I would put a clear wrap over the problem areas. You can’t see it and it does a great job of protecting the paint
that blue was a great choice Jim. just a great looking car
also I feel your pain about getting anyone to do a job... sadly difficult
Brutal these days. Thanks for watching the series.
You have some pretty good suggestions here for the fender problem so I can't add much to that. But I did get a grin when I saw your trusty 12 inch first grade ruler come in just as handy for the very end of the build as it did at the very beginning.
What a great series and what's got to be one of the best built/looking (if not the best) FF Hot Rods out there.
Keep the ruler in the trunk and use it for something at the shows. Those of us who followed the build will understand LOL.
Pretty good idea..... Thanks for the kind words!
I think you'll need very flexible flaps, plus do your best to get on the cleanest roads. I am surprised you never thought about the road situation with a custom car you put your heart into.
If you notice many new cars have plastic cladding on their lower third of the doors.
With how low the fenders are, I thought it would not be an issue.
Will you be doing a driving style video soon? Like a review of how it drives and looks all together? That would be awesome. Also why not PPF the rear fenders? Maybe you already got that comment or mentioned. Really loved this series and can’t wait for future builds.
That is a great suggestion. I can for sure put something like that together. I will be releasing some stuff soon that has to do with the celebration of this build coming to an end. I think I can do a driving style video afterwards. Thanks for the kind words and support!
@@StreetRodJim and thank you for the amazing journey. We all loved watching. That’s why a driving video would be so great. It would pay off all this work for the viewers. Enjoy the amazing car you’ve built Jim!
I live 1 mile on a dirt road and the only chips I get are on the fender, no door chips. I put carbon fiber on 2/3 up on the back fenders. It works out great, no chips in for years. Also just buy your ss for your windows and cut to size then bring to any hvac place and they will bend it for you. I’m sure you can attach your self.
I am getting a lot of HVAC suggestions. I also got Ambulance fabrication shop. We will see. It is just too hot now. :(
I wonder too, if you might not consider putting some of that clear film on the vulnerable areas.
I agree that seems like that would be the best fix for the problem.
What spray are you using?
Soap water
I think its unavoidable with these cars. I went back and forth on ordering my kit with and without fenders. I ended up deciding no fenders and will either add clear wrap or just deal with the "added character" of the chips. I wouldn't sweat it. Enjoy it for what it is
I thought that when I order 4 fenders this problem was solved.... Boy was I wrong.
Are you only seeing this on the rear fenders or are the doors also taking a beating?
@@jasonsirois3591 Nothing on the doors. But as I mentioned in the video, if I was coming off the highway doing 35 and taking a long wide turn, it would probably spray the sides.
You still put on ear muffs just to pull your own car out on the driveway. Your neighbors must love you. Did you bother with mufflers or did you think it was cooler to make it loud and wear ear muffs?
Neither, I have super sensitive hearing.
