonderful blend that I’ve used for so many things. I didn’t wait for all my oils to melt, I just blended in the lye water. This time I did it the same way. It separates the first blend, but after stick blending and stirring the next two times it was kinda jelly and exactly like last time. So it took about 30 minutes max. So I don’t think I’m going to do the long mix at the beginning or cooking it for an hour because it worked out just fine. Makes a beautiful sugar soap scrub, liquid soap, etc. I’m going to try the shave soap next. Just wanted to let you know. You were totally right in the first video. You really can’t screw this stuff up. Thanks again for the recipe! ♥️

Coming back to comment 2 years after my original comments. Your soap paste is awesome. I've made it several times. I have another full time job or I'd probably have to make a lot more to keep up with demand. The only preservative that doesn't seem to deflate the scrub to a disappointing degree is liquid germall plus. But I've only tried 3 preservatives so far. I might experiment with some others. I haven't used clay in my whip yet, but I'm doing that very soon. This is so much less expensive than a whipped soap base. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I like that you bring the water to you and not fade away to the sink. For some reason i always feel like they've changed the soap. But not with you, you have it right before my eyes. I like the way you do things.
    Thanks again for this video.

Also, what preservative do you use? Or do you not put preservative in this specific formula? I used your recipe for whipped sugar soap scrub recently and used Optiphen & it seemed to deflate the soap a bit. I really didn't get quite the volume you did.

Hello, thank you for sharing these videos. So I made the paste, but I think I didn't cook it enough time. According to me it looked cooked LOL...so when I made the whipped soap sugar scrub there was 0 lather, hahahaha, I mean it feels good, but no lather. Something told me it was weird because when I melted the paste with water and stearic acid, there was like a thick mashed potato thing and part of the soap didn't melt, so I had to add a bit more water, even then....I love it, learning in the process.

Hey there, sweetie I have a question. I’ve made soap paste several times and it is by far my favorite project. I’m not a seller. I’m just an old granny that likes to make projects with my granddaughter. This time I made up a big batch and for some reason, it is dry and crumblylike powder I’m so disappointed. It was the last of my lie. Is there anything I can do fix this so that I have paste two years over the next several months?

Absolutely love your tutorials. I followed the other soap paste video which said cook for 10 mins then 5 mins…it got to the ‘mashed potato’ stage and is now cooling overnight…this is the same recipe but says to cook for 1hr plus 1hr?. Did I not cook mine long enough? Can’t wait to see how it turns out tomorrow 😃💕

Hey! You can really run with any extract you’d like; buckthorn is good for hair softening, aloe and chamomile are good for skin repair. Loads of others would be great in this too, though!

After you heat up the paste, add the water and steric, do you allow to cool before starting the blend to add glycerin and such?
    Also aprox how much clay?
I would like to give this a go but do not want to add to much clay and it be to dry. With that said can it be a blend of clays such as bentonite, or French green, or even a blen of clay & and col. oatmeal?? Mica?
Would Dead Sea mud be an allowable replacement ?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 года назад

Technically the pH isn’t conducive to bacterial growth so no, but in general I recommend adding a preservative to liquid soaps or scrubs anyway to ensure the end user has a good experience.

I made your soap paste recently and had little weird dark brown firm thready chunks that I felt like I had to pull out. Did I cook it too hot? Is something potentially wrong with my oils? Or lye? I've never had this happen before with soap. However, I mostly do cold process and this is the first time I've done dual lye anything.

It is smart that you stop when you do… at that loose “applesauce” consistency, otherwise you can easily burn up your stick blender for no reason. (ask me how I know!😂) R.I.P. countless stick blenders!
I have burned up cheap 😊ones and expensive ones in that “mashed potato” stage, too.
It is the main reason I don’t do hot process more often.
I’ve been thinking of getting a more heavy-duty stick blender.
Anyone HPers out there know of a wattage level/brand/model that would be a good investment?

Thankyou so much for this video. Exactly what I was searching for. Just a couple.of questions Im in Australia and it gets quite warm in summer here would this cream withstand the heat? If I were to sell these would I need to use a preservative? Trying to keep my products natural. Thanks and love your videos.

Hey! I’m weirdly on my video to check a recipe because I’m doing an update to this whipped soap in a few weeks, and saw your comment. Not the point, sorry. I’ll focus. Yes the cream holds up in the heat, and preservatives are not required in the US - the pH of this soap will not allow beasties to form, but you’d know your regulations in Australia better than I would, so double check those!

@kasiemcclure7289 with preservatives, it depends on the system you’ve selected. You’ll need to select a preservative that works in a high ph product and then go by the manufacturer’s specifications for said preservative.
