The instructions are a starting point! I had to trim the door a lot more than the instructions indicated and played around with this a lot before paint to get the window, door, and window all aligned. I also brazed the 2 pieces together (brazing rod from Home Depot and Mapp gas. Then added screws through the metal and through the door. I also used felt and seals from Steele Rubber. It all worked out but was not even close to the instructions.

Man those door panels look fabulous. As does the entire interior.

Well worth all the effort, just an amazing car you’ve built.

I know I’m a little behind on the videos and I realize the car is done, but maybe this will help with the Van: I have found that lowering my expectations in regard to what other people will or will not do has made me a lot happier, LOL. I haven’t lowered expectations in regard to what I expect from myself, but definitely from others. Again……great job Jim. Very impressive.

Wish I was closer to you
I could make that window trim for you
We feel your pain on dealing with the work force today
    Looking great

    Jim,
I used the FF supplied window trim and I had to trim the inner piece a lot to make it work. FYI, I had to make the opening in the door a bit wider because once the felt is on the trim it's very tight for the window to go thru. Good luck.

...After the fact... I think instead of following the directions in the manual, if you wanted to use the trim, you would have to use these from the start of the whole process of cutting into the doors.

I agree that perhaps you should actually drive it one of those shops, with the pieces in situ as mocked up in this episode (instead of template) and ask for a quote and timeframe. Might be more effective than awaiting return phone calls.

With the car eating up the paint and an extreme work schedule it is super difficult to do.

I feel like black paint on the inside of the grille fins would make a huge difference. Just keep the bezel and face of the fins chrome.

That time has passed a long time ago.

When it comes to rock chips, I think there is a way that corvette people put a coating on their cars (can't think of the name off the top of my head) that is tough and designed to protect the paint from rock chips and still looks great. Not sure if that would work, but even if you don't drive it, and then when you do, you still have to do something because every time you look at it, it will make you sick.

Yup, you need PPF on the rear fenders in addition to "as low as you can go" on the front fenders... the first couple of chips are the worse. Get some touch up paint....

I advise you to wait on that seat detail, give yourself a breather, this is something you can do later. enjoy the fruits of your labor. Also, have you searched to see what others have done?, perhaps it might give you ideas about an alternate way, like Myself, would prefer something rubber as opposed to metal, plus you don't have metal on the car, so it might be out of place. I have an idea about having a piece 3D printed, but not sure, it could be manipulated into looking good. You would have to find someone who can do this.

With the grill, headlights and trunk button, metal will work as a nice accent. Thanks,

Sorry if you mentioned before but doesn’t Factory Five have a solution for the window guide/door trim piece? If they don’t they really should and I wonder if they’d work with you on prototyping a better fit. Probably something I missed and more complicated I’m sure but you’d think it would be a typical problem for owners to have to solve. Have you reached out to FF? I’d add them in a comment or reach out.

2020 will go down as the downfall of customer service, among other things.

Jim. On some of the footage of your car when pan around the drivers side there seems to be a mark or something on the side of the roof just where it comes down to meet the top of the door. What the hell is it.
